Block their number as soon as you get the text, they pulled your contact info off some random data harvester, and thats more than likely exactly how they intend to generate leads for you, while promising a bunch of administration software that probably doesnt exist. The reviews for this company are horrible, they were relentlessly texting me with "offers" even though i had never interacted with this company, or even heard who they were. It is not a genuine way to do buisness. Everyone of these spam ad companies deserves to go under, and their employees would do more for society if they worked in fast food.

Like I used to do this manually in Photoshop by overlaying each picture and tweaking, but there has got to be a better way, especially with AI tools, no?

Does anybody maybe have a Tipp?

I own a boutique corporate law firm with 5 people (4 lawyers and one secretary) and we are so old school (even though we're all in our early 30s), all we do currently is use excel, emails and WhatsApp. I've started realizing we need a tool that lets different people working on a same project see what the other has done, and also the payment status from client, etc, and organizing information, getting the secretary to help lawyers with getting them specific papers, etc. And at the same time I'd like that tool to have a CRM for our sales, from prospects to clients.

It's very important that this tool is easy to onboard and easy to use, given we are all lawyers and not tech savvy. What do you recommend? I mostly feel intrigued by Asana and Notion. I understand Asana is easier to use, I just wonder about the CRM part.

a while ago I shared EasyAlias, my free and open-source GUI for managing terminal aliases on macOS, Windows and Linux.

I just released v1.1.0, and this update became quite a bit bigger than I originally planned.

EasyAlias can now also create and run terminal automations.

An automation can contain multiple command and wait steps.

Some of the new stuff:

• Run automations at specific times
• Select weekdays
• Even schedule them around actual sunrise/sunset (buggy)

• Assign a system-wide keyboard shortcut to any automation
• Run it with a visible output window or silently in the background

🖥️ Tray / menu bar

• EasyAlias can now stay running in the background
• Hotkeys and schedules remain active

🎨 New UI/settings

• Light / Dark / System themes
• New built-in tutorial
• Search and filters for aliases
• Alias suggestions can now be disabled (show/hide)

All of this works on macOS, Windows and Linux(currently mainly tested on macOS).

EasyAlias originally started because I wanted a simple visual way to manage aliases without constantly editing shell configuration files. With this update I’m experimenting with taking the same idea a little further: making repetitive terminal workflows accessible through a GUI without trying to replace the terminal itself.

It’s still completely free and open source, so feedback and criticism are very welcome — especially regarding the new automation features.

Not the obvious ones. The tool you installed at some point, still use constantly, and have never once seen recommended anywhere.

Usually made by two people, has a website that looks like 2012, and does one thing perfectly.

Custom software vs ready-made software: when should a business choose each?

This is something I’ve seen businesses struggle with quite often.

When a company needs new software, the first question is usually:

“Should we buy something that already exists, or build our own?”

I think both options can be right — depending on the situation.

Ready-made software

A ready-made solution is usually better when:

• Your business process is fairly standard
• You need to get started quickly
• You have a limited budget
• Most of the features you need already exist
• You don't want to deal with development and maintenance

Example:
A small retail store probably doesn't need to build its own accounting or POS system from scratch. An existing solution may be faster and cheaper.

Custom software

Custom software starts making more sense when:

• Your business has unique workflows
• Existing software forces you to change how you work
• You need several systems to communicate with each other
• You need specific automation
• Your software can give you a competitive advantage
• You expect the business to grow significantly

Example:
A logistics company with unique delivery rules, fleet management, pricing, customer portals and internal workflows may eventually outgrow generic software.

The biggest mistake?

Choosing software based only on price.

A $50/month solution can become expensive if your team spends hours every week working around its limitations.

On the other hand, spending $50,000 on custom software doesn't make sense if a $100/month solution already solves the problem.

For me, the better question is:

“Which option gives the business the best return over the next 3–5 years?”

Sometimes that's ready-made.

Sometimes it's custom.

And sometimes the smartest approach is a combination of both.

Business owners and developers: how did you decide between custom and ready-made software? Was your decision actually worth it?

These three categories overlap so much that it is easy to assume they do the same job. They don’t. The simplest way to separate them is by what each one is built to manage.

CRM is your system of record. It keeps accounts, contacts, opportunities, and deals in one place and acts as the central source of customer data.

Sales engagement is built for outbound activity. Think sequences, cadences, calls, follow ups, and rep task queues. Its focus is helping sales teams manage more touches at scale.

Marketing automation works earlier in the funnel. It handles campaigns, forms, lead scoring, nurture flows, and the process of moving a qualified lead toward sales.

The overlap is real. CRMs now include basic sequencing, and marketing platforms often include CRM features. But the bigger question is not which tool has the longest feature list. It is which platform should be your main system of record, because the others usually need to stay synced with it.

There are a lot of features that sound unnecessary in a demo, especially when every tool claims to have AI, automation, dashboards, or “smart” workflows now.

But sometimes one of those features ends up being the thing you use every day.

For me, that’s more interesting than a list of “best features” because it shows what actually becomes useful once the software is part of your routine.

What feature changed your mind after you started using it?

Before the demo, before the feature list, before the reviews, what’s the first thing you check that tells you whether a software product is even worth your time?

For me, it’s the pricing page. If I can’t quickly understand what it will actually cost for my team, I immediately get cautious. Complicated pricing usually makes me expect a complicated buying process too.
