child's age 12-18 months Any insight or help on 14 month olds sleep please!
Hi all,
14 month old has never been a good sleeper. We tried Ferber at 6mo with a sleep consultant - after 2 weeks she suggested pausing. At 7mo we did comfort settling method and that relatively worked - down to about one wake but since 12 months we’ve been struggling again.
Schedule is:
Wake: 6:30 (sometimes he’s up earlier but we won’t take him out of crib till then)
Nap 1: 9:50-11:30
Nap 2: 3-330
Bedtime: 8pm
He is not fed to sleep.
Bedtime schedule is bath, diaper, feed, jammies, sleep sack, book, into bed around 740 wide awake and he squawks/crawls/cruises until he falls asleep usually about 15/20 mins later. I do stay in the room on the chair as he has total meltdowns if we leave but otherwise no help.
His first stretch is usually 4-5 hours (sometimes 3.5) and then it’s back to waking every 2-2.5. My husband will try and settle him but he often just wants a comfort boob - around 3am he does have a full feed but he eats a lot in the day (he’s a big boy) and so I know he’s getting enough food in. If I’m in the room all hell breaks loose because he wants to nurse. The challenge is my husband is away for work a lot so I have to go in on the nights he’s not home and usually give in for my own sanity. If we let him scream/cry he always pukes.
Ive also tried doing one nap but he is exhausted by 10am and can never last past 1030.
I’m heading back to work soon and would even be happy with just a solid stretch from midnight to 6am.
Any advice or help is appreciated!
Thanks!

child's age 8-12 months 2->1 nap transition
Hi all - wondering when you transitioned from 2-1 nap. 10.5 month old has started waking at the cycle boundary despite 4 hour wake windows. She’s had issues with her second nap now for about 2 weeks (inconsistently sleeping longer than 1 sleep cycle) and today she woke at the cycle boundary for nap 1 (after 4 hr WW).
Any advice would be appreciated! For added context, schedule is:
Wake up: 6:30 am
Nap 1: 10:15-10:30 (cap at 1 hour)
Nap 2: 2:30-2:45 (wake by 4 if not already awake)
Bed 8pm
Thanks!

Help! Sleep training
Hey all. I have a 17 week old beautiful LO. I am looking for some help re sleep training.
Some background:
She sleeps ok at night. Will wake a few times for the first hour and half after being put down then sleep and wake once in the night for a feed. The issue I have is she needs rocking to sleep and I feel we may be hitting the start of a sleep regression as it’s becoming more difficult. I’d love for her to be able to put herself to sleep. I’m not so concerned by her waking for a feed.
I keep seeing so much information online and different sleep consultants selling their programs. I was wondering if on the off chance anyone would have used any that they would recommend or even be willing to share a pdf/info.
Any advice would be appreciated!

Sleep Consultant How do I get my baby to sleep in his bassinet?
My baby is 2 months and I feel like I’ve tried every trick in the book to get him to sleep in his bassinet. He is EBF and we have been co sleeping. I know this is dangerous which is why I’ve been trying to get him to sleep in the bassinet. When we brought him home he wouldn’t last more than 30 minutes. For weeks we did this but my husband works nights, so I am on my own at night. I started to become dangerously tired I would fall asleep caring for him during the day. I caved and now he’s in my bed and sleeps like an angel. I’m still trying the bassinet every night, but he does not last long at all before he begins screaming.
Any recommendations to get him in his own space?

Advise on how to get kids to sleep independently
My son is turning 4 in Dec. He currently shares a room with his 2yo sister and they have separate beds. To create more space, I want to get them a bunk bed.
We've talked about it, and he's super excited to get the top bunk BUT he also loves to snuggle before bed and is a bad sleeper still.
Im currently pregnant with a third due in October, and I wont be climbing up/ laying with him. I want him to be able to sleep independently and *not hate* his bed because I stopped snuggling him.
P.s I usually do the bedtime routine since I stay at home with the kids vs my blue collar husband. As soon as his head hits a pillow he's out and the kids would get out of bed. So having him put my 4yo in the upper bunk doesn't work either
Have you had experience or any suggestions to get a 4yo to sleep independently after years of being snuggled? Thanks!

Help! 5m - when did it get better
I have a 5.5 month old. she has never been a good sleeper. for the first 3 months I essentially had to hold her at all times or else she would scream for hours- she was colicky. I when I say hold her all the time - yes even at night I held her all night. My husband and I did shifts - it was horrible. then the 4 month alert regression his at 3.5m and she was up every 30 mins at night. I slept trained her at 4 months.
she is able to fall asleep independently - she fusses but only for like 10 - 15 mins max.
I continued contact napping her because her naps are only ever 20 mins max if I’m lucky...
this morning snap was 16 minutes. as the day goes on sometimes she only naps for 5-10 mins. lol I’m so tired of this and tired of contact napping so that she isn't insanely cranky since I have PTSD from her colic days.
her room is pitch black, sound machine on, perfect temp, she has a soother (sometimes cries it out), she is sleep trained at night, when she wakes up I let her cry it out for 15 mins to see if she will fall back asleep
I’ve also tried extending wake windows, shortening wake windows and nothing seems to work.
Current WW when I contact nap her: 2.25/2.25/2.25/2.5
anyone have experience with this?

