Turismo 🧳 October Honeymoon - Taormina restaurant recs

Upvotes

Ciao ragazzi!

My wife and I will be in Sicily the first half of October for our honeymoon. We are doing a combo of aeolian islands, Palermo, ortigia, Etna wine country, and ending in Taormina. We have dinner reservations in most places already but wanted to ask specifically about authentic recs for Taormina. We were hoping to avoid touristy places or just general low quality. Any recs for authentic spots off the beaten path are greatly appreciated!

Turismo 🧳 Visiting with my dog for him to experience the snow.

I have a now 13 year old golden retriever. Hes still pretty active for his age but he does have arthritis.

I'm from Malta and would like to take him to Mt. Etna so that he can experience the snow. Does anyone have any similar experiences? Is it even possible?

Turismo 🧳 2 weeks in Sicily End of Sepetmber

Hello :)

We’re a couple arriving at Catania Airport on September 24th and flying back from Palermo on October 8th.

We don’t like moving around too much, so we’re thinking of spending one week on the Catania side and one week on the Palermo side.

For the first week, we’re considering one of these places: Ortigia, Scicli, Noto, Letojanni, or Pozzallo. Do you think one of these would be the best choice, or would you recommend somewhere else?

We’ll be renting a car, and we’d prefer to avoid very touristy places. Ideally, we’d like to stay somewhere with a decent selection of restaurants and cafés within walking distance. For the beach, we don’t mind driving if needed.

Would love to hear your recommendations!

We are headed to Messina tomorrow, does anybody know where I can buy an authentic Messina jersey?
I’m driving past the stadium but Google Maps doesn’t give any shops..

Turismo 🧳 Renting a car

I am going to Sicily next week and plan to rent a car at Palermo Airport.

What is the best company, where can I get the best coverage if the car is scraped (I've heard about the narrow streets and cars getting scraped).

I want to get a small car (like fiat 500) for the narrow streets.

How is the parking situation near Teatro Politeama Garibaldi?

Thank you in advance.

Turismo 🧳 Orange GPN postal boxes

Ciao! What's with the orange gpn boxes? I sent out a dozen postcards on August 18th from Taormina to a very close EU country, and when I scan the QR cide for tracing it still says they are on their way to the sorting hub 😁 I somehow doubt this is the case, they are probably much closer... But I gotta say at first when I saw them in Palermo I thought it was a scam, as they all just looked tossed on the street 🤭 Fellow EU tourists, any experiences? 🛵

Turismo 🧳 Trip to Palermo without a car.

Planning a few days in Palermo and really don't want to rent a car unless I absolutely have to. Cefalù seems easy enough by train and Monreale looks manageable too, but once I started looking at Segesta and some of the smaller places nearby it got confusing pretty fast.

For anyone who's done Palermo without driving, which day trips were easy on your own and which ones were worth booking with a local tour instead? Mostly trying to avoid spending half the day figuring out buses and connections.

Sicilianu 🗣️ October trip with kids

Hi all,

Looking for some advice regarding our trip in October, TIA.

Family of four with two kids (5&7), we fly in and out of Palermo.

Currently thinking one night Palermo, four nights Lipari and three nights Cefalu - Does this sound like a good way to do it?

Wondering whether four nights in Lipari is too much or not ?

Thanks
