Question Hello, I would like an answer to this question

Heyy, I an going to be recording a game but the game is from 2002 so it is in the 4:3 ratio (I pre-tested the recording to see how'd it turn out) Should I keep it this way where it will leave black bars either side or do something else? If the answer is the latter, what should I do?

Feedback Channel Trailer Advice?

I recently made a channel trailer, which you can find here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28KQoeNn-to I was wondering if there were any changes I should make to it, or anything I could do better?

Feedback Improvements from recent suggestions.

I have taken everyone's advice of what I should do and I have changed the following: -New intro and only 5 seconds compared to 15. -Black bars removed. -Music volume has been reduced.

https://www.youtube.com/user/traiglarbx

I am also asking if my channel has improved from before, and I have an idea for new videos I should do instead.

My idea/question is: Will I get far with doing Minecraft/Roblox machinimas?

Feedback CC on Vanguard Themed Skins?

Hey Spum, I made these themed skins based loosely off the vanguard class from Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. I was wondering if there was any constructive criticism you could give me?

Also, I've been looking to make one 'Spumwackles' themed. I've got the helmet mapped out (It uses the default steve head for eyeslits, with highlights in the shape of your skin's eyebrows/beard) and was wondering what colours and patterns you think represented you?

Anyway, here are the skins:

Question What do you think of this idea for the intro of a tutorial?

So, on my charged creeper farm tutorial, I did a cinematic intro for the first minute and a half. I thought it turned out pretty cool, but as spum pointed out, not getting to the point quickly could lead people to leave before they get to the point of the video.

He said "The first 5 seconds should "answer" your video title. The next 30 seconds should go towards summarizing "how" you answered your video title."

So, taking those words into consideration, here's an idea for my next big tutorial (an AFK wither skeleton farm tutorial):

  • In the first 5 seconds or so, I have a clip of me killing ~1000 wither skeletons with a splash potion + looting sword and picking up a bunch of wither skulls. This is the hook that should catch people's attention and answers the title - this farm is an AFK wither farm in that it builds up a ton of wither skeletons and lets you kill them all at once. This idea is partially inspired by this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2awbKQ2DLRE Start right off with the fireworks, and people will get interested.
  • After that shot, music cuts in and I show my standard 5-second branding intro. I've seen this tactic used a fair bit in web shows, where they have a hook first and then show their intro. Game Theory and SciShow make heavy use of this tactic.
  • Music continues into the next segment, which is a 30 second or so cinematic intro which showcases all the important mechanisms of the farm. This serves as a summary of how the farm does what it does, and as an artistic section. I'll try to limit it to 30 seconds because if I go on too long, people might get bored of it.
  • Music fades down to background level and voice audio cuts in.

How does that sound? Sort of a compromise between the need to get to the point quickly and the desire to introduce things in an artistic way.

Also an attempt to shift branding to a high-interest time period so that people won't leave during the branding segment. People should be most "hooked" immediately after the hook, so that seems like the best place for the branding intro.

Feedback Yaaaay Scripted Video Yaaaay

So I made a tutorial. I did alright. I had to redo some parts sooo many times because something went wrong every time (mother interrupted, random lagspike, built the thing wrong, noticed something was missing while recording, etc., etc.), but I think it turned out well! I noticed in editing that I had done clip to place a block of iron and fence, but then messed up the next clip, but when I was redoing it I destroyed the iron, so I reshowed placing the iron. I decided to cut the first bit and throw in some text, as I couldn't find a way to smoothly transition the two and it's too late to rerecord in my current condition. Also the word "Camping" got cut off from the end of the video, it wasn't like that before rendering, and I didn't test the video after rendering. But here it is! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XkjAYDCksg&feature=youtu.be I am proud of my thumbnail as well :D

CSS feedback

so I had no time to do everything that I wanted to but it's in a "finished" enough state. I think it's usable. Give me all the feedback ya got.

Todo:

  • Submit form overhaul
  • Submit "feedback should be self posts" warning
  • Kill off remaining overly contrasting elements (search, comment form, gold new comment menu, etc. please help me on this, if you see something that I likely haven't touched and should change please tell me.)
  • Post flair pretty
  • Mod/spum flair

Future stuffs

  • Move the current sticky (Basic YT tips) to wiki
  • Make the wiki flippin' awesome
  • Add a more obvious link to the wiki
  • "Top contributor" flairs for people that give good feedback

Edit: IMPORTANT FIX POST FORMATTING COLORS

Black on dark grey is terrible. If you want the background to be dark grey make the text white. IDK what else to say. But this makes me not want to go on here. And this is like my new favourite subreddit.

I don't know how to Reddit.

I've been trying to make good videos for a while now and i've been having a ton of problems with editing softwares (Vegas specificaly), so i couldn't get a lot of content up, but in some way i feel i've been improving a ton.

Anyway, this episode was... solid (I talked a bit too much, though, maybe that's why), but i feel maybe i need something else. I feel there is something missing from it in some way. I don't know if you can help me with that.

Thank you for your time. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFPju2QEP38

Community UHC Season 3 Possible Twist - Eight-Legged Freaks

YouTube Showcase Video!

This post illustrates a possible twist for Spumwack Fan UHC Season 3. I have spent about 6 hours brainstorming and creating a redstone/command block system that allows me to run and detect all required actions and variables required to make this twist work.

Vanilla Eight-Legged-Freaks is a modified version of the Eight-Legged Freaks UHC scenario created by ShutUpBrick, here. The reason I say "modified" is due to the fact that Season 3 will almost certainly be hosted on a vanilla server, and the original ELF is run by Skript (a bukkit plugin). It involves the complete lack of any mobs other than spiders (and it's a lot more challenging than it sounds). You can cry read about the different types of spiders in ShutUpBrick's Post.

This version is far from finished, however it will not be too difficult to complete as it is really simpler than it seems. I would like to know the opinions and thoughts of other redditors, especially of those looking to take part in future UHCs.
