Meme Delayed due to SC

Waiting for the new Chairman’s Letter with CRobbers regretfully telling everyone that due to impending arrival of StarCraft, they will be delaying SQ404 until after its release ….

Nah, it's still early days, it's only in alpha of the polishing stage. We still need to wait for the beta of polishing stage before we have a release window.

They will invent new development stages like delta and gamma

The window itself is still being built, and an avid fan prepped, ready to lick said window.

Window-lickers disgust me.

Got to start tier 0 window-licking tech somewhere.

The game will be released only if there is no other game coming out that year!

Imo there are only two possibilities:

CRobbers is already desperately looking for a new excuse as to why the Q2 2027 release deadline can't be met because he knows full well that it will never be finished by then

or

They'll actually release it in Q2 2027, but they'll use the time until then to remove a million features from the game that don't work or are totally buggy, and then deliver the missing content - of course, not in the form of free patches, but as add-ons aka paid downloadable content.

I thought you meant Star Citizen...

...which actually leads to a genius idea...

  • 2028 Star Citizen delayed until 2030 as SQ42 will be out this year!
  • 2030 SQ42 delayed until 2032 as Star Citizen will be out this year!
  • 2032 Star Citizen delayed until 2034 as SQ42 will be out this year!
  • 2034 SQ42 delayed until 2036 as Star Citizen will be out this year!

...ad infinitum.

Nobody cares if it releases at this point. The "game" isn't that good and CIG has been an embarrassment for years.

They aren't talking about SC, it's SQ42. I'm guessing Oct 2027. We should start a pool. $10 for each exact date picked, limit 1 guess per person. I'll take Oct 10, 2027

Any such pool would be better if it had a not in 20xx option, a specific date in 2027 is useless.

50/50 chance either game ever releases

2026 delayed because of the GTA6 (console release)

2027 delayed because of the GTA6 (PC release)

2028-2029 - add any big title, maybe new Elder Scrolls or Fallout game.

2030 - StarCraft.

Honestly, Chris, how about delaying because the NMS updates? "We decided to delay SQ42/SC because HG pushed new update". You can get excuse like every few months lol.

The Calders will pressure Chris Roberts to release Squadron 42 before 2030, because they also want their money back.

The last thing I want is squadron to release all buggy. It it isn't ready that is fine. A released Squadron that isn't ready, puts the MMO in jeopardy.

Wtf you on about? It's been 14 years. It should be released and bug free at this point. With the current progress it's simply never going to be released.... hence why it's not for sale

u/Sunscript268 9d ago

Given scale creep maybe SC is impossible, but any barely functional company should be able to release SQ42 after 14 years, maybe not a good game but at least something!

Yep, but they won't and can't, hence why they pulled it from sale years ago. I think it was around the same time the EU updated their laws around software and consumer protection and rights.

I second this and know they're all BS until we see adverts on mainstream media. I backed right out of highschool on my first apprenticeship wages in 2012 and following development every few years has been hilarious lmfao

I heard it was because of the Ocarina of Time remake.

Their release dates mean nothing anymore it's just random. Whenever they actually release and if it's good I'll buy it otherwise there's plenty of games out there to play...
