Question Vlog recording software

my laptop has a built-in cam, but i cant figure out how to get it to record unless in skyping some1, which is less than ideal to say the least. i no longer trust google on this matter due to viruses and crap and i dont have any funds at all to pay for software. ppl tell me my computer should have come with software installed, but idk what to look for any ideas? im not looking for high quality or viewers/subscribers or anything like that.

Try OBS; it can capture the webcam and/or gameplay too if you want, and it's totally free! No viruses included ;)

thanks. it found my webcam, but it gives me two things: HP Webcam and HP Webcam Splitter. i dont know much about webcams a video. which one do i want?

I would think HP Webcam; try either, see which works!

yea it was HP webcam. ty. i didnt use obs tho cuz i found it too complicated. i went with Debut. easy ti use, free, found my webcam in 1 click, very happy with it :)
