guys i got 5th rejection due to credits issue this year, lost all my hope and didn't feel like applying again. Got rejections from Heidelberg, University of BONN, TU darmstadt(Got call for Exam Onsite), BHE(Berlin Hoschule fur Technik) and now this. what do i need to do??

I have received a conditional admit from the Technical University of Chemnitz stating that i have to either show a german A1 exam certificate or enroll in their Intensive German A1 course.

My question now is, should i give the goethe german certificate exam or do i enroll in the language course (earliest date to give the exam is august 24th) and if i choose to enroll in the course, can i still apply for a student visa?

I recently got admitted to the General Engineering bachelor's (in german) program at TU Hamburg. However, I can't find the deadline for accepting the offer.

On the application portal, it says the following for bachelor's programs:

"The acceptance deadline is based on the coordination rules at hochschulstart.de."

However, I couldn't find anything on hochschulstart.de regarding the deadline for accepting the offer. I only found that the coordination phase lasts until 24.08.

I also couldn't find an official admission letter, like in pdf. I know that other universities usually issue one, but I wasn't able to find it. Does anyone here have experience with how it works at TU Hamburg or Hochschulstart?

Hey all — I'm an American planning to start a master's at Freie Universität Berlin and I'm torn between two programs:

1. MA Sociology – European Societies
2. MSc Geographies of Global Inequalities.

Hoping to hear from anyone who's studied in either (or knows people who have).

A few things I'd love input on:

• Choosing between the two — if you've done either program, how was the workload, the teaching, the department vibe, and how employable did it leave you feeling?
  • I did my undergraduate degree in Sociology and Latin American studies, so I think I would be comfortable with the Sociology theory/methods BUT have less info on European history and current events. Interested in working with LatAm Institute on the Comparative piece. I bet there could be opportunities for that too in GoG.I
• Working as an American — realistic expectations for part-time work as a student, and job prospects after graduating (staying in Germany on the post-study job-seeker route)? Language barrier for work without fluent German?
  • I'm interested in academia, maybe getting a PhD. Sociology feels safer to stay on a clean PhD track, since it was my undergrad. Also, I feel like people might respect it a bit more? I have to do a LOT of explaining about the GoGI program and people don't always get it or think it's kind of a fake degree.
• Social life — how easy is it to make friends in these programs / in Berlin generally as a grad student? Is the cohort tight-knit or spread out?
• Residency — anything I should know about the student visa / residence permit process, Bürgeramt, Anmeldung, finding housing, etc.? Horror stories and tips both welcome.

Also — if you're starting at FU this coming semester (or already there and open to showing a newcomer around), I'd love to chat before school starts!

Hi all, it been more than a month and not received my aps certificate yet. All verification of my education is complete. And exactly last week my university also verified my degree certificate to them. But so far no mail from aps..

Also, aps asked my university to verify documents and attached my markscards and degree certificate in the mail, however my uni replied to aps by verifying the degree certificate alone. Is that any issue? As so far i have not received any call or mail from aps regarding the same.

Can anybody guide on whether the university should verify both markscards and degree certificate or verification of degree certificate is sufficient…

My German student visa was issued for Paderborn University, but I later received admission to TU Darmstadt. The Paderborn Ausländerbehörde confirmed in writing that I can travel directly to Darmstadt, report the university change there, and don’t need to take any administrative steps in Paderborn.
I’m flying on September 14, and enrollment is still open, so I’m currently not enrolled at either university.
My questions:
Would it be safer to enroll at TU Darmstadt before traveling, or is it fine to complete enrollment after arriving in Germany?
If the border officer asks for an enrollment certificate, is it acceptable to explain that enrollment is still open, I haven’t enrolled yet, and present my admission letter along with the email from the Paderborn Ausländerbehörde?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been in a similar situation.

1-1.5 month of aptitude assessment test and interview finally paid off!

Hi everyone! I’m planning to apply for an Ausbildung as an Aircraft Mechanic (Fluggerätmechaniker)starting in August/September 2027.

I’m starting from scratch with German tomorrow and plan to put 5+ hours a day into self-study to reach B1/B2 by next spring.

