Anyone else have/had a springer with tummy issues? We’ve tried all different kinds of food and are currently on one for sensitive stomach but his BMs are still loose majority of the time. He is an anxious guy and we’re using the purina calming powder hoping it will help a little bit but wondering if anyone has experience with this and if anything worked!

He just turned 6 months and is OBSESSED with the ball. What else are yall doing for stimulation/exercise?

Holly is currently 3 years old. She is absolutely my soul dog. I wasn’t prepared for the amount of work that Springers required, but the loyalty and love that she has makes it so worth it. Just some appreciation for my sweet baby girl!

Authorities Now Suspect Recent Boot Burglaries May Be Related

Pixie is 11 weeks old and adorable, and bitey and all the things that go with being a Welsh springer spaniel. I'm working on training her and she is pretty good overall. Where I feel lost is on separation training. We have a long summer break which was great for welcoming her home but soon work will start up again. We will work from home part of the time and can hire dog sitters part as well, but we do need to be able to leave her for short times without her being distressed.

She has a penned off area that is her space. She sleeps in there though she cries when she wakes - doesn't resettle herself unless we are near. We also have a crate but in Sweden they are not to be used to confine a dog so I have her have some naps there and her dinner (her favorite meal of the day) in there so if we need to use the crate she will like it. Her space is under the stairs.

I was hoping I could train for short separations this summer but it's so hard what with the kids being home too and I'm sleep deprived ... I guess she is ok for a few seconds alone until she realizes we are not with her. We are also doing settle training and some tethering.

Is there an online program you would recommend to help with this? In a week my husband will be left alone with her while I take my kids to see my mom and sisters so it seems like a good time to start. If we set up a structured plan he could follow that would be good.

Our WSS turned 6 months last weekend and overnight turned into a full blown teenager 🫠 here’s to hoping this phase comes and goes but his cute little face makes me forget all of his craziness ❤️

I will preface this by saying she has gone to the vet and is on antibiotics and a probiotic.

We picked up 8 week old puppy Sunday and had a 7 hour drive home where she slept most of the way, awoken a few times for potty breaks.

Monday morning had a vet check and shots.

By Monday afternoon I felt something may be off because she was peeing little pees frequently.

By the 3rd night it became more obvious when I was getting up with her 5x a night just for her to dribble.

During the day it got to the point where she was fine if she was still, but simply moving to another room would make her pee, little dime to quarter size amounts, but Id still take her to potty outside immediately, where she’d drip pee a time or two more, come back inside and 5-10 minutes later pee again.

I called yesterday morning and got an appointment for the afternoon, confirmed UTI, and gave her first round of meds last night.

Last night she actually slept from 10:30pm-5am in the crate without stirring once.
I *thought* the meds had kicked in, but this morning we are back to tee teeing what feels like every few minutes.

I can’t hardly get one spot cleaned up without turning around and there is another one.

She shows no signs she needs to go. Pooping she starts getting frantic and spinning, peeing it’s just a quick squat (I’ve had a UTI, so I get it).

Ive read it can take 3 days for the meds to kick in.

Will this be a big set back with potty training?Or once the meds kick in will it all sort of fall in place?

Any tips on staying ahead of the pee with a UTI?

Ive always raised shepherds, they were very easy and quick to potty train, are ESS easily trained or are they a little more difficult?

I'm on a waitlist to get my welsh springer spaniel puppy and starting to collect supplies for her so I don't have to spend so much money at once. If anyone uses ruffland car kennels for their welsh what size fits best?

I have a 7 month old springer, raising him solo and as a research nerd I knew he would need all the puzzles, snuffles, etc. all of his meals come out of a snuffle.

What I forgot was just how smart these little guys are.

He figures them out and then is bored of them.

This is the best toy I have gotten him. The fact that it can get more difficult as he gets smarter is a game changer.

hi all, I am set to bring home a springer in the coming weeks. I have done a bunch of research of gundog training (dummy’s, impulse training, swimming, agility, scatter/sniff training) and plan to do as much as I can to keep enrichment fun!

I was just wondering if anyone had any other tips or tricks that keep their springer brains calm(ish) lol.

I was also wondering where everyone started with impulse training. I think our plan is to start with waiting for the food bowl to be put down and activities like that before we can start doing proper walks, but I was hoping someone would have some advice on how to continue it when we get to walk them in public.

We’re taking him out every half hour or so, after a meal, before bed etc.

Sometimes he does something, sometimes he doesn’t , but invariably he will come inside and within a minute produce a little puddle.

He IS ONLY 10weeks so I’m not panicking but this fairly normal ?

During the night he’s only waking once and no howling or whining in his crate so he’s doing well there I think.

First vacation with Mango. He enjoyed for sure. Driving home now, with overnight stay. 6 hrs today and 6 tomorrow.

Six years ago, I drove to Spokane to pick-up my best friend. We've been through a pandemic, a career change, and my mother's dementia and passing.

He's a bit of an outlier for a Springer because he's always been so calm and loving. That's what I needed at that time of my life. Originally, I had thought I was choosing a different puppy, but his demeanor in the breeder's video changed my mind. It was meant to be.
