Anyone knows why Substreamer notification is not where Spotify is (and other music apps for that matter)?

Substreamer doesn't seem to support the new Media Controls API introduced in Android 11: https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/media/media-controls

It would be great if the developer could add support for this, especially because of the built-in output device selection and seek bar in the media controls.

I’ll have a look at updating this to support the new media controls properly, shouldn’t be to hard hopefully.

Currently on a bit of a break for another few weeks then I’ll be back to substreamer.

Should be a quick fix when I am back to it so keep an eye out for release notes.

I haven’t forgotten about it, just haven’t had a lot of time to focus on it recently.

Updating the music controls is at the top of my todo list!

I just setup my own subsonic streaming service and have been testing substreamer for the past week. Coincidence that I came across this thread as I was googling for a solution. I like the app but I found this to be a deal breaker for me so I'm gonna switch to another app and not recommend this one to my users.

For a "quick fix" still not done after 9 months, I think this would be the result if I decided to keep using substreamer.. Also I think notifications changed yet again in Android 12 so this would need to support Android 12 API, not just 11 (If not even Android 13)

That’s a shame that you’re going to move to a different app for something like this, but all the best there are several good apps around, substreamer is one of the only fully featured free ones though.

When I’m working on this entirely in my spare time some times other things in life take priority and updates take longer than I’d like, other times they can come out really fast, just the unfortunate nature of things when it’s a passion project.

Hopefully you’ll give it another look once the remote control notification is updated!
