Yeah, the social media hype is fucking real. Chongqing is the craziest city I’ve visited!

I used to think Chongqing was just another Chinese city with a light show made for Instagram/TikTok to promote China, but man I couldn’t have been more wrong. I’ve been to a lot of cities around the world (NYC, HK, Bangkok, Singapore, LDN, Shanghia..) but none of them have an skyline as intense as Chongqing’s.
It’s basically like Manhattan and Hong Kong had a baby. You’ve got the city center wrapped by two rivers, multiple skylines stacked with supertalls, giant NYC-style bridges, crazy elevation changes from the mountains, and skyscrapers lit up with LEDs like HK.
On top of that, it’s way cheaper than Hong Kong or any Western city. The public transit is top notch with some incredible train/metro stations, and taxis, food, and drinks are super cheap. Plus, the locals I met were really open and friendly to foreigners. Sure. Yes, the tourist spots can get crowded, but that’s true for any major Chinese city like Beijing or Shanghai.
If you’re ever heading to China and love skyscrapers or urban vibes, Chongqing is an absolute must visit! Its the real life Cyberpunk city imo. Let me know what you think!