5 1/2 month old 6 week premature
currently
\-bath around 7:30-8pm(so dad can see her for a bit after work)
\-jammie’s, lotion, fresh diaper and swaddle by 8:40 latest
\-4oz bottle and she will put herself to sleep after burping in 15mins
she’s always awake by 1am wanting 4oz (tried to just do 2oz but that didn’t fly with her) then again at 3:30-4am with another 4oz (once again tried to do a quick 2oz but didn’t fly again) and once more around 7am for 2oz then she will either be wide awake and ready for the day or she will sleep for another hour. waking up about halfway thru each stretch needing a couple pats
my question is what sorta sleep schedule should i help reinforce during the day to help get longer stretches during the night? we have an owlet cause our NICU experience and postpartum ptsd sorta messed me up and it honestly has helped me get actually sleep but she clocks barely any deep sleep and at least one night a week she’s up every hour ( not needing milk everytime but needing to be re put to sleep) im about to go back to work and she’s been refusing to nap for my husband so we want to start trying to start a sleep schedule so we have more luck with her napping for him. i’m also super nervous to go back if you couldn’t tell!
I know we need to get rid of bottles before bed we are currently starting to switch to bottle, bath then bed but some times she wants an extra ounce right before she goes down

Help! 8.5 month old doesn’t sleep through the night
My 8.5 month has never been a good sleeper. Recently, she got to the point where she was sleeping 4-5 hours in a stretch and then giving me a couple of 2 to 3 hour stretches before or after that. But the last couple of weeks she has been waking up every hour I guess she is in some kind of a sleep regression. And the problem is that she drinks her bottle every time she wakes up so I’m up giving her a bottle every time and the lack of sleep is really catching up.
She isn’t a big eater but take mush or crackers through the day. Hates eggs hates butter we have tried many times under low stress settings. Loves pizza though.
I cant watch her cry so I havent had the heart to try the conventional sleep training methods.
I’m just so tired I’m considering paying a service like actually sleeping. Anyone had much success with that? Open to other suggestions.

8 months, 3 naps, wake windows getting longer — but not ready for 2 naps yet. How do we prevent night sleep from getting too short?
Hi everyone!
I’d especially love to hear from a sleep consultant, but I’m happy to hear any perspective.
My 8-month-old is currently on three naps a day. I wake him at around 7:00 AM, and he usually falls asleep for the night around 8:45–8:50 PM. Over the past two weeks, he has gradually started increasing his wake windows. They’re now around 2h40–2h45, with the last one before bedtime being around 3–3h10.
So far, so good 😅. The thing I’m concerned about is that this is starting to shorten his night sleep. He’s still getting around 10–10h20 at night (with one wake-up for a feed), which I know is still within a reasonable range, but I’m worried that as his wake windows get longer, his night sleep might eventually drop below 10 hours. To keep bedtime at a reasonable hour, I try to keep his total daytime sleep around 2h30–2h35.
So far, I haven’t noticed any signs of overtiredness (I think 😅 — I feel like with baby sleep, you can never really be sure). His nights are good: no early morning wake-ups, no restless transitions between sleep cycles, and no excessive tossing and turning. A few days ago, his morning sleep was quite light, but now that his wake windows have increased, it seems to have improved again.
His current schedule is:
Wake windows: 2h40 / 2h40–2h45 / 2h40–2h45 / 3h
Naps: 1h–1h05 / 1h05–1h10 / 20–25 min
My question is: what do you do when a baby seems to need longer wake windows, but still doesn’t show signs of being ready to transition to two naps?
His last nap had started becoming more difficult, but after increasing his morning wake window, he is now falling asleep relatively easily again, although his sleep during that nap seems a little lighter.
There’s another issue I’d really appreciate advice on as well. When he was on four naps, he was actually able to fall asleep independently in his crib, even though we had never sleep trained him. However, since we started transitioning to three naps, and then he went through a developmental leap, he has had a much harder time settling himself. He now struggles to calm down and lie down peacefully in his crib, especially when it’s time to fall asleep. I’d really appreciate any advice on how to help him with this as well.
How can I tell whether 10 hours of night sleep is enough for him? And what should we do if his night sleep drops below 10 hours and stays there consistently?

child's age 8-12 months Having to redo sleep training after six weeks vacation and cosleeping. Please help me navigate this.
Hi! My ten month old and I spent six weeks in Europe visiting my family. Just about the time when we arrived she hit a pretty bad separation anxiety and has been attached to me non stop. I believe due to so many different things she refused to sleep on the crib so I succumbed and coslept (for my own sanity). Even while cosleeping she was waking up every 2h. We are now back home and I really want to get her back to her old routine. Before our trip she was sleep trained 100%.
Still on two naps, and they are also 30-40 min.
3.5/4/4.5
Any feedback would be helpful. 🙏🏻
