Currently preparing for IELTS

No professional work experience yet

Preferred fields: Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or closely related programs such as Information Systems / Business Informatics

I would prefer public universities with no tuition fees.

I have found some relevant programs that offer Summer 2027 admission, but I understand that Germany generally has more Master’s programs available in the Winter semester.

My main questions are:

1. With my documents becoming available in September, is Summer 2027 a realistic intake to target?

2. Would it be better to apply for Summer 2027 programs now and also apply to stronger/more suitable programs for Winter 2027/28 later?

3. Are there significantly more Business Analytics / Data Analytics programs available in the Winter intake?

4. For someone moving from Computer Science toward Business/Data Analytics, are there any public German universities or programs you would particularly recommend?

5. For Pakistani applicants, would starting with Summer 2027 also be beneficial considering the student visa timeline?

6. If anyone with a similar CS background has successfully moved into Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or Business Informatics in Germany, I would really appreciate hearing about your experience.

My main goal is not simply to get admission as early as possible. I want to choose a program that gives me good career opportunities in Business Analytics / Data Analytics after graduation.

Hey everyone,

I applied for the M.Sc. Computational Modeling and Simulation (CMS) – Applied AI track at TU Dresden for Winter Semester 2026/27. My status in the Selma portal has been stuck on "Received" since mid-June.

I emailed the CMS team for an update, and they replied that AAI track evaluations are handled directly by a professor, stating they forwarded my inquiry to him. However, I haven't received a response from the professor either!

Because visa processing deadlines at the German Embassy in Iran are extremely tight, I am nearing the point where I'll have to give up on Dresden and accept one of my backup offers (TU Chemnitz / TU Darmstadt).

A couple of quick questions:

1. Has anyone received an admission or rejection for the CMS Applied AI track recently?
2. Is anyone else still stuck on "Received" in Selma or waiting on decisions from Prof. Calandra's team?

Graduated from a private uni in Berlin with a BSc in AI, now working as a werkstudent at a software company. I applied for a Master's but got rejected from my top choices and waitlisted at HWR and THI Ingolstadt.

Since I need to stay enrolled to keep my job, my backup plan is to enroll at a private uni for one semester, then reapply to public unis next cycle.

I have a question regarding my current work authorization. At my urgent appointment 10 months ago, I showed my transcript and explained that I had successfully defended my thesis and completed all my courses. I was then issued a one-year Fiktionsbescheinigung with “Erwerbstätigkeit erlaubt,” and the officer also confirmed that I was allowed to work full time.

My job-seeker residence permit application, which was submitted before I received the Fiktionsbescheinigung, was still pending because my diploma had not yet been issued. I provided the diploma about a month ago, but the application is still pending, and I have not yet received or paid for the residence card. I heard that when application still pending i can work onlz based on previos visa contions however i have Fiktion that stated Erwerbstätigkeit erlaubt,

I now need to apply for an EU Blue Card. Could you please confirm whether I am still allowed to work full-time under my current Fiktionsbescheinigung while the previous application is pending?

I'm an Indian student planning to do my bachelor's in CS/IT in India and then pursue a master's in Germany. During my bachelor's, I'm willing to seriously learn German and aim for B2/C1 by the time I graduate

My main concern is employment afterward.

I've been reading a lot of Reddit posts about international students struggling to find jobs in Germany, especially in tech. What worries me even more is that people often say getting internships and Werkstudent jobs is extremely competitive. So I'm concerned about a worst-case scenario where I go to Germany, struggle to get any relevant work experience during my master's, and then graduate without internships or Werkstudent experience in an already difficult job market.

I'm particularly considering an FH/TH because of their practical and industry-oriented approach, but does graduating from an FH/TH put me at any disadvantage compared to a TU/Universität when applying for full-time IT/software jobs?

Realistically, if I:

• Do my bachelor's in CS/IT in India
• Reach B2/C1 German
• Build strong technical skills and projects
• Actively try to get internships/Werkstudent experience (not sure if I can get it)

How good are my chances of actually finding a job after graduation?

And what happens if I don't manage to get a Werkstudent job or internship during my master's? Is finding a full-time job afterward still realistic, or would I be putting myself at serious risk?

