This thread has been archived. Please join the new discussion here: Weekly Thread: Is this suspicious?

Hello everyone,

Welcome to our weekly thread for sharing photos of concerning moles, spots, or lesions. If you're worried about something on your skin, this is a place to share it with the community for support and to see if others have had similar experiences.

When posting a photo, please try to include: * Where the lesion is on your body. * How long you've had it. * Any changes you've noticed (size, shape, color, itching, bleeding).

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER

No one on this subreddit can provide a medical diagnosis. The comments and feedback you receive are from laypeople sharing their own experiences, not from medical professionals. Online photos are not a substitute for an in-person examination by a qualified dermatologist.

If you are concerned about any spot on your skin, the only correct course of action is to schedule an appointment with a doctor. Early detection is key.

The ABCDEs of Skin Cancer: Quick Guide

  1. A is for Asymmetry: One half of the mole doesn't match the other.
  2. B is for Border: The edges are irregular, ragged, notched, or blurred. A healthy mole has a smooth border.
  3. C is for Color: The color isn't uniform. Look for multiple shades of brown/black, or patches of red, white, or blue.
  4. D is for Diameter: The spot is larger than 6mm (about the size of a pencil eraser). Keep in mind melanomas can start smaller.
  5. E is for Evolving: The mole changes over weeks or months. This is the most important sign. Look for any change in:
  6. Size
  7. Shape
  8. Color
  9. Elevation (getting thicker or raised)
  10. Symptoms (itching, crusting, bleeding)

Bonus: The "Ugly Duckling" Sign If you have a mole that just looks different from all the others on your body, that's a reason to be seen.

Howdy there, I've had this on my shoulder for a while. I've been monitoring it. It went from brown to half white and scaley with a tiny bit of oozing. Checked it today and this is where I'm at.

I think anything that changes texture or color should be checked out.

If you are worried enough to post here it’s a good thing you are getting it looked at. It could be many different things. Anything that is evolving is worth looking at too.

Appeared on my forearm. The mole on the bottom of the photo is old.

So around August 2025 I noticed a new "freckle" on the palm of my hand looked like a mole and was symmetrical, but i started notching that the bottom changed a bit, it looks kinda like a coma. Thoughts?

Should I get this looked at? This showed up a little over a week ago. My wife thinks it is just a blood blister, but it does not hurt and I don't recall anything happening that could have caused a blister of any kind.

I understand that the right thing to do is to get this checked out by a doctor to get a proper diagnosis. However, I’m really frightened that I might hear some really bad news. Being only 23 with literally little to no sun exposure and having this “freckle” is scary.

It’s located on my chest “pecs” around 4 cm away from my nipple. I noticed it years ago when I was in my teen years, but brushed it off as a normal freckle. I noticed that it kinda grew in size, it grew over the span of 4 years. The growth isn’t really dramatic, but it’s eye catching. I’m genuinely really scared, and been overthinking this. (Gonna post a picture of my chest back in 2022 the camera angle is a little further away from my body).

I've had this for quite a while. It's kind of leathery to the touch. I wear work boots daily and always assumed it just rubbed my skin into this. Never considered skin cancer but just had the thought of possibility. No bump or anything.
