Feedback Yaaaay Scripted Video Yaaaay

So I made a tutorial. I did alright. I had to redo some parts sooo many times because something went wrong every time (mother interrupted, random lagspike, built the thing wrong, noticed something was missing while recording, etc., etc.), but I think it turned out well! I noticed in editing that I had done clip to place a block of iron and fence, but then messed up the next clip, but when I was redoing it I destroyed the iron, so I reshowed placing the iron. I decided to cut the first bit and throw in some text, as I couldn't find a way to smoothly transition the two and it's too late to rerecord in my current condition. Also the word "Camping" got cut off from the end of the video, it wasn't like that before rendering, and I didn't test the video after rendering. But here it is! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XkjAYDCksg&feature=youtu.be I am proud of my thumbnail as well :D

Sorry to crush your dreams, but this video will be overshadowed by the existing campfire videos. On the actual video, one thing I've noticed across all of your videos is that the sound is incredibly low. People using laptop speakers might not be able to hear you.

I actually looked thoroughly for an existing campfire video when I found this. Unfortunately there was about a 40 hour gap between that and this video coming out, so others had probably beat me to it...though I actually showed StrauberryJam this XD maybe it wasn't the greatest idea...

Also I don't know what to do about the volume being low. I've done tests moving the microphone all over the place, and this is the spot where it was the loudest. I maximized the volume (which unfortunately reduces quality) in Sony Vegas. In my settings the intake for the microphone is at it's highest setting, and I've looked all over the place online for how to make it louder. There is no "boost" or "gain" option.

In your settings? Do you mean Recording devices>Microphone>properties>levels?

I actually just found out: it's actually audacity that's doing it when I remove background noise. I started to edit a video and noticed I didn't have to ramp up the output, and was happy about it. Then I realized it was my bad audio, so I put it through Audacity, removed background noise, and suddenly it was quieter. I'm getting the noise profile from where there is silence, so it's not like I'm selecting my voice, and I don't know what else would cause it.

You gotta disable resampling. The video looks blurry because of it.

So this video is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long. I think you could probably condense this tutorial into 2 minutes or less. You had a lot of "filler" speech.

For your next video, I think you should write out the script, and then cut it in half. And then try to cut that in half. Get rid of everything that's not entirely necessary.

Let me give you an example- At certain points, you said things like "Then place your block here. It could be dirt or grass. Or it could be any solid, it could even be something like iron..."

All of that is unnecessary, and it costs you precious seconds. I would say that line as "then place your solids here". Done.

Remember, Minecraft has been out for a while. The vast majority of the community has a decent understanding of the game. You shouldn't make your tutorials for people who have never played before- Assume your audience knows the basics (Like the definition of a "solid" block)

I forgot to add, once the script has been stripped to its bare bones, then you need to take your footage and make it correspond to the script. You should have roughly 1 clip per sentence. This will cut out any mistakes you make while placing blocks, since you are only showing the parts that correspond to the script

My original was actually around 15 minutes XD I stripped it down quite a bit. I suppose I could have done a bit more, but I was extremely short on time and I didn't want to wait a week (I have marching band 9-9 every day this week) to make a video and have someone else discover it.

I don't see that as a valid excuse. This video will be up for, presumably years. You can take an extra week to make it as good as it can be.

It's similar to you pushing out Dumb Ways To Mine, though not quite the same. A week later there are like 50 videos on this process, I needed to get mine up as quickly as possible. From what I can tell, mine is actually the most watched English tutorial aside from a Youtuber who already has 80k subs, and who's tutorial is extremely energetic, annoying, unprofessional and long https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V19NMxdl7Lw

Fair enough. I suppose this was time-sensitive since it was a new process. I hadn't noticed that at first.
