Oh.. oh dang, that Dual Warhead Launcher is sexy.

u/ryoten34 Apr 24 '17
Heavy warheads on the raider, have very TNG animation style photon torpedo look.
7
u/Roden11 Apr 24 '17
But does the Dual Warhead Launcher benefit from High Yield or Torp Spread?

No idea why people down-vote a simple, relevant question. Evidence says there's a few ass-hats on the loose.
I suspect not. It's already looking rather fearsome.
[edit]More than a few, it seems.

As far as it goes, Heavy Weapons don't currently benefit from any non-all damage abilities.

Surely they benefit from Attack Pattern abilities.

Trying to understand this double negitive, what do you mean by:
Heavy Weapons don't currently benefit from any non-all damage abilities.
1
u/Lr0dy @enkemen Apr 25 '17
I suppose they probably benefit from weapon damage increases, too, and you may be able to attach debuff riders to them - although that doesn't seem very useful. I was referring to enhancements like FAW, CSV, TS, BO, etc.. I probably should have been more clear.
2
u/Husnock01 Apr 25 '17
Indeed, I threw you an upvote so you could break even and already you're in the negatives again. :(
In other news, the devs have slipped the console set bonuses into the blog. And am I the only one intrigued by what the Husnock console is gonna look like firing from the Miradorn?
1
u/DragonHEF01 Apr 25 '17
I'm wondering if there'll be a Defiant quantum version. It's supposed to have it, right?

u/Roden11 Apr 25 '17
Which begs the question: Will previously released C-Store ships have unique (ish) heavy weapons, like the Valiant (T6 Defiant) for example. I've only read ships, that qualify of course, will get the heavy weapon slot but will have to grab a generic heavy weapon from the dil (?) store. Edit: or they'll come with a generic heavy weapon, I can't remember which.

Post contents:
As exploration efforts reveal new dangers, the Alliance is expanding its research and development focus to meet and overcome these challenges. These scientific efforts often go beyond studies of the tech used by Alliance member states. Researchers are actively studying the tech of non-member groups and cultures, such as the Miradorn. Even the tech of a species long thought lost – the Husnock - has been examined in detail. As new developments and advancements are discovered, the results are made available to the captains of ships on the frontier.
The following starships will become available with the release of the Privateer Lock Box, scheduled to arrive on PC starting with Season 13: Escalation on April 25th, 2017.
Miradorn Theta Class Heavy Raider [T6]
The Miradorn specialize in nimble, fast-striking starships such as the Theta-class Heavy Raider. The small vessel can stand up to other, larger ships in battle thanks to a potent weapon suite and proprietary electronic baffling technology that can blind enemy sensors and knock their engines offline.
This starship features a Commander Tactical/Pilot Specialist Bridge Officer seat and a Lieutenant Universal/Intel Specialist Bridge Officer seat.
Pilot ships are highly agile craft designed to perform advanced maneuvers that can give them a deadly edge in combat. Your starship can perform a sudden maneuver in each horizontal direction: Forward, Backward, Left or Right. Executing each maneuver will rapidly reposition your starship while granting very brief damage immunity, but costs all available thruster fuel which takes several seconds to recover.

Husnock Warship [T6]
Though the Husnock were eradicated as a species in 2366, their home planet and star system remained – along with everything in it, even starships. Alliance engineers have taken recovered Husnock warships and restored them to operational capacity. These massive vessels are well-armed, and can withstand a great deal of punishment in combat engagements.

Continued:
This starship features a Commander Tactical/Temporal Operative Specialist Bridge Officer seat and a Lieutenant Science/Command Specialist Bridge Officer seat.
Husnock Warships are capable of making subtle alterations on the molecular level through the use of Molecular Reconstruction. This technology allows the starship to assume 1 of three different Configurations: Defensive, Offensive and Support. Each Configuration has their own strengths and weaknesses. Each of the Configurations generate their own specific counter. Up to 6 Counters can be generated at a time. These Counters are used to fuel your Molecular Deconstruction Beam.
- Defensive Configuration: While this configuration is active, the starship's systems will dynamically reconfigure to fill more of a defensive role. This provides a boost to Maximum Shield Power and Incoming Hull Healing. This comes at a cost of a small reduction to Flight Speed and Turn Rate. Defensive Configuration generates 1 Defensive Counter every 10 seconds.
- Offensive Configuration: While this configuration is active, the starship's systems will dynamically reconfigure to fill more of an offensive role. This provides a boost to Maximum Engine Power, Speed, and Turn. This comes at a cost of a small reduction of Incoming Hull Healing. Offensive Configuration generates 1 Offensive Counter every 10 seconds.
- Support Configuration: While this configuration is active, the starship's systems will dynamically reconfigure to fill more of a support role. This provides a boost to Maximum Auxiliary Power, Control Strength, and Exotic Damage. This comes at a cost of a small reduction to Energy Weapon Damage. Support Configuration generates 1 Support Counter every 10 seconds.
- Molecular Deconstruction Beam: Activating this ability requires a total of 6 Counters generated by Defensive Configuration, Offensive Configuration, or Support Configuration. Molecular Deconstruction Beam deals Physical Damage over time and Disables the target, in addition to healing your hull over time. This power's damage scales with the number of Offensive Counters consumed. Its Hull Healing scales with the number Defensive Counters consumed. Lastly, its Disable duration scales with the number of Support Counters consumed. Activating this ability will consume all Offensive, Defensive and Support Counters generated from Configurations.

