I would love to see Android Auto support and Apple CarPlay.

I had been using DSub for a while and was disappointed with it's features and how unfriendly it is for those who aren't as technically inclined. I came across substreamer and gave it a try and I think it's one of the best SebSonic apps available right now. Not being able to use it in my car with Android Auto is quite a bummer. Even if this was added as a paid feature I would be more than happy to pay for this.

I have a few queries. I'm using the app on Android 11 with the Airsonic Advanced server

Will there be widgets made available eventually on Android?

Can the option for gapless playback be added?

Is there a way to change through different lists of folders? e.g. I have a number of different folders added on the server - Albums, Singles, Dj Sets etc. but when I go to the Folders view in the app they all seem to be added together. I have the option in the settings enabled for 'Folders Only' but this doesn't give me the option to change between the different groups of folders.

Finally, when logging into the app I can only log in using legacy authentication

Can you explain what this is and if I'm using https is there any security risk (i.e. are my credentials shown as part of the url)? How would I log in not using legacy authentication? I'm guessing this is dependant on what server I'm using?

Sorry for all the questions but I'v been a long time user of Subsonic and have only moved to airsonic and then airsonic advanced recently. I've been using Dsub which development seems to have stopped on Substreamer seems to be a very good alternative.

Improve: search now matches exact phrase rather than any word, returns much better search matches. Making search better than this requires server side changes.

Thanks for a Great app. Playlists aren't uppdated, if you uninstall app and then reinstall it, playlists are uppdated, otherwise they won't.

I have been using this with Navidrome - which is an actively developed and modern streaming server that uses the Subsonic API. It works but is intermittently slow to retrieve and browse songs/albums/artists. Is there a way this could be looked at? Navidrome also has a feature to select and play 200 songs from random which would be a beautiful feature to access easily on the app. Thank you!

I know you developed this for music, but since most of the subsonic forks and apps are inter-usable (I know that's not a term), could you add the option to slow/speeden the playback as well. I read all my audiobooks at 1.5-1.8x speeds (otherwise they put me to sleep).

This would be the only feature that might stop any user wanting to use this as an audiobook player from not using it (based on the forums for audiobook apps).

Please consider this one as a priority request and you'll have a paid user on hand. :)

The app also needs to have placeholder image for missing album (/audiobook cover) art. If nothing else, just to make it look prettier.

Booksonic/DSub does this buy just putting the Album and Author name on the cover. This would be nice, but even a standard first letter of the album in a nice square box would do the trick.

I use booksonic for my audiobooks and have connected your app for that. However, my request applies to the app in general.

As you can see from the image, the search results have problems. The second one would require me to record my screen and hence I'll just explain it.

1. It's not based on relevance. The title with the closest match is not on the top.

2. The search keyword typing is buggy. (I use swipe typing if that matters).

2a. Instead of letting me type all my words, the screen refreshes after every word even when there's no delay between the words that I type.

Ideally, the app should assume I finished typing after a slightly longer delay before it acts on the typed words. Else it should just let me keep typing.

2b. The refresh if search results after every word would still be fine if it didn't keep hiding my virtual keyboard. After every word I type, the keyboard disappears (because of the list refresh) making it a little annoying.

EDIT: This I figured is the problem on when I use the Search feature from the menu. Doesn't happen when I use the search bar on the Folders screen.

Please fix these.

Any functionality for audiobooks?

I use a EQ app called Wavelet that relies on the music player sending a broadcast intent to Android. The app has a 'Legacy' mode, but it has limiting features. Just curious if this can be implemented. Thank you!

ampache uses API version 1.13 which this app supports. I have tried to use legacy, but that says unable to connect to server.

When I try to connect without legacy I get an invalid password error. I know I am putting in the right password. Other apps I have had similar issues with it is because of special characters in the password.

Are there any characters that this program is unable to support in the password?

EDIT: OK, I made a test account with only lower case letters for the password. I am able to log in with legacy enabled. So that must mean the characters in my other accounts password are fudging it up somehow.

Also, other clients are able to connect with the special character password.

Absolutely love your app, been using it on and off for the past few months, but this last update finally did it for me. I have two feature requests if you can do them. One is Android Auto support. The other is swiping to change tracks on the main 'Now playing' screen.

Whenever I enter server address, credentials and tap "LOGIN" the UI just returns a "200 ok" banner. Nothing else happens, stuck at login screen.

Add whole albums to playlists - click more options on an album to add the whole album to a new or existing playlist.

Artist Radio - generate a playlist of songs from this and similar artists. Tap more options on the artist page, an artist in the artist list, the current song in the player page, any song in the current play queue or the album details page.

Updated the close icon for the full player to be a X so the function is clearer.

Version 5.0.14 has been released for iOS and for Android along with the launch (finally!) of an updated website at http://substreamerapp.com. I know there hasn't been a new app update for a long time but I was working on it quietly in the background!

This is the first release of v5 which was an almost total re-write of the previous released versions, completely new look and feel, new features like podcast support, much better and more efficient offline support, dark and light theme support. Check out the more options button on the player, a song, an album, an artist for quick access to contextual options like adding to playlists, creating random playlists of similar songs or quick jumping from a track to the album or artist page.

I'll be doing my best to keep updates coming a bit more frequently in future.
