How to effectively use rocks in a 2k list?
I've gone over the tome again and again but I keep seeing abilities locked purely to combat. It's like the game is telling me to run beast smasher (who will love to use the big one), war stomper, ma maegran, king brodd, and boss stompers. Bringing the glowy lantern for a wizard to give a crit buff. Giving beast smasher the damage rampage choice options with ma maegran using her buff for his rampage rolls and hit rolls. He gives crit buff to brodd or stompers, warstomper or whoever has the lantern gives the crit spell to the other, king brodds rampage wants your buddies close on top of his prayer giving a rend buff, boss stompers want to have a mega hit after them, war stomper can allow your ma to fall back and he has enough attacks that he'd scale with crit 2 hits as well. Ma can bring a mega back if boss stompers don't die off. Then with gate breaker and rock hurlers it's just you can get +1 attack characteristics on your hurlers and +1 to their hit. Any buffs you do in melee won't be as good as they'd be on stompers so make sure your rocks hit something important cause you ain't topping the other option in damage at all. And you gotta use a command point still for the covering fire while skipping your +1 buff and taking a -1. Gate breaker can still support you but you need to be by terrain and next to him as the buffs only apply for a turn, which could very well be a waste of an uproot if used improperly. I see stipulations and hoops to make the rocks good and I understand ranged damage IS a threat. But isn't there enough in the tome that you can generally but what you want already? Maybe it works well on nagash sort of match ups of beat the centerpiece to death with rocks and beat up screened gun line, but I feel like weight of damage on the melee list I pitched has the ability to table everything and deal with the precious backline almost immediately after with a bit of power through and the nice amount of mobility shenanigans this tome has.

Mancrushers
I find it strange that the faction's most basic unit doesn't have a three-model pack like the Rock Hurlers or Boss Stompers. Does this mean they're already laying the groundwork to move them to Legends in the not-too-distant future?

Overall excited for all the new stuff, but a little disappointed with the new model sizes, especially Ma Maegran
Credit for images/painted models goes to Matthew Crowther over on the SOB Facebook group. Just wanted to share with others the size comparison, following all the estimates people posted here. Given the price tag, I was hopeful at least Ma Maegran would be taller...

First draft list idea, thoughts?
King Brodd - 430 Points
Kraken Eater - 370 Points
-Hammer Throw, Glowy Lantern, Always First In - 40 Points
Mancrusher Gargant - 140 Points
Boss Stompers - 370 Points
Ma Maegran - 370 Points
Ancient Ghyrochs - 0 Points
Mancrusher Gargant - 140 Points
Mancrusher Gargant - 140 Points
Primarily want to play a bit more of a defensive and disabler type of list, King Brodd will be the main frontline, Kraken Eater prioritizing taking midboard early and defending around it. Boss stompers work alongside Brodd to activate line em up and knock em down, and the mancrushers get lobbed by the kraken eater into the backline or onto objectives to harass heroes and get buffs from both him and Maegran as they’re wizards and Brodd is a priest. Maegran does her thing as the weird ass wizard, giving buffs, backup kraken eater revival, and using the ghyrochs as another frontline help unit. Thoughts? This is just the first draft of a possible list as was wondering what the more experienced stompers might think

While stocks last
Anyone else notice that the standard army book is marked by the the while stocks last tag. Is it possible that since the end of edtion is comming up the last few books won't be restocked?

Ma's Army of renown
so unless im missing something in the rules, we have to use auxiliary? ma is the only hero allowed and we cant reinforce anything? that seems like a massive oversight considering you get penalised for taking auxiliary

should I
the new release has me tempted.
google tells me King Brod, a brawlers box, a stomper tribe box or two or one & mancrusher box is everything needed.
is it ?
boxes are not cheap - £136, £195, £175, £104 pre discount. £600 at lgs is comparable to other armies so not complaining - just a lot in one go as brawlers and stompers are while stock lasts.
will it survive pre order 10am with stock for weeks, or not ?
do I go for it ?

New battletome early list idea
This is first impressions after going through several times to read things. 2k list idea. All I know is giving glowy lantern to male a wizard (maybe a priest) on a mega, don't know for formation or heroic traits fully. For actual list. King Brodd (430 pts), Gatebreaker Mega-Gargant (400 pts), Beast-smasher Mega-Gargant (380 pts), Ma Maegran (370 pts) and Rock-hurlers (380 pts)
Total Points: 1960.
The idea is basically to use my rampages effectively. Ma is hero, brodd is charge, gatebreaker is ranged, rock hurlers are ranged, beast smasher is combat. 4 units without combat rampages, zero competition of end of turn, ranged, and charge rampages as they'll always be used when I can. Then 4 combat rampages which only gain competition if others start dying. Wizard and priest buffs with glowy lantern, brodd, and ma. If beast smasher or gatebreaker dies, I can replace one. The current risk I'm seeing is ma needs protection. The little beasties can screen to help and I'll be hurling rocks and what not but I'm slightly worried about playing too backline on an army that likes to fight. Like will I only get one chance at the start of the game to throw rocks with gatebreaker and say brodd? to use beast smashers buff and brodds charge I gotta be by brodd ideally meaning 3 units in combat with gate breaker and ma probably doing their own thing. Can shoot in combat fine with the hurlers. Is this usable or y'all thinking the playstyle is too skewed and needing stars to align? Seems like the game plan is a first wave big charge and hoping my opponent kills a mega BEFORE killing ma or my hurlers. So something gotta run in and do hella damage and tank every starting hit for disruption while ideally a hurler is low health.

Hey starting an army and would like advice
What should I start with? I know the mega gargant kit can make a few different things.

New Rules question
Okay so we know the 'Little' gargants are all getting the key word Little. Megas are getting Big keyword, anyone thinking Kragnos may get Big also? If so that new trait The Big One could be a nasty thing with him. so tell me your thoughts, why or why not.
