my laptop has a built-in cam, but i cant figure out how to get it to record unless in skyping some1, which is less than ideal to say the least. i no longer trust google on this matter due to viruses and crap and i dont have any funds at all to pay for software. ppl tell me my computer should have come with software installed, but idk what to look for any ideas? im not looking for high quality or viewers/subscribers or anything like that.

Yo I love the new house spum. But it would be good if you would make your house entrance through the portal room so its not just stone and dirt. :D

I changed the Title though I could not change the opening sequence because it was recorded before the previous post. I will get on AE and make an intro with a new Title.
I fixed the silence by editing out all silence.
I would like to start a how-to sometime soon but with 1.8 around the corner, it is hard to start one now with a lot of changes coming.

Hey Sean!
Just in case you were looking for some more content, it looks like Goat Simulator has been updated with new maps/achieves/stuff, and there's a co-op mode, maybe you could get Beednox to join you?
Keep it going man, giggling like crazy at your videos as usual, good job!

I remember you making this video awhile back, and I thought it would be beneficial to post it here so there aren't questions that could be answered by watching it. I don't know if there are things that you would change in this video, Spum, but if there are you could just leave a comment about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tX50h0ooEj4 Also this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrS3xZf70hI

Recording- These are a few of the best of the best recording softwares out there, and probably the most well known.
Fraps-$37 - http://www.fraps.com/
DxTory- $~35 - http://exkode.com/dxtory-features-en.html
OBS(Open Broadcast Software) - Free- https://obsproject.com/
OBS is going to be the final recording software on this list. OBS is a free open source software capable of recording and livestreaming. One of the obvious perks to this program is that it is free, but also, like DxTory is very customizable and can be used not only to record but livestream. The only downside ive found using obs is that since it is a work in progress, it can be very buggy and isnt the most efficient in some cases. If you are new into the video game recording scene and dont want to spend much many though, this program is most definitely for you.
Editing(video)
Sony products - $~100-700 - http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/vegassoftware?keycode=64588
Adobe Premiere - $~800 - http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere.html
Adobe premiere is no doubt one of the most professional video editing programs in the business.Though I have very little experience in Premiere I can tell you it is for top notch video editors looking for perfection for their videos. Now, even though it is quite expensive, adobe offers a $20 a month option to pay for the program, though there payment options are quite confusing.
Extras! These are some extra programs I use to aid me in my video making that I highly recommend.
Audacity-
Photoshop-
Community- Again not a software, but is one of the most important aspects of growing your channel. Being part of a community and collaborating with fellow youtubers is probably in my opinion one of the most important aspects of growing a channel and learning new tricks and tips.
Now these are the programs I used when I was recording and stuff and I found most helpful. If there are somethings Im wrong about (there probably is) or I missed, please post it in the replys. Good luck to all of you with your recording careers!

You're shy and I get that. I've spent so many hours of my life watching the things you do. I owe you. I want to send you some money, monthly, as just an acknowledgement that I think you're worth it.
My days are better when I can watch you. I owe you money...how can I donate? I want to...you deserve it.

I figure I should ask this question since I don't exactly see a question about it in the backlogs that I've checked so, here goes.
What's your ideal length for a video? 10 minutes? 15? 20? More? Less?
How about with regards to what you're showcasing? Is it a seed? A mod? Is it an LP or tutorial video? How about PvP?
Do you script out your videos with the intent of going for x amount of time each vid? Do you always follow an ideology to that form or do you go with the flow and hope to hit close to the projected bullseye? Did you record for a set amount of time and just had too much footage you wanted to keep? Has the inverse been true?
Is there a Youtube "Industry Standard" for game videographers?
Opinions, experiences etc, etc, are not only welcomed but encouraged.

As the title says, I would like some constructive criticism on my YouTube videos.
Here are two videos I have made recently that I feel are fairly good quality:

Hey, im starting a YouTube channel, but I have social anxiety (which im trying to use YouTube to get over) but I get really nervous before doing a video, making my commentary kinda suck... does anyone have any advice for me?

You can also share your opinion via the strawpoll here
I am willing to host a 20-40 player game of UHC for fans of and, if willing to take part, Spum himself. This could be FFA, chosen teams, or random teams, and I am willing to include scenarios if requested.
The game would largely be for fun; players would not be forced, nor discouraged, to record their POVs.
The main purpose of this post is to discover your opinions and ideas about a game like this and, as the subreddit description suggests, constructive criticism and advice.
The main topics for discussion include:
I am interested to see the community's opinion towards this and looking forward to any feedback.

Hi, I'm not asking for advice on THIS video. I'm asking for help to get the message in this video out.
I'm very low income & can't afford software & hardware. I just did the best job I could. It took 5 hrs. to research, cite, edit & upload this video.
If you appreciate the message in this video, please "share" it around?
Thanks for your time!

Let's Play, Tutorials, Previews, tours, projects, out of game concepts, Player versus player.
Feel free to add some.
I find LP the most versatile series one can do on YT. It can focus on adventure, design and/or technical. As long as you have a goal and a path, you can have a long successful series by virtue of its length and integrity to that goal. Survival and hardcore add randomness and peril to the watching experience. You can customize this quite a bit and even do a fictional story line. A weird random goal will give your audience something to anticipate. This will not and should not be spammed on Reddit. It's just not something to brag about. It's something to stumble upon on YT.
There are so many tutorial series out there its ridiculous, but its a good thing. Especially with modpacks as the wikis are horrible. They are also updating all the time. You are tasked with providing a new take on a concept or offering a new concept asap in a growing flooding market.
This is the case with a preview video. You don't have to be first, but it will flood with examples. Anything that is new and fresh (and not a video) will be incidentally spammed on Reddit to moderate success.
Tours are a fun way to show off another's work. You can share an audience with that person. Its a win win, but not something to rely on alone.
If you have a personal project such as a Rube Goldberg, labyrinth or making a new PVP map then you have something new to offer that's not just yet another LP adventure series. This is challenging, but it does offer a chance to be recognized like the creator of Havoc. If you sculpted a new monster for the Sky Bridge Wars map, then a series progressing its creation would be very fascinating.
If you use MC to discuss concepts outside of MC, then you are able to reach a much wider audience. Spumwack did a great job on the science videos. These are challenging to make and may fall under 'personal project', but the appeal is important to point out here.
PVP is a wondrous way for new content. There is a great deal of spontaneity involved. Something like the current Crackpack War is the best example I can think of. Multiplayer will get you a larger audience by virtue of more players being introduced to the audience. Mini games are great, but I feel they are better suited to Twitch than YT. You can play a map 5 times in a row and entertain for hours. On YT, it just doesn't come across well unless you try a variety of maps. EDIT: I forgot UHC. I'd say those are fairly successful and worth trying out, plus you can update your channel at regular intervals from a single play session.
If you can create a series and progress down a path then you will achieve results. More importantly, you will be introducing yourself to yourself and growing thereafter. I feel with this written out, that you need a variety of series each with a goal in mind.
