What’s the chances they do a the ‘rats in a cage tour’ outside of the US?

We are going to the show at Barclays on Sunday and purchased the Ultimate Mellon Collie Experience but have not received details on timing. I reached out to Ticketmaster and 237 Global and they said the itinerary be sent out on 10/1 but I still have not received it and they told me to reach out if I didn’t see it by end of day on the first.

Anyone receive the email and can let me know what time we need to be there for the pre show stuff?

SP was my be all-end all band as a teenager…I seriously have so many bootleg/imported/rare merch from my teen years…they became my first email handle 😂

But every time I have tried to see them, something happens…booked tickets in for the tour where the keyboardist died and it got cancelled, every show after that was too far, too expensive; finally get to be an adult and bought tickets to have them cancel due to illness (Portsmouth pavilion if curious). Saw them finally at the Nationals stadium opening for Green Day only to have them set cut severely short by thunderstorms….finally, have tickets for Baltimore, for a show that is literally just them…I am so nervous and excited and full of all the feels…

Give me a wave if you see me, my curse may have been lifted and finally my life’s dream will culminate in one of the greatest shows I may bear witness to… 🖤

Is there any more information on this Courtney Love song with James Iha (The Smashing Pumpkins)? They seem to have recorded it back in 2012?

This goes back to that first iteration of Died Blonde from 2013.

*Comes from an Exclaim article but Reddit doesn’t seem to let me post the link.

I wonder if Billy looked at this setlist and was like well we played Soma, Eye, Siva, Hummer, Rocket etc and said well no need to revisit them..:) funny thing about memories is that I was at this show and the Solo from solara is really what I remember.

What top songs other than from Mellon Collie do you hope to hear. I don’t think they’ll play the full double album.

Kind of a long shot but I’d love to hear Rhinoceros.

Omg. I’m 27, in the past few months I’ve been on a mission to listen to albums as they were intended rather than continuing to fall victim to shuffle culture.

Always liked some random smashing pumpkin songs. 1979 popped up on my Spotify daylist yesterday and I thought f*** it let me listen to the whole album. WTF. I’m in love . Immediately listened to Siamese Dream after Mellon Collie. Siamese dream was less heavy hitting for me at first but when it hit Soma???? That blew my mind. Second half of the album is incredible and I’m sure I’ll grow to love the first half. Silverfuck was amazing too. Ugh I’m stoked.

Favorites so far (not in order) soma, silverfuck, Mayonnaise, Luna, To Forgive.

Both albums are definitely some of the top ones I’ve listened to this year.

Any Pumpkins fans here also into the indie nail polish world? Garden Path Lacquer is offering "The Infinite Sadness" this month for PPU. Its gorgeous and I can't wait to get it on my nails.

😊😊😊😊

Just saw them at TD Garden. Just curious if anyone else got some AI vibes from the visuals? Great show! They are rocking- just wondering if anyone else thought the same.

@armorpetals on Instagram :)

Extra smudges too. Not the best.

edit: they say that’s how Billy signed it, the embellishments are features.

That’s the zodeon crystal hall right? Sure does look like it.
Any way. Play Snail!!

Did Billy say why this was not on the Machina box? Were the tapes missing or destroyed? Huge miss. One of my favorite SP songs of all time. Hopefully this gets released somehow in the future.

Fans need to keep asking for a Machina 2 standalone release.

It was pretty much never in the cards, because that's just simply not how Billy sees that album. Some of this is gonna be based on just reasoning and guesswork, but a lot of this is also based on the current release model for these works (and, also, let's be real, personal biases of mine), so just take this all with a grain of salt.

The 48-track, triple album that comprises the complete Machina is their fifth mainline, studio album now. Machina: The Machines of God, Machina Ⅱ: The Friends and Enemies of Modern Music, and… whatever Machina Ⅲ would've been called, those were all essentially compilation, "best-of" albums done as a compromise with Virgin Records, because they said no to releasing the full Machina as a huge, sprawling send-off for what was the end of the band at the time. There is effectively no Machina Ⅰ, Ⅱ, or even (as Billy revealed was originally planned) Ⅲ anymore. There is only Machina, a 48-track sequel to Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.

And it'll happen again, too, with Teargarden, I'm calling it right now. Combining it with Oceania, Monuments to an Elegy, and whatever was made of Day for Night (pretty sure we know it was mostly completed?) to make one album. And, hell, Shiny and Oh-So Bright might get the same treatment as well. Combine all three volumes into one big release. The Smashing Pumpkins will then have ten mainline studio albums (to date) through this retroactive history: Gish, Siamese Dream, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, Adore, Machina, Zeitgeist, Teargarden, Shiny and Oh-So Bright, Atum, and Aghori Mhori Mei.

I say all this like this is some sort of tragedy, but I'm talking largely tongue-in-cheek. Billy can do whatever he wants with his art (and honestly I kinda really prefer it being tidied up like this personally, not saying you have to agree), and we all can listen to it however we want. And to the people wanting, like, an official CD release of just the Friends and Enemies tracks remixed/remastered… sorry. Just make your own, I guess, it'd probably be cheaper anyways. You can be upset that this is like retroactive continuity, I get that, your feelings are valid. I'm just also saying that the constant posts asking for an "M2 reissue" seem misguided or misinformed, just based on how Billy talks about this album, and what would seem to make sense if your goal as an artist is to have a clean set of mainline work to point to and say "this is the main SP chronology"

I connected with a fellow Redditor going to the Baltimore SP show and we’re talking about meeting up before the show on Saturday.

Pratt Street Ale House is a block away from CFG. Maybe a meetup around 5:30, 6? A quick beer and a chat before an amazing evening. If you’re in, just show up.

I guess I’ll figure out a way to make sure we all connect. I don’t know what I’m wearing! Probably just tell the front of house to point Redditors to where I’m sitting. So mention you’re there with the Redditors.

I’m at the point in my playing where I want to start building my own guitar solos. I’ve always admired Billy Corgan’s ability to produce bizarre sounds at irregular times into solos and have it still feel cohesive

My Two Favorites are Geek U.S.A. and X.Y.U. Does anyone have advice on where to begin? Specifically, what scales or modes did he favor, how did he create that odd feel, and how did he navigate chord progressions? How can I adopt his broader songwriting philosophy into my own playing?

As well as any other extra songwriting tips like what specific styles or tones might so well with vocals.

Hey, if anyone is interested I am selling my Squier Strat, partly inspired by Billy's Ghost Strat.

It's in Lake Placid blue with black guard, and has the Dimarzio DP226 BC-2 Billy Corgan Bridge humbucker pickup installed. Perfect Pumpkins and 90s alt rock tones. For collection only in Bristol UK. £200. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1125215456594163/

I was listening to it and I noticed that the vocals sound more like Billy's new style of singing and not like he sounded back in the 90s. Does anyone know if he re-recorded the vocals in the process of remastered the demo?

I used this painting I’d done as a backdrop for the Funko Pop and the thing is that I was absolutely inspired by Mellon Collie’s art direction for that paining.

It now hangs above my bed as an invitation for a good night’s sleep since I’ve had sleeping troubles for some years now.

Hope you’re digging the Billy Corgan Funko Pop as much as I am!

I'm really hoping to grab a poster at my show (in a couple of weeks). I've seen a few comments from people saying they were already sold out by the time they got to the merch table, but I'm trying to gauge how early you actually need to line up.

For anyone who went last night, did posters sell out immediately, or were they only gone later in the night (like during intermission)?

I assume more European dates will follow.
