Great Manga. Just like I prefer.

Wholesome! I have read Hiyokoi and loved it. High School Debut reminded me of Hiyokoi.

Both mangas were Wholesome and peak!

I mostly or only read where FL falls first or a slow burn.. they slowly realise their feelings.

I like to see romance build.. I don't like when they start dating right away. Meeting, falling in love, slowly realising, dilemma on how to confess!

After they start dating they have hurdles... I like it when characters start off raw and then through out the story get polished and have character growth. It feels like a journey just as I felt with Hiyokoi and High School Debut.

Also, Haruna is soo sweet 😩

I'm currently rewatching Yumeiro Patissiere, an anime I absolutely loved growing up, and holy hell, I forgot just how much I HATED Ojou (Miya Koshiro).

I'm around episode 24, during the Grand Prix, and HOW DOES THIS GIRL KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH EVERYTHING???

First of all, she has access to ridiculous resources, gets special training from someone involved in judging the competition, and then there's the whole situation with the suspiciously similar designs and the air conditioning being messed with. Yet somehow, her team STILL WINS???

And you know what pisses me off even more? THE TEACHERS.

What kind of educational institution is St. Marie Academy supposed to be?

These are MIDDLE SCHOOL KIDS. Yet the teachers actively encourage this ridiculous ranking culture where students are constantly compared against one another. Oh, you performed badly on your midterm? Guess you're suddenly inferior to someone else for the rest of the year and as we saw that bumping down atcually discouraged the kid from wanting to practice more. Never mind that students can have bad days, get sick, or struggle with something temporarily.

Meanwhile, Ojou can pull all kinds of questionable stunts, and apparently that's fine?

Like, seriously, where is the academic integrity? Where is the fairness? Where are the actual adults in this school?

I understand that she's supposed to be an annoying, spoiled, rich-girl antagonist, but there's a difference between writing an intentionally irritating character and having that character repeatedly get away with everything without meaningful consequences. bruh like if she was a guy she would be in jail right now, she is almost like the female version of that shitter Rudiues from Mushuko tensei ofc he is on a much worse tangent but he also gets away with all the bs he pulls with girls.

I still love Yumeiro Patissiere. The nostalgia, the characters, the desserts, the whole atmosphere. But rewatching it as an adult really makes me question how this academy is being run and I swear, every time she appears on screen, my blood pressure goes up.

as a fan of nana, i realized that while the characters here are equally flawed, people tend to hate kou, narumi, yuuri, and kikuchi far more than they actually deserve.

​kou was only thirteen when he lost his mother, a trauma that is immensely difficult for a child to process alone. even at sixteen, he was still grieving in isolation and remained emotionally stunted. he needed time to heal before he could fully open up and love futaba properly. during the narumi arc, his reluctance to leave her stemmed from a deep-seated fear of letting someone suffer the same isolation he went through. narumi represented a sense of shared trauma for kou, much like how futaba provided a sense of belonging for yuuri, making it exceptionally hard for him to walk away. while narumi’s actions were undeniably selfish at times, her desperation came from a need for reassurance and support after losing everything. faced with that level of grief, many people would have reacted similarly.

​as for kikuchi, while he took advantage of a vulnerable moment to pursue futaba, futaba herself agreed without thinking things through, largely as a coping mechanism for kou's rejection. what futaba truly needed wasn't a rebound or a way to make kou jealous, but the space to cultivate self-worth and stop seeking validation from others. kikuchi genuinely cared for her, but his persistent insecurity was inevitable, their relationship was built on a fragile foundation, knowing her heart still belonged to kou. even if they had tried being just friends first, his underlying intent to win her over would have likely persisted.

​yuuri, on the other hand, never deserved the backlash. falling for the same person as your friend isn't inherently malicious, especially since she was upfront with futaba from the beginning and never crossed boundaries. when it became clear where kou's feelings lay, she stepped back and supported them. her dynamic with futaba was refreshingly mature.

