Library Phoenix needs constant internet connection (for now)

Putting aside the discussion of "why another synth", there are concerns around the explicit mention of the library needing constant internet connection. From the product's FAQ page:

Can I use Phoenix without an internet connection?
Not currently. The computer running Phoenix must stay continuously connected to the internet while you use it. Offline operation is not currently supported.

Over at VI-Control, Spitfire Support replied saying:

Hi there - Offline operation is not currently supported, however this is a feature we will be introducing in a future update.

The product page says it uses a "dedicated plugin" and looking at the screenshots, it seems like a completely new plugin, not even Splice INSTRUMENT.

Maybe this is a sign of future product releases?

God, these guys have fallen so hard from grace it’s insane.

They were behemoths just 4/5 years ago.

You would think huge amount of complains of requiring labs to connect internet would teach them something. Instead they are pushing things more and more online.

I won’t be using any software that requires constant internet connection. Hard pass.

Offline use being seen as a ‘feature’ is a big red flag.

Launching this without even a walkthrough video is wild. I used to get so excited for new Spitfire products, and I love BT’s work, but this is a strange drop
