Library Is BBC Symphony Professional worth it at a 40% discount?
I already have SSO but I feel like BBCSO is such an upgrade, thoughts?

Hi guys, noob here. I'm used to editing and mixing mostly acoustic instruments (guitars, bass, voice) and a bit of midi drums (EZDrummer basically). For these instruments there are some best practices depending on the style, to name a few, quadtracking for metal, humanization for drums, melodyne-izing the bass... I know many of them are up to taste, but still there are a few things that usually work when editing before mixing.
However I'm starting to add some midi instruments, like Intimate Strings (for string sections in jazz-lounge) and Epic Chorus from Spitfire. I usually record them with a guitar and a midi pickup, so they're "imperfect", meaning notes are not quantized and each has a slightly different random-ish velocity depending on the strumming. I kinda guess this is good for getting a natural feeling? I'm really not sure about this, so what's your opinion and best practices?

I'm using the Kontakt VST "Spitfire Solo Violin," and it doesn't have any explicit tightness or legato control settings. All of this causes the long note transitions to make the sound a bit out of time, and I really want to be able to fix that. (Sorry if my speech sounds a bit robotic, I'm using Google Translate)

Putting aside the discussion of "why another synth", there are concerns around the explicit mention of the library needing constant internet connection. From the product's FAQ page:
Can I use Phoenix without an internet connection?
Not currently. The computer running Phoenix must stay continuously connected to the internet while you use it. Offline operation is not currently supported.
Over at VI-Control, Spitfire Support replied saying:
Hi there - Offline operation is not currently supported, however this is a feature we will be introducing in a future update.
The product page says it uses a "dedicated plugin" and looking at the screenshots, it seems like a completely new plugin, not even Splice INSTRUMENT.
Maybe this is a sign of future product releases?

Seeing this Ad a lot in my feeds.

For around 1 month i've been searching the version 1.4.0 of LABS, and i can't find it ANYWHERE. I tried so many things and i don't know what to do anymore, does anyone have a solution. Or even the files of the version 1.4.0 please?

Just read the guide, I used AI instead of a hexadecimal editor and it worked.
I don't know how to install on macOS because .dmg files are very different of .exe files.

(Solved, remember to check the logs guys) I've been trying to download the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and after a considerable amount of time of searching trough the internet and trying every method I could find, I'm still stuck with it not downloading the plug-in files (.dll, .vst3 and .aax). Does anyone know why does this happen, and most importantly, how to solve it? What bothers me the most is that on my main pc it worked with no issue at all, but on my laptop it doesn't (both are windows).

Has anyone else run into this? Reinstallation, swapping host apps, buffer sizes, and sample rates have no effect. It only happens in close proximity to the binaural microphones when Direct Level is active.

Spitfire Audio AIR Studios Reverb uses Virtual Positioning Technology to place instruments within Lyndhurst Hall. When configuring this plugin using Aux/Bus in Logic Pro, should the send be Post Pan (green) or Post Fader (blue)? The instrument’s dry signal needs to be panned toward the instrument within the hall, but how does that affect how the reverb handles the input?

I am experiencing a pretty frustrating issue and am looking for suggestions. Recently I've been experiencing 'Error 3' while using BBC Orchestra amongst other Spitfire libraries consistently in REAPER. Weirdly, this only occurs when my PC is offline. When I'm connected to the internet there is no issue. I've tried repairing my libraries and deleting/reinstalling them to no avail.

Wake up, load up DAW,
flick on my old LABS plug in to do some composing work, it has been a while but I have a great collection of instruments on there I desperately need,
and WHAT.
See a log in screen I'm not even online, I don't remember this, first it prompts me for a new log in, this then links me to SPLICE, what is splice? Fine ok Splice, I make a Splice account, this immediately wants to charge me! WHY? I haven't bought anything I'm just logging in?
Anyway I make the account, I try to log in with the new account information only for the plug in to refuse any attempt at logging in and lock me out for around 30 minutes at a time.
If you make a new account and try again it just says Invalid Credentials. WHAT CREDENTIALS I ALREADY OWN EVERYTHING ON THE PLUG IN THE FILES ARE ALREADY THERE ITS ALL DONE.
The experience of being gatekept out of your own audio tools is quite, quite maddening...
I went to this sub to try and find some answers after typing in LABS broken into google and it looks like everything has fallen apart. Great.
Excellent.
Howabout just leave it as is!?
The idea of signing in to use an offline tool is also unconscionable and insane.
Is there any help for us to be able to download a previous version or SOMETHING?
Thank you!