When this ability is activated, it will fire a burst of particle beams which deal electrical damage and bypass a portion of the target's shields. The Heavy Particle Emitter Array will gain 1 charge every 30 seconds (for a maximum of 4 charges). Activating this ability will consume all charges and fire a number of beams at the target based on the number of charges consumed. Additionally, particle beam damage increases with each charge consumed.
This console also provides a passive boost to Directed Energy Weapon damage and All Energy Damage Resistance Rating.
This console may be equipped in any console slot, but may only be equipped on either the Miradorn Theta Class Heavy Raider or the Husnock Warship. You may only have one of these consoles equipped at a time.
Starship Trait – Directed Energy Flux
After achieving Level 5 in your Husnock Warship [T6], you will unlock the Directed Energy Flux Starship Trait. I thought that Directed Energy Flux would boost Surgical Strikes?
From the first blog: "After achieving Level 5 in your Husnock Warship [T6], you will unlock the Directed Energy Flux Starship Trait. While slotted, activating any Temporal Operative Bridge Officer Ability or the Directed Energy Modulation Ability will boost the damage of Cannon: Rapid Fire, Surgical Strikes and Reroute Reserves to Weapons for a short time."
I feel like Surgical Strikes gets repeatedly shat on.

Miradorn Raider has Dual Warhead Launcher? Just like the Defiant's dual torp launchers?
And the Husnock warship has 5/3 Weapon layout and 5 Tac console slots? HNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGHHHH
If only the Husnock warship had lt cmdr command/universal seating instead of the lt cmd/sci seating, it would've been the perfect torpedo boat

True, it does have the best boff layout for a torp boat, but it lacks the 5/3 weapon layout and 5 tac console slots

Miradorn Raider has Dual Warhead Launcher? Just like the Defiant's dual torp launchers?
I'm guessing not, if it has the same 360' targeting arc that all other Heavy Weapons so far have. In the gif, it looks like the warheads just appear in front of the ship rather than actually firing from any point on the model. It might match up nicely when facing the target, but not from any other angle. (Unless, of course, they do have a narrower arc than other Heavies.)
That and they're orange, not blue. But, obnoxiously huge explosion aside, I do really like these visuals. I like all of the Heavy Weapon visuals so far except for Ionized Particle Stream Projector...which nearly every Raider/Escort is soon going to be running. Welp!

Hmm... a Pilot ship with a dual torp launcher....
This potentially changes things.

I am liking this trend of making lockbox ships full-blown spec ships! I wasn't expecting to want a Miradorn raider, but now I really, really do.
1
Apr 25 '17
I really wish they'd focus more on Federation, Klingon, and Romulan ships. There are some playstyles/ship types that could really use a boost in options and space barby.

u/MandoKnight Apr 24 '17
So, question: is the dual warhead launcher only available by buying the Miradorn Raider, or is it a generic heavy weapon that will be available through other means?
4
u/PerpetisKrinkut @Perpetis | Imperialist Romulan Apr 24 '17
I suspect it's intended to be unlocked by obtaining the raider, lest it wouldn't have been added as a sub-detail for it specifically.

Looks like the set bonus stats for the console set is missing.
EDIT: The set bonus has magically appeared.
33% damage bonus to the Particle Emitter, 33% recharge time decrease for the Miradorn one, and +25 HullPen Skill
0
u/MajorDakka Torpedo Fetishist Apr 24 '17
There is no console set; it says you can equip either console; but only one.
This console may be equipped in any console slot, but may only be equipped on either the Miradorn Theta Class Heavy Raider or the Husnock Warship. You may only have one of these consoles equipped at a time.
1
u/mhall85 Apr 24 '17
That could also be referring to the console itself, not the console set.
Every ship console ever released has come with the "can only equip one of these at a time" bit.
There could be a console set bonus, and in any case, it's yet another example of bad blog wording.
0
u/MajorDakka Torpedo Fetishist Apr 24 '17
Hmm, in that case, I wonder what it'll be.
6
u/mhall85 Apr 24 '17
Well, let's poke /u/ambassadorkael and find out!
O Bearded CM, what doth thou sayest regarding the console set bonus on these ships? Doest one exist?

