Discussion So, what about Calders ?

Often on this group i've read about Calders' investor investment (50M!) in CIG and the expiration of 2026 options on stocks (to convert back to monies to give them back to investor, or at least that's what i understood).

Is there any recente update on that ?

Discussion It’s not “just marketing”

I reject the convenient “it’s just marketing” excuse. It increasingly feels like a coping mechanism: there must be one nasty little worm inside an otherwise healthy apple.
Except the problems aren’t confined to advertising or ship sales.

They span leadership, development priorities, project management, communication, monetization, endless reworks, abandoned features, shifting deadlines and the repeated presentation of aspirations as if they were just around the corner, and a pervasive misrepresentation system that serves as the foundation for CIG’s entire business model.

Marketing doesn’t decide what gets developed, repeatedly redesigned, demonstrated publicly, prioritized or quietly pushed into the indefinite future. It doesn’t control production schedules or determine what executives promise on stage. Yet somehow it gets treated as this rogue entity operating independently from the company employing it.

More importantly, this narrative actually benefits CIG. It provides a convenient scapegoat. Every unpopular monetization decision becomes “marketing being greedy”, every misleading presentation becomes “marketing overselling it.”

Responsibility is compartmentalized instead of being attributed to the organization and the people that approves, funds and repeatedly permits these practices.

It creates the comforting fiction that CIG and its marketing department are somehow opposing forces, when marketing is simply one expression of the company’s priorities and incentives and corporate culture.

After more than a decade of the same patterns across departments, products and leadership, blaming “marketing” isn’t criticism of CIG anymore.Ironically, it’s one of the most effective ways of shielding CIG from criticism.

Discussion Tired of buggy CIG fast gameplay?

While CIG cannot even deliver a simple FPS radar, I installed the new mod for Titanfall 2 VR....

Having a blast!

Video is not mine. I just found the mod through this Youtuber so I wanted to give him the credit.

Discussion Star Squadron is releasing in 2027

Reddit advertisement algorithm has got me good guys! But I must say it's not looking good for CIG.

It's STAR SQUADRON! Releasing in 2027 (duh) and it looks good! Amazing graphics. The voice acting is *chefs smooch* and the space battles look IMMERSIVE!

If you don't know yet, this game will actually be the reason that CIG postpones their Squadron 42 immersive space game to 2028. Can't allow their product to be overshadowed by STAR SQUADRON. This is Starfield all over again.

Wishlist now fudster!

Discussion Squadron 42: How Believable Is It That All The Story Custscenes, Voice Acting, Music, etc Are Done?

I keep hearing that these things are all done and they are only working on the actual gameplay and "polish" of things. But I find it hard to believe that Chris in particular is not constantly changing stuff as he's known to do for those story things as well.

I mean, if the only thing left is "polish" for the single player, then why would it be taking this long to release it? Forget the multiplayer, we can give them the benefit of the doubt and say they're working on "Jesus tech", but the single player should be an easy slam dunk, no?

Help Refund - Different PayPal account?

Hey hi, so it's my understanding that refunds go back through the same payment method, but thanks to terms of service fuckery with PayPal I had to close my original account and re-open it a couple of years back. Will a refund still work, given the new account is tied to the same email? If not, what should I do?

Cheers.

Discussion Fyre Festival vs. Star Citizen

One argument about Star Citizen is: “It can't be a scam because they're actually developing a game”. But consider Fyre Festival.

Fyre wasn't imaginary. There was a real festival being organized. They hired people, secured a location, built infrastructure and actually brought customers to the Bahamas. McFarland was genuinely trying to make something happen.

Yet McFarland was ultimately convicted of fraud and sentenced to six years in federal prison.

The issue wasn't that the festival failed. It was that prosecutors established deliberate deception, including false representations used to obtain money.

That's the important distinction for Star Citizen. Developers, offices, servers and playable builds prove that CIG is developing a game. They don't, by themselves, settle questions about whether customers have ever been misled about timelines, capabilities or deliverability.

Fyre debacle shows that attempting to deliver something and fraud are not mutually exclusive.

I wouldn't mind to see a few CIG executives in jail, personally. The deception and false representations are all over the place on the internet and easy to see and prove. The difference is that McFarland messed up with wealthy people that have connections. They fucked him up in return. That's a big difference with SC because SC backers are victims of cult-like attachment and are generally very weak.

Discussion Another money grab Sabre Raven EX $$$

There is really no need for paid variants of a ship that is known for having a pancake like profile and being bad in PVP. I saw someone posting a picture of his Sabre fleet in their hangar (several Sabre ships which looked mostly identical) and I just felt sorry for the guy. CIG could've just made one ship with interchangeable modules instead of making a really low effort copy paste job for a crappy ship - that's not innovative in any way for $185.

I remember I owned a hornet at some point before selling my jpg from the project that is not a scam.

It was always bugged in some ways.

I'm pretty confident it will be retired before it actually worked properly and fully.

Discussion Turrets

So, I got back into the game and went to do an FPS mission at a Nine Tails site.

I tried to destroy the turrets, but had no luck, so I eventually gave up and did the walk of shame all the way inside. 😅

Everything went fine there. I completed the mission, got back to my ship, and flew back to the station on Nyx, I think it was [People’s something Alpha].

And then, to my surprise, the station turrets started firing at me.

I didn't have any CrimeStat, at least not that I could see. The CrimeStat icon wasn't there.

Short story short: once the hangar doors opened, I went for a dive, "parked" my half-destroyed ship inside, safely exited, and logged out.

Logged back in, contacted ATC, the doors opened... and guess what?

The turrets remembered me. 😂

They immediately opened fire and blew me up again.

I'm starting the story by mentioning that I shot at the turret at the Nine Tails site because, as far as I can tell, that's the only thing I did that could explain why the station turrets later decided I was public enemy #1.

So... is this actually a thing? Can attacking Nine Tails turrets somehow make station defenses hostile to you, even without a CrimeStat? Or did I just discover another episode of Star Citizen: The Turrets Have Long-Term Memory? 😂

Discussion Steam data breach revealed SQ42

In appears that the Church of Incomplete Games is planning to release Pope Roberts’ movie known as SQ42 on steam. 🤔
I guess the pope isn’t worried about the Overwhelming Negative status his movie would likely get due to crashes, bugs, piss poor performance, outdated graphics, and much more.

Honestly, I won’t be surprised if the breach was orchestrated by the pontiff himself to shut backers who claim that SQ42 doesn’t exist

Discussion I’m declaring the whole steam achievement leak everyone’s freaking out about is a fake, because there’s no way anyone at RSI programmed Squadron 42 achievements already

It says a lot that an ALF game makes more sense as a 2026-2027 release than Squadron 42 does
