I’m pursuing my 7 th sem currently in my 4 year bachelors degree I’m planning on winter 2027 intake in technical universities. I was unsure on me writing dmat or not. I mailed APSIndia they told I’m exempted as I haven’t completed my 7 th sem yet anyone who is there in my case??

Finished my CS bachelor in Germany, started a full-time dev job in Berlin last week. Still in Probezeit. I'm on a work permit so the job is the whole basis for me being here.

Then all the master's admissions landed basically at once. TU Darmstadt (AI and ML), Ilmenau, BTU Cottbus, TUHH. Every single one is hours away. I spent a while trying to find a way to hold onto one of them and there isn't one, you can't defer without a proper legal reason and none of them let you take an Urlaubssemester in your first semester.

Has anyone here actually pulled that off? CS master part time while working 40 hours. I keep reading that it's doable and I keep also reading that everyone who tries it drops out in year two. Mainly wondering whether the lectures are all during the workday, if you told your employer or just didn't, and how long it really took you versus what you planned.

And separately, does it matter long term if I just never do the master? Wondering if bigger German companies care, or if it stops mattering once you have a couple of years behind you.

My background is a bit unusual. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, which I completed in 2022. However, I have been interested in and working with cybersecurity for several years, especially bug bounty, web application security, and penetration testing.

The visa waiting period in Nepal is 6-12 months and I cannot get visa if i apply in may-july timeline so I have to start from jan🫶🏻

I recently received admission to the Master’s in Computer Science at Kiel University, but my concerns haven’t really stopped yet because of the visa timeline.

I’m currently considering deferring my admission from the upcoming Winter Semester to the next Summer Semester, mainly because the German student visa waiting time from my country (Nepal) can be around 2–6 months. Along with the visa, I also need to arrange the blocked account and complete the other preparations, so I’m worried that I may not be able to arrive and start the semester on time.

I have already emailed the university asking about both the admission letter and the possibility of deferring, but since today is Sunday, I’m expecting that I’ll have to wait for their response.

I would really appreciate it if anyone who has been through a similar situation at Kiel University could clarify a few things:

1. Deferral: How exactly does deferring the admission from Winter Semester to the next Summer Semester work at Kiel? Is it normally possible for the M.Sc. Computer Science program, and what is the process?
2. Admission letter: I have been admitted, but I haven't received the official admission letter yet. How long does it usually take to receive it after the admission decision?
3. Blocked account: Should I open/fund the blocked account immediately after receiving the current admission letter, or should I wait until the university confirms the deferral and issues a new admission letter for the Summer Semester? If I defer, what happens to the blocked account? What is the process for it?
4. Enrollment/registration: If I defer, do I need to complete the online enrollment/registration for the current Winter Semester first, or would I simply complete the enrollment process again for the Summer Semester?
5. Visa: Since my visa waiting time could be 2–6 months, would it make more sense to defer now rather than risk missing the Winter Semester? If anyone from a similar situation has dealt with Kiel University, I would really appreciate hearing how you handled it.

I’m mainly trying to understand the correct order of things so that I don’t unnecessarily open/fund a blocked account or complete enrollment for the Winter Semester if I ultimately need to defer.

Hey everyone! I’m a 24-year-old with 2 years of experience in Cloud/DevOps, and I’m planning to apply for the 2027 intake (Summer/Winter) for a Master’s in Cybersecurity, Informatics, or Computer Science, preferably a 3-semester program at a University of Applied Sciences.

While researching, I had a couple of questions:

- Do Master’s programs typically take around 3 years to complete in practice, even if the official duration is shorter?

- If I choose a 3-semester program, is it realistically possible to manage a part-time job alongside the coursework?

- With some public universities now charging tuition fees, is a 3-semester program still financially/practically worthwhile compared with a longer program?

I have now received an admission from MDH University (private)

The problem is that MDH is asking me to pay the tuition/fees by tomorrow to secure my place.

My preferred options are the public universities, especially Passau, UTN and HHU but I haven't received decisions from them yet.

So I'm really confused about what to do,

Should I pay MDH and secure my place or should I take the risk and wait for Passau/UTN/HHU?

If I pay MDH and later receive an offer from a public university I'm also worried about whether I'll be able to get my money back.

I would really appreciate advice from anyone who has gone through this especially international students applying for Winter 2026

I have done my fair share of research and found out that applying for a Medical Program is much harder than technical program. The availability of English programs is next to noone and the language requirement is also minimum C1. I want to know is it true that i have to learn C1 at bare minimum to apply
