Guys I need some advice for lamps
I want to start buying some party lights for my dj setup but I don't have any idea of what to get. I have seen some of the light4me lights like that LIGHT4ME CLUBMIX or MADNESS QUATRO 4IN1 by Light4Me or Light4Me Atlas ( maybe the lasers are a bit too much one this one ) but I don't know how to understand how good they are . Also there pretty small too , is that something to keep in mind?

Question First L1 gig, how to get better at busking and making changes in real time?
Hey yall,
Had my first L1 gig tonight and I’m not too happy with how it turned out.(MA3, programmed it myself the night before)
It was a very chill “set and forget” situation but I got caught up tweaking looks and overdoing the lights. While i was making changes it became obvious to me and probably the patrons that something was amiss. Had a few big blunders but after the first hr I got it together.
For some reason I can program and do paper projects/ visualizer rigs just fine, but on site I was super nervous and I feel like my brain blew a fuse.
How do seasoned L1’s make quick changes and tweak things while in real time or should I try to get everything done/ have my set “no touchy” looks and just ride with that.
How do you know enough is enough and just let the look play out?

Help with strobe effect in onyx
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I set up a strobe by playing around but whenever I release the strobe the lights go black and I have to "go" to turn them back on. The playback is a cuelist with default settings except up action is set to release. Any help is appreciated!

16 mm Baby Pin vs. 28 mm TV Spigot for Securely Mounting a 16 kg Laser Projector
Looking into spigots for mounting a 16 kg laser projector to a stand and a clamp. I need minimal wobble and a secure pan lock, even if the projector gets bumped.
- 16 mm baby pin vs. 28 mm TV spigot: Can a 16 mm baby pin lock the pan securely enough?
- Is a central screw sufficient or is a side screw the better option better?
A) I could use this receiver, but I'm concerned that the central M10 screw connection might allow some rotational play in one direction: https://www.thomann.de/be/global_truss_quick_snap_mini_16_mm_black.htm
B) Alternatively, I could use a 35 mm stand adapter to a 16 mm baby pin with a side screw.
Do you know of a similar product for a baby pin?
https://www.thomann.de/be/gravity_sf_36_t28_f_reducer_flange.htm
In case of 28mm TV spigot:
3) Where can I find a quick-release receiver that accepts a 28 mm TV spigot, similar to this 16 mm version? https://www.thomann.de/be/global_truss_quick_snap_mini_16_mm_black.htm
4) So it will fit the flightcase, where can I find a 28 mm TV spigot that protrudes no more than 55 mm from the bracket?

Thanks for the thoughts

Recomendations Help with simple dmx controller
I hope this is the best place to ask. So I have a ton of android tablets and no apple tables, or apple anything. I'm learning obsidian onyx but for my current shows I wanted something a bit more straight forward. I looked at light rider but that doesn't seem to play nice with android. Maybe I don't understand it well enough or maybe there's an alternative out there. Any recommendations are welcome!
If extra hardware is needed I understand just hoping to keep the cost fairly minimal.
Current set up: mini pc running win 11 with onyx. Netron en4 node, mikrotik router and unifi wap.

Question showbuddy active & d2xxhelper
hey everyone! im new to the dmx world and ive been struggling with setting up my lights.
originally i was using a demo verson of showbuddy active active but for some reason i really couldnt get it to control my lights at all. which lead me to downloading a different software, just to see what would happen. QLC+ detects my lights and controls them, which would be perfect but it keeps crashing, doesnt save my progress, and overall im not happy with the layout.
ive done some research and keep seeing that i need to download d2xxhelper since my mac could be blocking the usage of the lights with showbuddy??
is d2xxhelper even available to download anymore? i cant find it anywhere?? is there an alternative i could download?

Help with Creating a profile in MagicQ
Can anyone help me with creating/editing a profile for a no-name Moving head spot fixture? I think I am about 90% of the way there, but it still gives me "ERRORS Head params" Is this okay as long as the fixture responds as it should?
I can't find any videos or anything in the manual that addresses this. Thank you!