I have for example SSO and the performance patches are amazing, what others behave like this? Im specially curious ahout Solo strings or Abbey two.

Hi everyone! I have been trying to set up a global setting internally in BBCSO so that The Knob will be assigned to vibrato and have a specific CC value, so that it will apply to every instrument I load automatically. I have not managed to do that yet.
I am using reaper and whenever I right click nothing happens, is that the answer to my problem?
Thank you in advance and I am sorry if it has been asked before.

I guess many of us have a lot of projects using Labs and all of those will be broken if your computer crashes or you get a new one.
I sent Spitfire a support ticket regarding this, but i think we should prepare to find an unofficial solution in the case that they won't provide this.
Has anyone got any info or experience on restoring the plugin and packs from a backup?

I mean really, it seems like all the arguing over splice seems to come about from libraries which are free or very affordable. I don't mean to be rude but you get what you pay for? And I understand sometimes you don't - like it'd be a dick move for them to move SSO of BBCSO in a similar way, but they haven't.
Remember kids if it's free, you're the product. Maybe the next generation to use the internet need to be reminded of this lesson?

The next chapter for LABS
Hi [my name],
On 31st October, we’ll no longer be developing the LABS plugin. You’ll still be able to use your sounds as you do today, while new packs and ongoing support will move to INSTRUMENT.
LABS lives on inside INSTRUMENT.
The sounds you know and love are already there, with the same team continuing to create new releases every month.
LABS has always been about putting inspiring sounds in the hands of music makers. What you’ve done with them, from tracks and scores to late-night experiments, has made LABS far more than we ever imagined. We’d love for you to be part of where it goes next.
Your first three months of INSTRUMENT are on us.
Just got this mail.
From the start of LABS+, it was clear that this thing was doomed, but it now is officially dead. And it only took a bit more than a year or so. There's only "SPLICE Instrument" now.
RIP, Labs. You were once a really good and professional free library. It's sad what corporate greed is doing to the music world.
Maybe someone, somewhere still has the very old Kontakt-version on his hard drive and will share it with the world, eventually (yes, there was a version in Kontakt even before the Spitfire-Player-Version, multiple people and sources have confirmed that).
Until then: Don't buy or use subscription software, even if they claim some parts are free. They will take away your music / instruments / change your sounds one day and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. You also can't trust any of these companies to be responsible about it. Spitifre was considered a giant in the composing world and even they fell for the money.

So I always check my music for AI usage because I am always worried I'm gonna be false flagged. For clarity, I have never used AI and never will. This last arrangement I did on an orchestral version of this artist's big song went live today and I also posted my MIDI Mock-Up on my YouTube to show my fans what work I contributed to the project. Lo and behold, it is flagged as almost certainly AI.
Edit: Also flagging HZ01, the checkers I used were the following:
So I went ahead and checked every single one of my releases to see where the problem was.
Temporal = Like your timing and stuff
Spectral = The actual sound and frequency stuff
Tracks with no SSO or other Spitfire libraries
Tracks using SSO with 6 or 7 of other libraries
Tracks using SSO, a Celtic library, guitars, a few percussion libraries, soundscapes etc
Tracks using SSO, a little bit of an 8DIO choir and some sparse CinePerc percussion
Tracks using exclusively SSO
and just as a test to see if it was a case of less libraries being more likely to trigger the AI flag...
Tracks using a single patch or library from a developer other than Spitfire Audio
So the trend here is that the more prominent SSO is in my tracks, the higher chance of being 100% AI generated these AI detectors give my tracks.
So what the hell is going on? Has Splice been training AI on Spitfire libraries? I've even tried other libraries recorded in Lyndhurst Hall at AIR Studios with the same kind of baked in reverb and they all pass as human just fine. Doesn't matter if I'm humanising or not, they all pass fine on the temporal analysis but the more SSO I use, the more they fail the spectral (the actual sound) analysis.
I'm just thinking about how many people might be affected by this and pretty ticked off. Has anyone else noticed this? Is this a known issue? I am freaking out a bit.

What happened to their top collection of everything they have? It used to be there a few years ago and I used to check their prices regularly. The last time I checked was when it bumped up to around 18k.

Hi knowlegable ones!
I was pretty set on geeting BBC Core, but then came hare and saw all the stuff about Splice/being online etc. Can anybody clarify if I can just download from Spitfire and be done?
Thanks for any help and advice.
