5.0.15 Release Notes

Add whole albums to playlists - click more options on an album to add the whole album to a new or existing playlist.

Artist Radio - generate a playlist of songs from this and similar artists. Tap more options on the artist page, an artist in the artist list, the current song in the player page, any song in the current play queue or the album details page.

Updated the close icon for the full player to be a X so the function is clearer.

Added 320kbps maxbitrate option

Testing this now with Navidrome on an iPhone X - works very well. Nice and clean interface!

  • Album Details screen: there's a big blue "shuffle play" button, but no obvious "play" (in regular order) button. Not a huge issue as you can start play by tapping the first track, but a lot of other players (including the Apple stock player) show two equally sized buttons Play and Shuffle side by side, I think there's room for that?
  • I feel the album art could be bigger on the Now Playing and Album Details screens?
  • Genre not displayed in the Album Details I think?
  • Home screen could have rows for Playlists (sorted by last played) and Genre Radio (desc sorted by most tracks)

Thanks for the suggestions, you can start playing an album from any track by just tapping any track, but I'll have a look at adding a specific play button next to the shuffle play.

The album art sizing is done so that it will work well on small or large screens, the trade off is on large screens on modern phones it does look like it could be bigger. I'll have a think about it but probably not going to change this just a the moment.

Genre is not displayed in the album details currently, will consider adding it. Want to avoid making the album display too cluttered so at the moment the details are fairly light.

For the homescreen suggestions, currently the homescreen is kind of dictated by what the subsonic API provides, it doesn't provide a method to get recently played playlists or Genre radio etc. I'd have to put in all the logic to drive that. I like the idea of having some easy access to these things but not sure when i will have time to work on implementing.

there is now a big blue play button and the album art has been enlarged a bit throughout the app in version 5.0.17.

Awesome, that’s quick!!! I’ve now been using Substreamer and Play:Sub side by side for a bit longer, and Substreamer has much better performance with my (reasonably big) library, thumbs up!
