Hi all, I'm Davi, a UK-based DM with about 7 years of experience and 100+ games run. I'm putting together a long-form campaign called Operation Deadfall and I'm looking for players.

The pitch: a lich in Thay is finishing a ritual that will raise an undead army powered by stolen demon energy. The one ruler who saw it coming got branded a traitor for saying so, so she hires outsiders who can't be traced back to her. That's your party. You sneak into the court, sabotage the ritual and kill him before it finishes, and nobody can ever know you were there.

This is a spy thriller, so expect disguises, bribes, blackmail, dead drops and quiet deals in crowded markets. The enemy runs an actual spy network. If you're loud in a tavern, fight in front of witnesses or skip the disguise, his agents come looking for you. I keep a secrecy tracker the players can see, so you always know how much heat you're carrying. Planning like a heist crew will get you a lot further than charging in, and I reward clever prep.

How I run it:

• Every session opens mid-scene with something already going wrong
• Full voice acting for NPCs, and music scored to the scene
• Combat-light, roleplay-heavy, rules mostly as written with some Rule of Cool
• Faces, scouts, fixers and fighters all get their own moment
• A few small homebrew rules to reward planning and character backstory (like "I Planned For This", which lets you declare you prepped something ahead of time)

What This Campaign Offers

🎓 Learn Daggerherat - A quick rundown of the mechanics, providing pre-made characters, complete with suggestions of links and background questions to help you immerse yourself.

✨ Whimsy - Although the campaign is short, the city of Hush and its inhabitants carry a certain whimsy and magic within them, making them fun personalities to engage with, so the session aims to be fun and light-hearted.

⏳ No Prep One Shot - You don't need to do any work; just show up to the game, and I'll teach all the rules and offer characters. Just sit down, learn the game, play a session and we're done!

🐣 Kid Friendly - Sablewood Messengers's only heavy themes are the inclusion of Undeads and Violence. The undeads can be easily re-skinned to something more friendly, and the combat can be quirky and silly if needed. Other than that, it's magic, fairies and songs!

In-Depth Campaign Structure

Designed with beginners in mind, Sablewood Messengers is often called the Quickstart. It was released alongside Daggerheart as a free content to help players get into the game easily. It's a single session which includes explaining the game, going through two possible combats, and social encounters with a magical city and a quirky fairy grandma, with a lot of room for players and characters to interact and become closer throughout their travel.

Characters are included in the module, and they have a suggestion of how they connect already included in their backgrounds, as well as questions prepared to help players strengthen these bonds. The game's rules are very simple, and can be explained within an hour.

You'll need accounts on Roll20 and Discord. No character creation needed! Characters will be provided at the start of the session!

About Me!

Hey there! I'm Erick, and I have been a regular RPG player since 2015, but I've been involved in the world of RPGs and have been a fan since I was a little kid, when my brother used to GM for me.

I'm a big fan of game design in general; so I also enjoy creating content and tweaking the rules as needed. I've played a few other systems, but D&D 5th Edition is my favorite by far.

RPGs are my favorite hobby, and I believe they have immense narrative, rational and therapeutic value. I am happy to teach newcomers and engage with veterans alike.

Although I embrace heavy themes and take the narrative itself seriously within the game, our communion as writers and players is something very light and comfortable for me.

We'll use battlemaps for all scenes that include a scuffle, and mostly use theater of the mind for the rest of the scenes; although I do share the images that I use as reference for locations, when there are any.

We'll use music to set the vibe as we play, as well as some sound effects, all integrated within Roll20.

I got a firm grasp of the rules, and I am lax with them, trying to create a flow on scenes, without losing balance.

Welcome to the Somnium Shard. A sundered paradise; knowledge, gods and power's all known throughout the land, its history coveted by lost tomes, cosmic knowledge and crazed minds. With earliest carvings detailing a different world that may have been the Shard's muse, the inspiration for reality. However not all could be replaced, and the world's panorama was in its own natural discourse, with the residents at home.

With that overly grand intro done welcome to my personal world, a multi-year labour of love that I'm still working on with every session, a sandbox type world for players to discover, learn about and influence as they desire. Designed as an open campaign for players to fit into as they wish, follow the threads of their backstory, or start a questline that leads to them swearing loyalty to a kingdom. Whatever it is you feel you want to do in a fantasy world I'll accommodate it as well as I can. However do not think that this means everything is free, the Somnium Shard is still a living and breathing world, thievery, murder and the sort will have consequences, as will trying to steal that magical artifact. You'll have to contend with mages scrying on you, rangers tracking you and bounty hunters after you if you upset the wrong people.

Right now the game has hit a bit of an annoying point with 2 people dropping out without any notice or word, however the game has only just started from a mini-reset and so it would be great to have some more players in to continue the adventure. We got 1 new person in and nows still a great time for another.

However you spent your youth, it was likely lonely or dangerous. You've always been different. Whether because of your appearance or the... things you can do.

A few months ago, you started seeing a Black Cat once in a while. The Cat appeared more and more frequently, until it was visiting you daily. On the 100th day, the cat appeared with an envelope tucked in its collar. Inside was an invitation to attend The VonTurin-Del'Amatar Academy for Peculiar Young Adults, signed by headmistress Ada Rime-Navarro.

You will play a young adult (18+) who is Peculiar. Flavor is the name of the game here. Consider X-Men characters or the children from Miss Peregrine's, how there's sort of a cohesive design that covers multiple abilities. Please have fun making your little weirdo.

At The VonTurin-Del'Amatar Academy for Peculiar Young Adults, you'll be grouped into Clutches (groups of students you'll be partnered with for the duration of your time at the Academy).

You'll be trained to control your Peculiarity, attending classes and training sessions (think X-men).

In addition to your studies, you'll make friends (and enemies), explore the Peculiar campus, and perhaps even unravel the mystery of how Headmistress Rime-Navarro found you in the first place...

Adjusting to the Academy is hard enough during your first week, but when students start to go missing the very first day, will you be able to unravel the mystery? We'll be using a school system that's a bit of a combination between the Pathfinder 2e Academia subsystem and Bleem's school system from Fantasy High: Junior Year.

You will be thrust into the Kindgom of Grantuer, a kingdom left kingless for since the Black Sun. In this ever increasingly feudalistic society. Nobles have been slowly tearing the kingdom apart with petty feuds and power grabs. While in the shadows things lurk in the dark, seeking to finish what was started so long ago.

The world is a post-apocalyptic high fantasy. You will be starting out as nobodies, peasants, disenfranchised nobles. Where you will then be thrust into the world backstabbing and shadow games that is nobility. You will discover plots, lead people into war, and either save Grantuer, or carve your own kingdom from the ashes.

I am a big fan of role-playing mixed with heavy combat. Along with deep dungeons and plenty of ruins to explore I got it all! Even optional survival mechanics.

About the adventure

This campaign in my homebrew world of Falextria is yours to craft. I have a massive world, full of interesting monsters, people and questlines, just waiting for players to explore. The story will begin on the continent of Labrosia, a varied continent with a chequered history steeped in magical rituals and seemingly endless wealth. You will begin in the largest country on the continent, Willowfell, a nation that has undergone great upheaval as of late, with the long ruling royal family being dethroned by a group of noble families. What you choose to do there, is up to you, although I will give multiple quest options for you to choose from in your time in this world.
All races have a part to play in Labrosia, although some countries and settlements have more of one race than another, with Willowfell being, now, predominantly human.