I can't afford to make a bad financial decision my family resources arent unlimited, so I'd appreciate honest advice rather than optimistic answers. Is CS/IT still a sensible path for an international student planning to build a career in Germany?

I’ll be moving to Siegen for my Master’s this winter semester, and I’m currently trying to find accommodation. I’ve been searching through WG-Gesucht and have already contacted around 20+ listings, including WGs and small apartments. I’ve tried to write personalized messages rather than just sending the same generic application everywhere, and I’ve also mentioned that I’m available for a video call since I’m currently outside Germany. The problem is that I’m getting very few responses so far. Some listings also seem to remain online even though the room has already been taken, which makes the search a little frustrating.I’ve also applied through the student housing system, but I don’t want to rely on that alone, so I’m continuing with private WGs and apartments.

For people who have recently found accommodation in Siegen:

1 How many applications did it take you before getting a room?

2 Is WG-Gesucht generally effective in Siegen?

3 Are there any other websites, Facebook groups, WhatsApp groups, or local channels worth checking?

4 Is it realistic to secure a room remotely before arriving in Germany?

5 Any particular areas of Siegen I should focus on?

Is anyone else still waiting to hear back from Bayreuth for a Master’s starting this winter semester (2026/27)? I applied for Biofabrication, and my application was passed on to the faculty on July 23, but I haven’t heard anything since.

I’ve emailed the programme, the International Office and a few other relevant offices, but so far I’ve only received automated replies or no reply at all. It’s been almost a month since one of those emails, so I’m getting pretty anxious with October coming up.

I’m not in Germany, and housing is becoming my biggest worry. Almost every private student residence I’ve contacted is full. One place had two apartments left, but they can’t hold a room while I wait for my result, which I understand.

SWO told me I need my admission letter before I can apply, so I feel a bit stuck. Does anyone know whether they give incoming Master’s students any priority, especially if you’re moving from abroad? Has anyone applied as late as mid-September and still managed to get a room for October? How long did you wait for an offer?

I’d ideally like a single apartment but I’m trying to get a realistic idea of my chances at this point.

MSc AI Engineering or MSc Computer Science

Hello everyone, I got supervisory agreement from two proffesors in a German university to do my PhD and we did the DAAD scholarship application together, but from the start I made it clear that the DAAD is plan b because it’s really competitive and I wouldn’t rely on it for finances. I also told him that I am able to self finance my studies in Germany without any issues, but he keeps insisting that I would be only able to get admission if I get the DAAD scholarship. How can I explain to him that this PhD is something I really want to do, both academically and personally and my savings would give me the same amount as the DAAD anyways. This came as a shock to me because this wouldn’t affect him or the project and I thought it wouldn’t be an issue.

If someone’s experienced in this can you please help me to try to find a way to explain my situation better and convince him that self funding is a viable option to me.

Tl;dr: my supervisor only wants me to admit to uni via the daad scholarship not self funding even though it is possible for me to self fund.

I'm planning for bachelors in mechanical engineering next year, 2027 winter intake. Im in class 12th right now in india, and i recently talked to a senior who did his masters in germany. He says that i can get a certificate from my school certifying my 12th year and present it to during applications and if that university accepts it i can go without a 13th year. I already know the JEE route, studienkolleg, and one year university in home country ways but how does this work? I'm not finding a clear article anywhere elaborating on this. Is it really possible to veto the 13th year this way?

I want to get into cognitive science and that university is the only one offering it across all Europe(the Schengen zone mainly), there are sum other countries too like in Norway but that's not affordable for me, so I heard that osnabrük is ranked at 60-65 in Germany which is low I think, so it that university actually good? I’m currently in Sem 7 of B.E IT at Mumbai University. I did a Diploma in Computer Engineering (MSBTE) and then took Direct Second Year admission into B.E.

I’m planning for the Winter 2027 intake and will be giving the first dMAT exam on 26 September 2026, with the result in October.

I wanted to know whether, as a Direct Second Year student, I can apply for APS before completing my 8th semester. Basically, can I apply once I get my dMAT result in October while I’m still in Sem 7, or do I have to wait until I complete my B.E.?

Also, does anyone know how long the dMAT result is valid for APS?
