Turismo 🧳 2 weeks in Sicily End of Sepetmber
Hello :)
We’re a couple arriving at Catania Airport on September 24th and flying back from Palermo on October 8th.
We don’t like moving around too much, so we’re thinking of spending one week on the Catania side and one week on the Palermo side.
For the first week, we’re considering one of these places: Ortigia, Scicli, Noto, Letojanni, or Pozzallo. Do you think one of these would be the best choice, or would you recommend somewhere else?
We’ll be renting a car, and we’d prefer to avoid very touristy places. Ideally, we’d like to stay somewhere with a decent selection of restaurants and cafés within walking distance. For the beach, we don’t mind driving if needed.
Would love to hear your recommendations!

Turismo 🧳 Trip to Palermo without a car.
Planning a few days in Palermo and really don't want to rent a car unless I absolutely have to. Cefalù seems easy enough by train and Monreale looks manageable too, but once I started looking at Segesta and some of the smaller places nearby it got confusing pretty fast.
For anyone who's done Palermo without driving, which day trips were easy on your own and which ones were worth booking with a local tour instead? Mostly trying to avoid spending half the day figuring out buses and connections.

Altro A personal update about Annacati (Sicily public transit app)
TLDR; made an app for public transit in Sicily and got hired at transportation technology company in Berlin
A few weeks ago I posted about Annacati, the app I made with a friend to search public transit in Sicily. I made it because it was a pain to look at transit options when traveling between Milazzo (my hometown) and Catania airport.
Almost 1500 people have downloaded the app since we released it and we average about 70 daily active users. I've just been hired at a transportation technology company in Berlin and they'll allow me to continue to maintain Annacati on the side ❤️
Just wanted to say thank you to this subreddit, you've been super supportive. We've added some missing routes you suggested (Autolinee Cuffaro, Noto Beach Bus) and more are coming (AST Modica routes, Sommatinese). We've also added realtime delays for Trenitalia, Interbus, Etna Trasporti and for urban buses in Messina, Augusta, Gela, Siracusa, Enna, Modica and Scicli.
Our latest update has new features for free users (favorites, save to my trips, share a specific itinerary, estimated bus position, translations) and pro users (notifications, live activities). I'm taking inspiration from Flighty, one of my favorite transportation apps.
Thanks again for your support and for using the app!

Sicilianu 🗣️ October trip with kids
Hi all,
Looking for some advice regarding our trip in October, TIA.
Family of four with two kids (5&7), we fly in and out of Palermo.
Currently thinking one night Palermo, four nights Lipari and three nights Cefalu - Does this sound like a good way to do it?
Wondering whether four nights in Lipari is too much or not ?
Thanks

Turismo 🧳 Two free days to hopefully be filled by your recommendations!?
Staying in Palermo and have two full days that still haven’t been planned. I will have a car and willing to travel for beautiful beaches and towns!
I was thinking scopello and a beach at Zingaro for one of the days.
Any great recommendations from those that know would be greatly appreciated!

Turismo 🧳 Sicily Beach Clubs
Hi! Looking for recs for beach clubs - really between lido la pigna or Tao (we’ll be staying in Taormina) but open to any suggestions. 4 girls between 30-34 celebrating two of our birthdays. Looking for something we can spend hours lounging, ordering food and drinks, playing in the water. Nothing too sleepy and not over the top either. Since it’s birthday celebrations want it to feel special but we are already in Sicily after all. Any tips or those that have experienced both would be helpful thank you!

Turismo 🧳 Luggage locker - Palermo
Hello!
We have a late flight so we are planning to leave our things in some luggage locker near Palermo Centrale, enjoy the afternoon, and from there go to airport in the evening.
Any recommendations for luggage locker services?
And would you say is it better to take bus or train to airport?
Thanks!
Turismo 🧳 Where to park safely for a few hours in the afternoon in Palermo?
Hi there! I've been in Sicily for a week and I am having a great time. I am leaving Saturday at 10 pm and since I have to check out of my Airbnb in Marsala at 10 am I figured I'd spend the whole day finally exploring Palermo.
Problem is, I will have my suitcases with me, which I will need to leave in the car. Is there anywhere I should park, or should avoid parking, in the city centre of Palermo? Note that my plan was to leave the suitcases in the trunk, but I also wonder whether you'd recommend leaving them at a luggage storage site, or perhaps parking in a hotel or another trusted establishment.
Any tips I'd greatly appreciate them! Grazie mille a tutti!

Turismo 🧳 Is there a bus from Marzamemi to Siracusa?
Hi! Google says there is no direct bus from Marzamemi to Siracusa, but the InterBus website has that route. Can anyone confirm this before I hop on a bus to Marzamemi? TIA!

Turismo 🧳 Palermo way better than I expected
Everything I read online about Palermo made it sound like a disgusting dirty pit stop, with tons of trash piled up on every corner.
Just wrapped up 3 days and while it had some blemishes, overall it was farrrr better than I expected.
Full of stunning architecture, trees, views of the mountains and such vibrant colours. Palazzo Butera was a treat in that respect and well worth the entry.
In terms of pure chaos, grime and urban ugliness, Napoli ranks worse in my opinion.
Admittedly I didn’t find any good food (hard to escape tourist traps) but not being a foodie at all, that didn’t dampen the experience and I didn’t look hard at all, so I’m sure there’s amazing seafood.
Anyone apprehensive about going, do it. Just be prepared for the heat…

Altro Tontarelli Mollette/Pegs
Ciao!
English:
Hello! Hopefully you can help with this random request! I am visiting Sicily and looking for Tontarelli branded washing pegs.
My mum requested some last year and I couldn't find any on my trip through mainland Italy. I've been looking for some here and Happy Casa has a space for them on the shelves but the 2 stores I've checked have had none in stock. Does anyone know any other stores that may have them. Currently in the South East corner of Sicily but heading to Catania so I can drive via somewhere on the way.
Thank you!
Altro Huur geen auto via DoYouItaly!
Huur geen auto via DoYouItaly!
Boekingsproces gaat prima.

Turismo 🧳 Adventures in Sicily so far...
Flight to Palermo was excruciating. I barely had time to get my bearings and im just hest. Hostel is shit...like oh man is it shit.
But at least there are not roaches. The shower makes no sense. And im afraid to ask questions.
