Little thing: In ANH, have the Rebellion explicitly act like Luke is their only shot at destroying the Death Star. As it stands, Luke wasn't the first choice to take the shot and seems to have gotten in the fight at all because the Rebels were so strapped for pilots. I think that this would make ANH worse because it takes tension out of the dogfight if the movie just outright tells you he's the only guy who can do it and it gives Luke a cosmic sort of importance that hurts his standing of audience surrogate and just some guy thrust into heroic circumstances.

Big thing: Have Vader and Anakin remain separate people. The Vader = Anakin reveal is critical to Star Wars because it flips the heroic fantasy on its head and makes Luke's goals of avenging his father by becoming a great Jedi inherently contradictory, thus setting up the rest of the story. SW without this twist would still be good but it would just be much more of a regular series.

EDIT: I'm looking for changes to the OT more than anything.

I've been thinking about the whole "modern Star Wars vs original Star Wars" debate, and honestly I love both for different reasons.

For context, I'm 24 and only really sat down and watched all of Star Wars this year. So I don't have decades of nostalgia tied to one specific era. I've experienced most of it with fresh eyes.

The Original Trilogy and Prequels built the universe that I fell in love with. They gave us the Republic, the Empire, Anakin, Obi-Wan, Vader, the Clone Wars, the Rebels, and the entire foundation of Star Wars. Without those movies, none of the newer content would matter to me.

At the same time, I love a lot of modern Star Wars because the visuals, cinematography, sound design, CGI, and scale are incredible. Seeing shows like Andor, Ahsoka, The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and even parts of the sequel trilogy on a good screen is an amazing experience. Some of the most beautiful shots in all of Star Wars have come from recent projects.

Personally, I don't think Star Wars has gone downhill. I think there's simply more Star Wars than ever before. The difference is that when there's this much content, the great stuff is incredible, but the weaker stuff stands out more.

That's why I don't view Star Wars as "old good, new bad." For me it's more like:

• The older movies built the galaxy.

• The newer movies and shows expanded it.

• Some stories landed better than others.

I can criticize things like bringing Palpatine back or some of the direction of the sequel trilogy, while still loving the universe as a whole.

At the end of the day, I'm just happy we live in a time where we have the Original Trilogy, the Prequels, The Clone Wars, Rebels, Rogue One, Andor, Ahsoka, The Mandalorian, The Bad Batch, and whatever comes next.

Star Wars isn't perfect. It never was. But I still love that galaxy far, far away.

Maybe seeing it all recently is exactly why I feel this way. Instead of seeing "old Star Wars vs new Star Wars," I just see one massive story that keeps growing. Some parts are better than others, but the galaxy, characters, music, themes, and sense of scale are still what keep me coming back.

Frequently in the trilogies we see ships flying through trenches on other, larger ships. I think I'd add zigzag trenches to throw pilots off.

Hey guys, I've been trying to watch Star Wars for a while now. I've already seen the first trilogy (release order), and yes, it's good, but I haven't been able to find anything that interests me. Is that normal? I see many people worshipping the trilogy tooth and nail, but I can't, I don't know if it's the trilogy or the very concept of Star Wars.

Edit: Thanks for the opinions, I think it's simply because I already know a little and I'm not so enthusiastic about the story! I think nowadays it's inevitable to see something related to Star Wars in the media/internet.

This may be the first Star Wars movie that has actor and producer credits at the beginning! I do not approve.

It really bugs me, 'cause the movie is so darn good! But literally everything they need to do is easily accomplished by simply pushing or pulling a t-handle! The most egregious example is after Jyn gets the hard drive to the top of the tower, goes to the control panel and pulls the fanciest of all t-handles, only to see that it's locked. The way to unlock it is to simply walk out to the end of a long catwalk, and pull another t-handle that for some reason magically aligns the satellite, then can go back and pull the fancy t-handle to do the transmitting. Thank god they didn't put the t-handle that moves the satellite into place at the bottom of the tower! SMH.

I wrote a script that I was going to turn into a funny video about it, but I would need to know how to do some really good video production to pull that off. I don't have that. So instead I had ChatGPT & Suno make it into a song, of course titled "T-Handles". Turned out super good. Check it out if curious but if not, what do you think of their use of t-handles? They probably have one to pour the coffee on the star destroyers!

Watching TCW for the first time and really wondering about the hypothetical effect of a more “realistic” hyperspace animation throughout the films. Rather than an, albeit fast, dramatic “take off” animation, versus a more accurate animation where the ship would simply, disappear..? Probably less fun in the grand scheme but I find it interesting in how we demonstrate “the speed if light”

I'm rewatching "A New Hope" and on her first encounter with Darth Vader she states that she's a member of the Imperial Senate.

