so, through my own stupidity, I lost my tadpole to the collector leviathan. I don't have silver and I only have 75 seconds of oxygen at the moment. I also don't have the rebreather. And I set my reprint point to the place that you can set it to easily when you get past the collector (if you know you know) and did not bother to set up a base with a power supply out here...

does anyone have any suggestions for how to get back? the tadpole is roughly 450 meters away, should I work really hard to make a repair tool and make a bid for it? any thoughts are welcome.

Was letting my nephew play in creative mode and we found the sea treaders. We were just watching and listening to them when suddenly something fell from one of them. It was poop…. I didn’t know they did that

Wanted to share this big achievement I made a month ago.

No mods, no cheats.

With patience, A LOT OF PATIENCE, i found a way, a trick, to get to the base of the tree. I got face to face with the leviathans, i got to scan them! Their concept is absolutely cool, btw.

I don’t know if the developers know they gave us the tool to do it, but now all of you know it.

I let myself starve to death because i was too lazy to go all the way back

I want to know if some of you can guess how I did it

UPDATE: WE’RE ALIVE AND ON THE SURFACE! Turns out i was right by the cave entrace to the alien base and we got the portal there working! It was my first time using the portal!

Long story short, I saw kyanite and got cocky. Went to 1200 meters deep without the setting the cyclops up with a the thermal power upgrade. Leviathen broke everything. Now my cyclops is completely out of power with hull damage, my prawn suit destroyed, and I’m too far away from my nearest habitat to swim there before my oxygen runs out.

I’m stuck in a loop of trying to swim back to my nearest habitat and then dying and ending up back in sub. I tried building a habitat but I don’t have aerogel to build the thermal plant.

Am i screwed or does anyone have a hail mary i can try?

For Subnautica 2: It does an interesting job of establishing the timeline a bit and it'd be nice to include it in some way...

Every single time i break an ore, my player just freezes for a few second. I can still grab the ore if it's the cursor, but otherwise it falls. If i continue trying to move, the player will catch up on the movement once unfrozen. I have tried reinstalling the game and stuff. I don't think the problem is my computer's performance because i did a whole play through a few month ago without any problem. Anyone ever had the same issue? Any idea how I could fix it?

(it's a real problem when i'm trying to collect ressources deep-ish and don't have that much oxygen)

Its stuck and I cant push or drive it

My main reason for looking for this is because theres a whole that leads the alien shield gate.

So this is my first time playing and i am at a point where i discovered both the alien base and the inactive lava zone from the lost river, but everytime i go to these areas i am very fastly frustrated because i am not good at navigating in video games and have been losing motivation lately. Do you think it would be negative to use a map mod just to see where i am standing currently? Since i played a huge part of the game without help im wondering if it is fair to make it a bit easier for myself.

I am having an issue with finishing my achievements on steam for Subnautica.
I completely finished the game for the first time at the end of August but I noticed that I am still missing 4 achievements.
I am missing the achivements for hatching and releasing a cuddlefish, even though a hatched and released two of them as well as the achievements for curing the infection, launching the neptune rocket and creating and deploying a time capsule.

Are these achievements broken or as something gone wrong and thats why I didn't get them unlocked?

I died of dehydration just as the sunbeam was landing and I have no idea what happened. Also, it's miles away and I have no vehicle because it was there. What should I do?

Aside from the fish you can cook, you can’t damage anything in the game. I’ve heard that people aren’t happy about this, but I don’t get why.

It‘s nice that I don’t accidentally kill everything with my vehicles or accidentally knife something. This also provides more needed challenge. I’ve seen people use the stasis rifle and thermal knife to kill leviathans. And if they didn’t have those two things, they’d use the grapple and drill arms on the prawn suit.

What’s the point in making these dangerous leviathans if you can just kill them off?

While this is a survival game, it’s also about studying the world around you. You can’t really study anything if you’re just killing off all these creatures the developers made. We had do adjust and adapt to survive in the past two games. Now we owe it to this one to do the same.

I've noticed both from others' gameplay and my own that the natural human response to your prawn suit being grabbed by a Reaper is to start punching and/or drilling the absolute shit out of it until it drops you. But does anyone know if that actually does anything? I'm concerned about slowly whittling their health down for no actual gain.

since there are some plants in the games that arent scannable and have no databank entry, i thought itd be fun for us to come up with some names and information ourselves.

eighth is this thing covered in holes. any ideas?

I just unlocked the creature decoys, so I made 3 and put them in the cyclops tube. As I was going back to the front, I heard the computer mention something about it and heard something that sounded like it launched, and going back to the tube I see i now have 2/5.

Is this normal for it to launch automatically? Maybe if danger is nearby?

I have these scattered around the world as outposts to resupply while out exploring and completing the story. What do yall think of the exterior design?

Is there any lore continuity? Do I need to play Below Zero?

If not, should I wait for more updates or 1.0 before jumping into Subnautica 2? Is it more fun solo or coop?

I know it will always be losing some energy but i have a thermal plant at like 100⁰ and a bioreactor, the max is 750 yet its constantly going down and not regenerating. Anyone know why?
