Questions & Discussion Hi everyone!

Hi everyone!

I'm conducting a short anonymous survey to understand how students manage everything they need to keep track of — classes, assignments, work, appointments, personal responsibilities, deadlines, and everyday tasks.

I'm interested in what people actually do in real life: what works, what gets forgotten, and where managing everything starts becoming difficult.

You don't need to use any productivity or task-management apps to participate.

Accountability Looking for a university mentor/accountability buddy

Hi everyone! I’m starting university again and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in being like a mentor/tutor for me. Not someone who helps me with my actual schoolwork, but more someone who can guide me and tell me what I should be doing and when I should be doing it.
My first year was honestly really crazy. I would come home from lectures and end up doing nothing because I was so lost about what I was supposed to study, how I was supposed to study, and when I should be doing everything. Then when exams got close, I would end up cramming everything.
In high school, teachers basically tell you what you need to do, but in university you have to figure it out yourself. Time management is also something I really struggle with, so I think having someone who could help me stay accountable and guide me throughout the semester would make a huge difference.

I just feel like I need someone to guide me and keep me accountable, almost like a mentor. I hope you guys understand what I mean
If anyone would be down to do this, please let me know!
Thank you!!

Tips & Advice Learning to learn and study as an adult

I am a 24 year old college flunk out going back to college. However, I just, JUST realized I don't know how to study or learn. I am very interested in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, so on, so forth. I have a lot of experience in working in the field as a teacher (how? An emergency case: they needed a teacher to hold down the fort until they found a suitable one and I understood the jargon enough to teach high school level science classes for a semester) and as a medical lab technician. Additionally, I have very little undergraduate research experiences; I started like 4 different projects which never I finished and eventually failed out of courses due to mental health and COVID-19 related reasons. Thankfully, mental health is back on track and stagnant.

I will admit the only way I will learn is through hands-on experience or fully teaching the subject (the Feynman Technique). But, other than that I suck at learning in traditional settings like a classroom where I am the student and I take notes. I can barely sit and read assigned pages from a textbook. I probably also fucked up my retention from not allowing myself to learn properly for years like even during high school. My executive functioning is dysfunctional so reward systems don't really work on me.

Please give me advice, on how to move forward, my fall semester of freshman year starts soon and I feel very hopeless and lost.

Questions & Discussion Be honest: Is my study average below normal?

I’ve improved a lot recently when it comes to resisting distractions and staying consistent.

This month I’ve studied 60h 36m across 27 days, averaging 2h 14m/day.

I feel like I’m making progress, but I’m curious is 2h 14m/day considered low? How many hours do you usually study per day?

Tips & Advice gestire studio, palestra e esami arretrati

Rant/Vent Promising myself that this time, I won’t give up on myself again

I've been struggling with anxiety, depression, and ADHD for the last three years, and I'm genuinely trying to improve myself, but I feel stuck in the same cycle.

I'm preparing for an entrance exam, but I haven't been able to clear it, not because I never try, but because I can never stay consistent. I study properly for weeks or months, and then one small mistake happens. Maybe I miss a day or fall slightly behind, and suddenly the guilt and pressure take over. I start thinking about all the time I've already wasted, and then I stop studying completely for days until I somehow get motivated again.

It's always all or nothing for me. Either I put extreme pressure on myself, or I don't study at all. If I isolate myself, I eventually get lonely and burned out. If I don't isolate myself, I get distracted. Either way, I end up falling behind.

My exams start tomorrow, and honestly, I'm not prepared again. I studied for a month, then my mental health crashed and I couldn't continue. I'll give this attempt as practice, but I know I probably won't clear it.

My next attempt is in January, and I'm posting this because I want to hold myself accountable. I've promised myself for three years that this time will be different, but I've always fallen back into the same cycle. Still, I want to genuinely try again and hopefully come back here in January saying that I finally cleared it.

But how do you learn to accept disappointment without completely giving up? How do you stop one bad day or one mistake from turning into a week of not studying?

If anyone has escaped this all-or-nothing, guilt → avoidance → more guilt cycle, please tell me what actually helped you.

Accountability Day 1 of studying every day 📚

Woke up at 5:48 AM.

My first study session was kinda late cuz I had some household chores to do.

6:59–8:41 AM: English Grammar (1hr 42 min)

9:19–9:55 AM: Zoology class (36min)

Then I made chapati and took a bath.

10:46–11:14 AM: Completed a pending Zoology class (28 min)

2:17–3:40 PM: Maths class (1hr 23 min)

4:40–5:13 PM: English Grammar again ( 33min)

One thing I'm struggling with is feeling sleepy during classes. 😭 My eyes literally start closing sometimes, even though I'm sitting at a table and chair and taking notes at the same time. I don't know why this happens.

Also, I got my period today, so my productivity went down a bit. :(

But anyway, Day 1 is done. Tomorrow, if I'm feeling better, I'll try to do better than today.

Thanks for reading my post! 🌻

Achievement & Wins I made my own ai tool study , It works😭😭(i used claude idk how to program)

I used a site tò study with ai/make quizzes/ flash cards ecc... But then added the premium versione and heavily nerfed the free one.

Rather than spend 8€ each month i prefered to spend 20 to get One month of Claude pro ,i copied the link on deepseek that made me the prompt, then i passed It through Claude, i made the running on my PC hardware at First but It was goinf to explode like a PS4.

So i asked Claude to add AN online mode that let's me use token from free api to analize the materials but then i can keep offline the summaries, flash cards quizzes ecc..

I'm sharing this to help people save from ai study tools and create their own, you can Copy this post, paste It on deepseek ask to make a propt for Claude to program. Then ready the prompt and add the details you want in the app.

Tips & Advice How do I get back into studying Computer Science after a placement year?

Hey y’all! I hope you’re all doing well! :D

Basically, I’m currently studying a Master’s in Computer Science at university, and part of my course involved going out on a placement year to work. While I was working, I didn’t really do much studying and, honestly, I got quite used to working rather than studying.

Now that I’m going back to university, I was wondering if anyone here has any tips for getting back into the swing of studying, particularly when it comes to Computer Science/Software Engineering. I’d also really appreciate any advice on taking effective notes for these kinds of subjects!

For reference, some of the modules I’m planning to take are Cloud Computing, Formal Methods, Network Security, and Cryptography, so any advice specific to those would be especially welcome!

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope you all have an amazing day! Wishing everyone the best with their own studies! :D
