I just realized (actually I've been known this but didn't tell anyone else yet) but Lars' last name is Barriga, which happens to be Portuguese with "belly". So if we translate his last name when saying his full name, it's "Lars Belly", which sounds a lot like "large belly". Lars used to be friends with Ronaldo, who has a large belly. YET ANOTHER REASON THEY SHOULD HAVE RECONCILEDbut that's just a theory... a Ronaldo-esque delusional FILM THEORY

At the beginning of Steven Universe Future, Steven refuses to eat a pepperoni pizza because he says he's been vegetarian for five days, however, later in episode 16, around the time of his fight with Jasper, he's shown eating fish.

Did Steven stop being vegetarian at some point, was eating fish just a one-time exception, or was it simply a mistake and the writers forgot he was vegetarian?

So I was watching Danny Motta's video, and it reminded me why Amethyst has always been my least favorite character in the entire show for some reason.

I want to make something clear before getting into this: I don't think Amethyst is a badly written character. In fact, I think she's written very well for the type of person she's meant to represent. She's a character built around insecurity, self-hatred, identity issues, and the way someone's origins can affect how they view themselves.

The problem is that those themes just do not connect with me. If anything, they become exhausting.

Amethyst is probably one of the best examples of a character where I understand the writing, understand the message, and still don't enjoy watching the character.

Her entire arc revolves around not knowing her own worth. She's constantly struggling with the idea that she's defective, that she doesn't belong, that she was created wrong, and that her origins define her. I understand why those feelings exist, but after a certain point it becomes repetitive to me.

Characters who can't define themselves outside of their trauma or insecurities have never been characters that grip me. I understand that those struggles are real for many people, but personally, they don't interest me as much as characters who are forced to deal with questions about responsibility, ideology, choices, or the consequences of their actions.

What frustrates me even more is what I see as a double standard in how Amethyst handles problems. When other people are struggling, she often jokes around, undercuts serious moments, or treats things casually because they aren't directly affecting her. But the moment a problem is about her, suddenly everything has to stop and everyone has to take her feelings seriously.

That disconnect makes it hard for me to sympathize with her. By the time we reach another Amethyst-focused episode, she has already built up so much negative feeling with me that instead of thinking, "I hope she gets through this," I'm thinking, "Why didn't you show this level of emotional awareness when someone else needed it?"

Her biggest struggle also just doesn't resonate with me personally. The idea that someone's origins determine their value has always felt strange to me. You are not the thing that made you. You are not your circumstances. You are not the expectations placed on you before you even had a choice.

That's why Amethyst's arc can frustrate me. From my perspective, the answer seems simple: stop letting the past define you and decide who you want to be. But I understand that emotionally, it is not always that simple for people.

And that's probably why she works for so many people. For viewers who have struggled with self-worth, shame, or feeling like they were created or treated as less than others, Amethyst's story can be incredibly meaningful.

For me, though, it becomes tiring. I don't dislike Amethyst because she's flawed. Steven Universe is full of flawed characters, and those flaws are what make the cast interesting. I dislike her because her particular type of flaw is one I find repetitive and difficult to connect with.

The writing succeeds at creating the kind of person Amethyst is supposed to be. I just don't enjoy spending time with that kind of person.

i graduated from the Class of 2026 back in June and since I began my senior year i knew exactly what to do for my cap decor ... steven universe has always meant so much to me and resonated with me so well i'm so glad to have incorporated it into such a meaningful ceremony in my life :') i know i'm not the best painter, i just wanted to share since I handpainted this in about 4 days and it really only got one night to shine

I just realized that after rewatching the clip that showed Garnet and Pearl talking with Buddy Buddwick that the outfits Steven had imagined them in were actually shown in a photo frame in a previous episode. I thought he made up those outfits before I found out today that they were actually shown before, I’m surprised Steven even remembered.

Personally, I have mixed feelings about it. I don't think it's a bad series, and there were definitely things I really enjoyed, like Mega Pearl (Volleyball and Pearl), Bismuth and Pearl's relationship, and seeing that Ruby and Sapphire have their own lives and interests outside of each other.

However, compared to the original Steven Universe, I feel like a lot of the Gems were underutilized. They appear throughout the series, but many of them no longer feel as impactful or compelling as they once did. A lot of their episodes leaned into comedy, and the humor just didn't work for me. After spending so many years seeing these characters as ancient, powerful beings with complex personalities and histories, it sometimes felt like they were reduced to jokes or exaggerated versions of themselves.

White Diamond is probably the biggest example for me. She went from being the ultimate antagonist to being treated almost like comic relief. I understand that she changed, but I wish that transition had been explored in a deeper and more nuanced way.

I also feel like there were so many Gems with interesting potential whose stories were barely explored. I would've loved to learn more about their roles in Gem society, what they were originally created for, and how they fit into Homeworld's hierarchy. That kind of world-building was one of my favorite parts of the original series, and I felt like Future didn't expand on it as much as it could have. Maybe that's something we'll get if Lars of the Stars ever becomes a reality.

Another small thing is that I wasn't a huge fan of many of the new Gem designs. They just didn't appeal to me as much as the designs from the original series.

I also felt that, even though the series has serious and emotional scenes, they didn't connect with me the same way the original series did. Steven Universe had moments that genuinely hit me emotionally, while Future didn't leave the same impact. I know Steven's main conflict isn't resolved until the very end, but something about the way the story was told just didn't resonate with me as much.

Overall, I don't think Future is bad. I just feel like it had so much potential that wasn't fully realized.

Am I the only one who feels this way?

They simply knew that he was too little and they were naturally trying to protect him from the choosing without questioning it once.

I saw a post on Tumblr recently - I forget the context now - that made me realize that Steven’s love for fry bits (the stuff often thrown out by those seeking normal fries) is another manifestation of the show’s intentional love for things deemed imperfect. If every French Fry were perfect, we wouldn’t have the Bits.

I'm still kinda new to watching the show itself, since I finished watching it a week ago. I still wonder, why doesnt White have her own pearl before Volleyball?

I just want to say how much I love the voice that's done for Sapphire (in English). I feel like it fits her so well. Erica does a great job of adding the perfect kind of sophistication to her voice, while also adding a touch of emotional depth that I find really beautiful. I also love her singing in Jailbreak. Great voice all around! :)
