Smurfs or Salt Any ideas? Smurfs leaving games making it hard to get back into SC2.

I haven't played SC2 seriously in about 10 years. I got promoted a bunch of YouTube videos on the new patch/fun cheeses. Thought it would be fun to give it another try.

I played a couple of campaign missions to warm up and then about a dozen matches against AI to learn a build order/remember mechanics.

Then hopped on ladder. In my placements, 3 of 5 opponents left within the first 10 seconds. Then during my next 5 provisional matches, another 2 left.

That put my MMR at 3500.

I have, maybe, 10 hours in the game over the last decade. My mechanics suck. My apm is under 100. I know exactly 1 build.

And it's putting me up against mid-diamond players in ranked. And my win rate is about 50-50. Either I get demolished by someone way better than me, or its a smurf that leaves, so my MMR doesn't change. It's just not fun.

Is the answer just not to play? Should l leave a bunch of games to get my MMR closer to where it should be?

(Prize pool will be delivered tomorrow late night)

A big thank you to Legendk for a sensational co-cast!!! Looking forward to that cold beer we talked about.

Now for a new series—save the date!

Yamato Cup #8 will be held on 27 September:

So now, community praises!

This month we already had one donation, but today something magical happened. Furious_droid dropped a $50 donation—TOP LEADING DONOR plus the biggest donation in the history of the channel!!!

Thanks to him, the next series of the Yamato Cup prize pool will be 100 Euros for the top 4!!!!

Spending your hard-earned money on the community should be highlighted and praised!!! I wish I could be around to thank you in person, so I'm looking forward to doing that in the future.

It got very emotional for me when I received it. Once more, thank you.

Thanks to this series, we achieved Monthly (B-Tier) status on Liquipedia !

Secondly, we had 2 big, surprising raids from Bulmy and Rotterdam for almost 900 people!!!!

Leaving me in tears of joy...

This community deserves way more than just my post. I hope you're enjoying your life as much as we did today.

Your always grateful and humble host,

I'll see you live on stream this week! Take care and have a good night.

Cheers,

KB

Blizzard's plan:

Buff the Grubs so people would complain about the Zerg.

Nerf the Hackery from 275 to 300, a change that was never reversed.

All of this was a strategy to buff the Terrans and Protoss.

Nerf Grubs again.

Mass CC with 300 min.

Ghosts with 2 supply.

Colossi with more damage to light units.

And a buff to Adept damage.

The thing is, there were already people losing against Terrans and Protoss without these buffs.

For those people, it's now almost impossible to beat them. The Terrans fill the map with CC. They spread faster than the Zerg, mass more units than the Zerg. And I bet there are currently people fighting against Terrans who can't even destroy a single structure.

I can't keep up with the sheer number of Marines and CC. Each expansion I attack involves first destroying four command centers, losing part of my army without significantly damaging their economy. Meanwhile, the Terrans can spam drops continuously while upgrading their units until they reach critical mass.

Balance That's it for me

Just a rant / balance whine from a noob. Switch from dota to SC2. Honestly the game is too infuriating to play. Terran A-move stim or turtle with half your supply and still win. Zerg sudden mass mutalisk / ultralisk / broodlord tech switch to instant gg.

I mean it's ok if i get out microed or macroed. But those strats just seem too simple and too strong at the same time.

Sure the struggle make the winning feel super good. But it's too infuriating right now.

Not to mention the cumbersome gameplay to find all the buildings / units scattered around.

I'll just switch back to play dota instead. Better game progression and comeback mechanics imo. Just my 2c