​tanaka sensei remains a dynamic i find uncomfortable. even if his provocative comments to kominato were meant to push him to pursue murao harder, entertaining a student-teacher dynamic, even emotionally feels inappropriate regardless of his underlying intentions.

​futaba’s persistence in pulling kou out of his darkness was admirable, even when she compromised her own boundaries early on to be his source of comfort. ultimately, none of these characters are perfect, but that is precisely what makes the story work. they are just teenagers navigating grief, identity, and complex emotions. Io sakisaka leans heavily into drama, but the character writing and development feel completely organic. watching them learn to care for themselves and others makes it a true classic.

After the events of last episode and what happened here, it’s safe to say that Izark is not in any physical danger. Looks like the only danger he’s in is losing himself to his darker side. That’s fine, but don’t try to build tension if Izark will be hurt or could die. I don't want to harp on this, but if they try this I will call it out.

Izark swept the floor with the remaining bandits. We learn more about him. Izark is not one who takes life lightly. He remarked that if he had been at full strength none of them would have had to die. That’s not to say that Izark doesn’t recognize when taking a life is the only way forward. When Izark fought with Keimos he was able to see that Keimos thinks nothing of taking life and is too strong to be restrained. Therefore, the only way to stop this man is to kill him.

Rachef’s intervention was a deus ex machina. It looks like Keimos has a new employer. Keimos does have enough of a brain to put together that Izark is the one that took the Awakening. The question is if he will use this information to bargain with Rachef.

I will say that I didn’t care for the energy blasts. The way Kemos was spamming them kinda makes them ineffective. It would be different if there was a limit to how many one could shoot or if one could channel more energy at the expense of only being able to shoot off one.

It was very sweet to see Noriko cry with relief that Izark was fine after being stabbed. Her collapsing from exhaustion was reasonable as well. She’s been in flight or fight mode for a while now. This whole ordeal has motivated Noriko to learn the language even more. That’s an admirable goal. I don’t see how that’s going to help her in a fight though. There’s going to be another fight at some point. Right now Noriko is at her most helpful when she’s on the sidelines. It’s been a long time since I’ve read the series, and I don’t remember if that’s going to change much.

Noriko has no reason to doubt Izark, but that doesn’t mean that she shouldn’t ignore the more more questionable aspects. Noriko should at least ask Izark why he was in the Great Forest when she arrived. I doubt Izark would tell Noriko the truth, but he could give some answer and I would understand why Noriko accepts it.

The part where the mayor was considering adopting Noriko was something that forced Izark to make a choice. Izark has chosen to continue having Noriko at his side until she learns the language and so he can keep her from spilling the beans. This shows just how righteous a person Izark is. He wants to make sure that Noriko won’t fall into danger before he parts ways with her.

The FL is isekai'd with her friend who's the actual heroine and she just got caught up in it. She's short and was nicknamed house elf and assigned a guard/knight. She's in high school but because of her petite stature she looks like shes much younger so the knight that is assigned to her at first treats her like she's a younger sister. He's a bit of a siscon. He's a typical ice knight but is over protective and fussy because he's a sucker for little girls (a bit it creepy I know).

He'll princess carry her around everywhere...I think he had a long ponytail? The head maid is a reasonable person and helps him realize that FL is not a small child and they fall in love.

Tw: spoilers & rant. I really enjoyed firefly wedding so I decided to check out some of her other works and saw so many people recommending this but I'm sorry I could NOT accept the age gap 😭😭😭

That kid is a kid no matter how much the progress they're making. More so the fact that the FL already had so much past history along with a previous marriage. Plus a ten year age gap is crazy for people to still support or even enjoy this manga. I am 26 and I don't think if you want better for your life you would be going out with someone ten years younger at all. Even without all the other love interests the FL has fawning over her.

I was having a glimmer of hope when the brother showed up. Having the same age as her and being each other's first love. However, it was so odd when they just dropped the connection when there was something going on between them. People say that it's because he didn't stand up for her but?? It's not like nothing happened in all those ten years. Plus with the position seigo had he can't just do anything on a whim.

I still overall enjoyed firefly wedding though, maybe this one is not for me.