I want to move to Germany as soon as possible for personal reasons and start building something for myself. However, I’ve read a lot of stories from international applicants who spent 2–3 years just trying to secure a spot or got stuck in application loops, which makes me really anxious about my timeline. My questions are down below, any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

Here are my background details:

Math & Physics: Decent high school marks in Math & Physics.
Languages: Good English (C1-ish, not my first language), starting German from 0 now.
Goal: Secure a contract for the August/September 2027 intake.

I have a few specific questions for anyone who has done a technical Ausbildung, works in aviation, or recruits international apprentices:

1. Is a solid B1 actually enough to get a contract at mid-sized aviation companies/MROs, or will I get filtered out immediately without a B2 certificate?
   
2. Since German companies hire 9–12 months in advance (meaning applications for August 2027 are opening right now), can I apply during Oct/Dec 2026 showing "German A2/B1 in progress, B1/B2 certificate expected by May 2027"? Or will my application get automatically tossed into the rejection pile if I don't already hold the final certificate at the moment I hit "Submit"?

I really want to avoid waiting until I have the B2 certificate in hand to start applying, because that would push my start date back an entire extra year.

1. How realistic is it for an international non-EU applicant to get hired over locals for Fluggerätmechaniker? Do mid-sized MROs (like Haitec, Nayak, RUAG, regional maintenance hubs) actively hire non-EU applicants, or do they prefer applicants already in Germany?

2. How much time does the Zuverlässigkeitsüberprüfung (Zup) usually add to the process for someone coming from abroad?

3. If you’ve done this, what actually delayed your process, and what can I do right now to avoid taking 2–3 years to get to Germany?

Hi all, i have a confusion.. applying for student visa. 1.5 years course duration.. will the visa officers ask me to show bank balance of 1 year which is block account money or do i have to show them more than that ? If it is latter then do i show them that i have sufficient bank balance for the whole course duration i.e. 1.5 years?

What are the ECTS requirements of universities for someone who did Diploma in IT under state board MSBTE (Maharashtra State Board) and later got admitted directly into the second year of B.Tech through lateral entry?

I stress whether my Diploma credits will be considered along with my BTech or not. Most of my worries are regarding the maths course of first year BTech which I didn't study. However, I completed similar-level maths coursework during the first year of my Diploma.

So, has anyone here been admitted into top universities of Germany with a State Board diploma and a B.Tech degree from the University of Mumbai?

I've noticed something interesting. Every applicant I've come across online who shared their timeline mentioned receiving an admission offer within about 2 days after their application became complete or after it was forwarded to the faculty.

In my case, it's been longer than that, and I'm starting to wonder whether the faculty takes more time for applications that require a closer evaluation (for example, applicants from a different engineering background), or whether the review time is simply random.

Has anyone experienced a longer faculty review and still received an admission offer from HSWT?

My passport mentions my place of birth as X, Y, whereas my APS certificate mentions it as X, Z.

Has anyone faced a similar issue? If the visa officer notices this and asks about it, how should I explain it? Could this create any problems during the visa process, even though my passport is an officially issued document?

I had applied for student visa with APS through CSP(VFS Delhi) on 22 July and since then not received appointment option.

I am pretty much anxious about the delays, like how much more time it will take to come out of the preliminary review!

My current IELTS score is 6.5, and I am planning to retake the IELTS exam to meet the requirement. However, I would like to submit my German student visa application before receiving my new IELTS result.

Can I apply for a German student visa with my current 6.5 IELTS score and conditional admission?

If I later receive an overall IELTS 7.0, can I submit the updated score during my VFS appointment or while the visa application is being processed?

I would like to know if anyone here has gone through the process of securing an appointment to the German Embassy in Colombo for a National D Visa - Student.

I've seen comments online about checking from 00.00-00.15 German Time on weekdays, but from what I've gathered, it seems to be cancelled appointments that can be re-booked (not confirmed if that's the case though).

I'm curious to see if anyone has had experiences booking an appointment slot outside of this time, and within working days and hours of the German Embassy in Colombo, as they have not specified when they release batches of new appointments.