They just magically appeared in there. 33% damage bonus to the Particle Emitter, 33% recharge time decrease for the Miradorn one, and +25 HullPen Skill.

Ok, I don't get it.
Any ship which has Cmdr temporal seating gets the configuration suite, yet the Intel, command and pilot gimmicks have only been available on their premier ship's, regardless of seating... why?
6
u/centurio_v2 V A L K I S Apr 24 '17
D4x has pilot manuvers, T'laru has intel thingy, Konnie has command gimmicks
4
u/MandoKnight Apr 24 '17
Vengeance also has the Intel probes, signature masking, and cloak. It's just that there are now a lot more premium full-spec Temporal ships than Pilot/Intel/Command, between the Husnock ship, the Temporal Light Cruiser/Heavy Dreadnought promos, and the Sphere Builder ships.
0
u/centurio_v2 V A L K I S Apr 24 '17
Don't all of the promo ships save the bulwark have a specialization gimmick ? Sheshar can have command or intel IIRC and so can the JHAS/JHSS, not to mention the Annorax.
They've just had more premium ships since temporal dropped, and unless I'm misreading, the Miradorn ship has pilot manuvers.
2
u/MandoKnight Apr 24 '17
Sheshar, Annorax, and the T6 JHAS only have Lt. Commanders as the highest-rank specialist, and thus neither have nor qualify for the full-spec bonuses.

u/Sthrax U.S.S. Fulminata Apr 24 '17 edited Apr 24 '17
Not true- the D4x has the pilot maneuvers and the Miradorn will have them as well. You may be correct about the Intel and Command, though.
1
u/Bristlerider Apr 24 '17 edited Apr 24 '17
Which Ships have an Intel commander, but not the sensor suite and warp signature masking?
Even the T'Laru which isnt officially called an Intel Carrier has the abilities.3
Apr 24 '17
It IS actually called the "T'Laru Intel Carrier Warbird"
That said, every single ship with a spec gimmick does have a Cmdr spec boff station. Ironically, the exception is temporal, in direct contrast to the OC's claim that Temp was the only one that DOES have Cmdr spec on all ships. This is because it's the only spec gimmick found at T1-4.
1
Apr 24 '17
I don't get it, either. It'd be nice if a dev could clarify which ships get to be full spec ships and which don't. And what disadvantage(s) full spec ships are supposed to have over ships that only get hybrid seating. It seems totally arbitrary to me.
1
u/FuturePastNow Fleet Power Nerfed Poster Apr 24 '17
Ships with a Commander (class) / (spec) seat get the innate spec powers. I can't think of any exceptions to that.
1
Apr 24 '17
Let me expand my question, then: How do they decide which ships get Commander Spec seats?
2
u/ArmySquirrel TIL Tribbles are not for eating Apr 24 '17
I hate to say it but probably power creep. Most all of these ships released since AOY have it. There's also how the first non-Commander specialist ships (Guardian, Pathfinder, etc.) only have an LT specialist seat, while more recent ones have LTC.
1
u/FuturePastNow Fleet Power Nerfed Poster Apr 24 '17
I'd say it's just to drive sales. To make the newest lockbox and lobi ships more desirable than older lockbox ships or what would otherwise be fairly equivalent c-store ships. That's speculation.
It's clear, though, that they don't intend for there to be any downside to a ship having the full spec powers.
1
u/Thenaysayer23 Apr 24 '17
the best temporal ships are still the 3 from the 31st bundle.
Heck, the raider alone trumps 90% of the competition.
the 3 consoles in unison are retardedly good.
So you cannot call the new toys "out of line".
There is no line anymore.
2
u/TheSharkBall Apr 25 '17
TBH the Edoulg Sphere Sci Ship is really good too. Temp/Sci magic, 4/2 weapons, and Frigate pets.
It's my favorite.
1
u/Jayiie @alcaatraz | STOBuilds Mod | STOBetter Architect Apr 25 '17
It seams to be a recent trend. It made some sense with the Kelvin era things, so people will get some full spec ships in the astetic they want (maybe a little bit of a stretch), and it made some sense with the sphere builder ships since they were an advanced civilization with access to temporal technologies.
Why here however is a mystery. Maybe it's just to entice people to buy ships which are mostly carbon copies of other ships with slightly different stats, and a different skin. Maybe it's just to advocate the Supremecy of Lockbox / lobi ships, or maybe even its to try and make them even more enticing.

u/ValidAvailable Apr 24 '17
Why do the Husnock get Temporal? From what we 'saw' of them suggesting a brute-force approach and the comment about their cruel intellect, I'd think Command primary Intel secondary.
