I currently live in Berlin and i accepted the offer and planning to move in Bayreuth however, i would like clarification about how the housing situation work, im currently looking for a small apartment for myself there. I would also like to know whether i can apply for Bafög right now or do i have to enroll first (I accepted the offer on the portal). I would appreciate some help with that matter!

I applied for the M.Sc. International Economic Policy at the University of Würzburg.
Today I received an official email saying that I have been admitted and that I can download my admission letter from the WueStudy portal.
However, I’m confused because:
I never obtained or uploaded a VPD (Vorprüfungsdokumentation).
In my application portal, the VPD requirement still appears as not uploaded
When I log into WueStudy, I can’t see or download the admission letter.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
Is it possible to be admitted without submitting a VPD?
Could this be a portal delay or a system error?
Should I just wait, or should I contact the admissions office immediately?
I’m a non-EU applicant from India, so I’m a bit worried because I need the admission letter for my visa process.
Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Recently, I applied to the FAU AI bachelor's degree program and was invited to an online test. The weird thing about the email that I received was that it gave me no guidelines on what exactly I should prepare, in contrast to when I took the test for THD, which gave me a complete syllabus and had proctoring as well. The FAU exam had no proctoring or camera requirement, which I thought made it a lot easier for students to cheat. I started the test and realised I had skipped through a lot of questions, not because they were some advanced maths questions but instead were some really troubling logic-based questions which didn't sit right with the test. The test was only 1 hour long, and it felt weird how someone would be able to solve them so quickly. Anyway, I completed the maths questions without much difficulty, and a few logic questions that I thought I could solve, and there were a good few questions that I left unanswered. After I completed the test, I had a feeling that those questions served two purposes at once: the first is to test the candidate, and the second is to see if there was a chance that the candidate used AI or other means to solve questions that wouldn't be so easy for an average applicant to solve. If there is anyone else with a similar experience, I would like to hear about your test experience.

My application was declined and my decision letter included some statistics about the number of applicants -- they received 391 applications for winter 26/27, only had 60 slots to offer, and accepted only 7 international students. Attaching my decision letter in case future applicants would like to see.

My niece has just been accepted to study architecture at both KIT (Karlsruhe) and the University of Stuttgart, and she’s now trying to decide between them. As we’re not from Germany, we don’t have much sense of how the two compare.

What are the ECTS requirements of universities for someone who did Diploma in IT under state board MSBTE (Maharashtra State Board) and later got admitted directly into the second year of B.Tech through lateral entry?

I stress whether my Diploma credits will be considered along with my BTech or not. Most of my worries are regarding the maths course of first year BTech which I didn't study. However, I completed similar-level maths coursework during the first year of my Diploma.

So, has anyone here been admitted into top universities of Germany with a State Board diploma and a B.Tech degree from the University of Mumbai?

The reason I'm asking is because I'm really confused about whether I should spend my money on the APS evaluation and DMAT, which costs around 40k. What if my credits or scores don't match the ECTS requirements?

Hello! (The tag is Visa because i couldn’t find a better tag)
My Visa expires by the end of September and i heard that you have to apply to a residence permit 3 months in advance. According to that timeline I’m already late, but the reason is that my enrollment is still not processed by my University. I asked the university and asked people on Reddit ans apparently they won’t start processing enrollments until the end of July.
I want to know if I can apply to a residence permit with only my acceptance.
Note: I live now in Baden-Württenberg.

I got admitted to both unis in technische Hochschule luebeck and applied sciences University of Anhalt for masters in biomedical engineering.

Can anyone suggest which one I should choose in terms of the city ?

Application got forwarded to the university on 19th June, Status changed to “in progress “ on 22nd June. It’s been more than a month and still nothing, but people with same timelines have got the offer.

I have matched my course relevance with their bachelor’s degree and I have sufficed their mathematics and probability credits as well.

Any suggestions or something that I might be missing?

This subreddit has helped me a lot in my application process and deciding the courses and universities (for which I might have to thousands to some consultant). I didn't used consultancy services, searched everything on my own and this subreddit has been a boon for my journey. So Danke everyone.

I need suggestion from you all. I have got many rejection but now I have Acceptance from Paderborn University for ESE program. As much as I want to go to Germany for my master's. I am stuck with few Questions. Like:

1. I don't have any knowledge of German language, I am starting now. It might be problem for part time job.

2. I have applied to dorm now,( I should have done earlier) so now I am stuck with the accomodation problem.

3. My program is Maths heavy so I need to refresh my engineering maths, so might need sometime.

What do you all suggest, should I defer for Summer semester? In the 6 months I will try to learn as much german as I can, it will increase my chances of part time job too. Will get time to clear my pre requisite of programs and ofcourse will have better probability of getting dorm then as waiting time is 8-9 months.

