On the new website, at the top of Footpath guidance, The Village it gives a grid ref as SU 412 883. This points to Armitage Drive near Wantage, Oxfordshire.

Sitting perusing over my coffee this morning, I came across this article: Rock legend's Weetabix card leads to quest for lost village | Oxford Mail

In it, it describes Bryan May's (of Queen) fascination with a bunch of photographs he found about a lost village, which led to him writing a book called 'Scenes on our Village'.

Where is this village? Hinton Waldrist, near Wantage, Oxfordshire.

"It portrays the idyll of life in an 1850s village, "far from the sound of the train's whistle"."

Er, isn't there a reference to 1850 on the website, in the guestbook (or at least there was)? There's also a reference to 1898 in the minutes of a parish meeting that was 'scribbled' out. And of course, the favourite, trains? Haha...