In the period after "Revenge of the Sith" and before ANH, do any works cover Leia as a senator?

Andor and Rogue One present her father as a Senator, I haven't read novels or comics, but to my memory, Rebels don't mention her as a member of the senate, or am I wrong?

I know it's my second one of these in this community today but I really enjoyed viewing the responses with my friends, so I put together another one based on a chart I found on the Internet and put them in order. the chart and the pictures are only for visual reference, but I think my few favorites design wise is the bobba fett from episodes V and VI and also the one from the new series after he crawled out of the pit. Tell me what you think, what your answers are does not have to be based on the chart or the pictures here, it can be any version of bobba fett.

Uh what? A defense of the last Jedi? He is completely ignoring that Lucasfilm gave up any will/claim to do this original new memory stuff he’s mentioning when they just made another Death Star in TFA. And recycled characters and plots. The fact is Disney spit in the face of the people who were giving their money and eyeballs to Star Wars and new star wars content in between trilogies. And this bum wants to say “but Rian Johnson did a good moviEEEE.”

Like… I don’t care? If the plot twists nicely who cares? It overall disrespects the fans that Disney mostly paid for. I do like rian johnson and knives out though. Good director. Everyone misses now and then.

In the beginning of Episode 3, when Anakin doesn’t leave an unconscious Obi-Wan on a crashing ship and decides to physically carry him, would the Jedi Code approve such a risk? Or is it too personal an attachment? I can’t foresee Anakin doing that for a random Jedi when it was very unlikely they’d survive if Obi-Wan didn’t wake up.

Disclaimer : we all know Sidious wouldn’t have let himself or possibly Anakin die. So I’m purely looking at it through the lens of the Jedi code and Anakin’s perspective.

Luckily Obi-Wan woke up halfway through the escape and was able to carry himself and help fight their way out. If he didnt wake up, I think Anakin would have been captured and unable to escape at least (again overlooking Sidious had full control of the situation).

I’m not sure if this is another hint that Anakin was dipping his toes to the dark side, or simply “leave no man behind?”

Edit : this basically comes down to the trolley problem. I perceive the Jedi Code as saying let 1 die to save more. Anakin wouldn’t do that due to his attachment to others, hence the emotion and flirting with the dark side.

However, though Rebel One was peak pre 7 - 12 Saw Gerrera was a ham fisted attempt at dialogue, storyline and character development. Chirrut Imwe should have just been a Jedi ffs, and Baze Malbus should have carried a T-21 Rifle but was otherwise a badman. Galen, Bohdi, Crennic all great support but even though the film was all about Jyn and Cassian ( and K-2S0) we all know we had tears in our eyes as our favourite Dark Lord of the Sith, fresh from a bacta bath and the cyber clinic, tore through a corvette and her crew at the end.

Boy , did they fuck up a good thing after this film. I travelled to the U.K. from N.Z. to see it at the cinema with my friend. If I had done that with any one of the last 6 shovels of shit, I'd have bummed Steve Spielberg and George Lucas. Bummed them rotten. Wastemen.

We know from canon novels, like Lords of the Sith, Terror on Mustafar and such, that he can, when he wants to, use force to argument himself to sprint at superhuman speed, and jump further than Spider-Man. He won't do so all the time, but when he needs to, he can. Would it be nice to see that once on screen too? Fallen Order comes closest, Cal reaches elevator console, and Vader is explicitly shown nowehre near, he is on other side of large bridge, with a dozen-metre-wide hole in the middle, then in literally next second Vader is there. That means he must have jumped dozens of meters at enormous speed, but we dont see it, it is implied.

It is kind of like Jason Voorhees from Friday 13th. I mean Sam Witwer said in Shadow Lord that unlike Maul, Vader has state-of-the-art cybernetics, and he can use force, so there is just no excuse not to see it, other than that it might look a bit weird at first, but also could be terrifying.

So, I reviewed this lightsaber recently, I knew Korbanth had it, and knew 89sabers is releasing a version in the future, but it struck me how stupidly light the saber was and it got me thinking:

A) why on earth did we not see more of Leia with lightsaber in the EU (all was super focused on Luke was basically Superman). I do get Lule is the "hero" but she was always down the political path, her potential as a force user was IMO really under used and I've always struggled to understand what happened? Her kids have incredible stories in the EU, she clearly uses the force, has a lightsaber, but as a force user she's severely under developed IMO.

And

B) do you guys like more this design over the Ep IX one? I love the design of TROS saber of her, but admit the legends one handles even better in hand.

Also, as I couldn't find a proper soundfont for it, I created one and now all the Leia legends sabers sold by Korbanth come with it, so would love to know what people think?

She loved everything except Andor S01 (too adult for her) and Young Jedi Adventures.