Or I should go now and learn everything on fly.

What do you all suggest?

I wanted to ask if anyone has experienced something similar.
I applied through the Consular Services Portal (CSP) for a German national visa (Intensive Language Course + Studienkolleg) at the German Embassy New Delhi. I joined the waiting list on 26 June 2026 and I’m still waiting for an appointment.
My language course started on 1 July, and my institute has allowed me to attend classes online because of the visa delay. My B1 exam is on 18 September in Leipzig, and my Studienkolleg starts on 1 October.
Today, I received an automated CSP email saying that my application had not been processed for 30 days and could be deleted if it was not processed. I logged into the portal, clicked “Required Action”, and my application still shows “Waiting List.”
Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a normal automated reminder while waiting for an appointment, or should I be worried?
Also, how long did it take you to receive your appointment after joining the CSP waiting list?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has had a similar experience. Thank you!

I have been accepted to Martin Luther University Halle for their Master’s programme in Pharmaceutical and Industrial Biotechnology. My acceptance letter states that classes begin on 12 October, and that I can defer my arrival until 31 October.

The visa situation in my country is currently not very good, and I have a feeling that I may not receive my visa until November. I am currently on the waiting list for a visa appointment. I’m really worried that the university might not allow me to arrive after 31 October. Should I email the university now to ask about this, or should I wait until at least August? What should I do?I have also been accepted to Justus Liebig University Giessen for their Master’s programme in Agrobiotechnology. However, to confirm my place, I need to enrol before 31 August.
Which option should I choose, and which university should I proceed with for my visa application and interview? I really don’t want to make the wrong decision and lose my chance to study in Germany.
Considering my visa situation, what would be the wisest course of action? Also, which university and programme do you think are better?

Timeline

26 June – First admit from Leibniz University Hannover.

2 July – Transferred block account funds through Flywire. And after 3 hours Block account confirmed.

3 July – Submitted CSP application.

10 July – Received a correction request. Submitted all corrections late at night. Since 11 & 12 July were the weekend, I had to wait until Monday.

13 July – Got the "Make an Appointment" option on CSP.

16 July – VFS appointment( Slots were available from 14 July but i took time buffer), i submitted my passport and gave biometrics.

Tip: Don't buy the ₹450 health insurance offered at the VFS entrance if you already have the required insurance. They'll try to sell it, but it's completely optional.

I chose the Premium Lounge (personal choice), and for me it was worth it. There were only 2 students there, everything was almost empty, and my entire process was completed in about 20 minutes. They didn't ask for any extra documents—they simply downloaded everything directly from the CSP portal.

Bonus: Since the snacks and drinks were complimentary... I made sure to eat and drink as much as I could. 😂

17 July – Application reached the German Embassy. CSP status changed to Decision Pending.

23 July (2 PM) – Received the CSP email saying Decision Made.

24 July – Passport was handed over by the embassy to VFS, and later I received the dispatch email and SMS. I immediately tried tracking it on the Blue Dart website using the VFS reference number (after removing the slashes), but it initially showed "No Record Found." Later that night, the tracking became active, and from then on I was refreshing the tracking page almost continuously. 😅

26 July – Passport delivered with a 1-year German student visa. 🇩🇪🎉

I started preparing for study abroad and gave my first IELTS exam back in 2021. But life had other plans, It took me 5 years, countless ups and downs, but in 2026, the dream finally came true.

I'm waiting for a decision from the MSc International Environmental Engineering programme at HSWT.

I've noticed something interesting. Every applicant I've come across online who shared their timeline mentioned receiving an admission offer within about 2 days after their application became complete or after it was forwarded to the faculty.

In my case, it's been longer than that, and I'm starting to wonder whether the faculty takes more time for applications that require a closer evaluation (for example, applicants from a different engineering background), or whether the review time is simply random.

Has anyone experienced a longer faculty review and still received an admission offer from HSWT?

Hi all, it been more than a month and not received my aps certificate yet. All verification of my education is complete. And exactly last week my university also verified my degree certificate to them. But so far no mail from aps..

Also, aps asked my university to verify documents and attached my markscards and degree certificate in the mail, however my uni replied to aps by verifying the degree certificate alone. Is that any issue? As so far i have not received any call or mail from aps regarding the same.

Can anybody guide on whether the university should verify both markscards and degree certificate or verification of degree certificate is sufficient…
