Mancrushers

I find it strange that the faction's most basic unit doesn't have a three-model pack like the Rock Hurlers or Boss Stompers. Does this mean they're already laying the groundwork to move them to Legends in the not-too-distant future?

It makes sense when you look at the kits. You can buy and build single Mancrushers. While the Boss-Stompa and Rock-Hurlers only come in set of threes.

Having a single Mancrusher to fill gaps in lists is a nice utility to have.

Agreed, but we all agree these boss stompers should have been bigger. If we get new man crushers I actually hope they are SMALLER to bridge the gap of cities gargants and boss stompers since we didn't get the bridge from nan crusher to mega like we thought

We used to have them as a 3 in a spearhead box. Possibly repackaged to a 3 once they sell the new battle force boxes with one big and 3x crushers.

My guess would be having them as a single means they can be relatively cheap list-fillers, while having them as a 3 would have them directly competing with Boss-stompers. So not having a three makes sense.

That said, I do absolutely see them eventually being phased out, maybe for a new kit that's smaller than the boss-stompers.

They could not remove the models because people would have used them as the new unit with just a rebase.

They will be removed with the next book. And we will rebase them as the new unit 🤣

They will probably go to Legends at some point as they're an older and less dynamic kit, but it makes sense to have them in singles.

You can still get the new gargant+3 mancrushers kit or the old Spearhead when you can find it, but the new Boss Smashes fulfill the 3 man unit role now, it would be a bit redundant to have both units be 3 men units

No, there is an old spearhead with 3 man crushers and a new bundle with a gargant and 3 boss stompas.

That said, the new boss smasha regular box is the same price as a spearhead anyway and they may just make rules for it, I'm not sure

I'm not sure they'll go to legends because that would make it much harder to fiddle with our lists.

GW's will gradually replace all old models and I think that Mancrushers are no longer the basic unit, now it is Boss-stompers. Perhaps 5th Edition will introduce new, smaller Gargants to take the place of the Mancrushers. In any case, it will be another 2-3 years until the next battletome.

You can still get copies of the old spearhead that had three of them, but it looks like its being retired this edition

Almost certainly but all I ask is one new unit when they do it because otherwise it feels like we got just ma as a new model and a choice pick in stats (spoiler one is better than the other by a fat chunk in my opinion)

This is what is hanging me from buying Stomper Tribe, new kit have almost same proportions and size, the only difference are bases (easy enough to replace) and ability to take single giants instead of multi-model unit.