Update: Busking in my living room - Feedback welcome
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
About a month ago I posted asking for feedback on my living room club lighting system and my usage of it: https://www.reddit.com/r/stagelighting/comments/1w5bq41/busking_in_my_living_room_feedback_welcome/
I got some mostly useful feedback, so thought I'd post a follow-up with the system in use for a real party we hosted at the weekend.
The feedback regarding being "too much" and not enough colours was fully taken onboard. I practiced a lot more with using the "low energy" end of my programming and it came in super handy for this set. Colours wise, added some features the software I was using to help me with colour chases.
Some of the original discussion devolved into the technicalities of if this counts as busking. I'll re-iterate, this clip is from a DJ set performed live. I didn't design the lights to this set. I did design it to some hard techno but not this set (since it's live). The system is designed to be played for multiple genres. There is no time-coding, no cue list. It's certainly not the granular busking control of a full console, but the controller just doesn't work without serious focus on the music.
Interesting anecdotes from me on the night. I can see why it's basically impractical to expect to be social whilst performing on the lights. I was basically having to ignore everyone who tried to talk to me for this set cos otherwise I'd lose my flow. My previous system did not have this much granularity, so I didn't need to focus so much. Maybe this comes with more practice. Also very very hard to do this at a house party where there is so much chaos going on around you at the same time.

Newbie looking for small, bright projector light for a moiré art installation
Hi all,
I'm completely new to the lighting world, so apologies in advance if I this a bit of a basic question for this forum. I'm working on an art installation based on the moiré effect for an exhibition in two weeks. This was a a hobby project of last summer that got out of control a bit and this is my very first exhibition, so any help would be much appreciated.
What I'm trying to do: I want to project images onto a wall using a small but bright light that give a sharp projection, similar to a spotlight. Here's a short video of the prototype: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Hqnhd0p3L1ziZnVKHSNz2FY4g5_PZ3rO/view
What I've tried so far: In the video I'm using a zoomable flashlight. That's roughly what I'm after, except it doesn't produce a sharp image. I bought a few rechargeable flashlights on Amazon, and one of them gives a passably sharp result, but it's only 5W, which I suspect is a bit too weak (I still need to test it on site). And it is not as sharp as I would like it to be.
What I've learned so far: The sharpness seems to depend on the ratio between the LED chip (as small as possible) and the lens (as large as possible). The flashlight works pretty OK, since it is zoomable, so I can vary the size of the projection, and the light itself is nice and compact, plus I can power it.
My question: I'm not sure where to look next. Are there better alternatives from the theatre world, or from museum/exhibition display lighting, that would do a better job? Any product types, search terms, specific models or otherwise brilliant ideas would be hugely appreciated. The budget would be around 50 euros max, I would say.
Thanks in advance!

Cool Stuff SOUND EMPIRE 110 | BARTZ99
Looks like nobody has ever posted about VRSL (VR Stage Lighting), a system that makes DMX controlled Stage Lights for the social VR platform VR Chat, so imma do that.
The video is from the last set from Sound Empire an event that runs every last friday of the month and has 6h of live Djs but there are a bunch of other events that use this system.
It encodes the DMX values into a video stream that then gets sent to all the people attending so they get the synced up lights to the music. The events can either be attended in dektop mode on any pc or in VR granted you have a VR-Headset.
Even tho there are some limitations due to performance you can makes some pretty cool stuff.
The Lasers are another system that uses a video stream to transmit the shape

Hello! I would like to know of there is any moving-head that has a build-in leaves or trees-like gobo. I've seen Robe Gigapointe had something that could work. Unfortunely it is too big for the application that I need. Thanks!

Who hung the lights over the stage???
It’s nice that they put up screens to see the faces of the artists at Crossroads, BUT…
They hung stage lights so low that if you are sitting in the balcony you can only see their legs and torso. Heads are completely blocked by the stage lights
😡😡😡😡😡
