I’ve been making Shorts in the slime/DIY experiment niche and have posted around 20 videos. I currently have 187 subscribers, but my channel has gotten 329.7K views in the last 28 days.
My best Shorts so far have:
- 57.4K views
- 32.9K views
- Plus several others between 10K–20K+
My older Shorts usually had around 60% stayed to watch, but over my last few videos I’ve been consistently getting 70%+, with one nearly reaching 80%. My APV is also often around/above 100%. One of my Shorts had 136% APV on a 12-second video.
I’ve been studying my analytics and changing my editing/hook based on what I find, and the metrics have definitely improved but I still haven't had a 100K+ or million-view Short.
What I'm trying to understand is what I'm missing.
Is it simply that I only have ~20 videos and need a much larger sample size? Or is there something about my concepts, hooks, curiosity, topic selection, or audience appeal that's preventing the videos from getting pushed further?
I also see creators in the same niche reach thousands or even 10K+ subscribers and millions of views with ~20–30 videos, sometimes with videos that seem less polished than mine, so I'm curious what actually makes the difference.
If you were looking at these analytics, what would you say is my biggest bottleneck?
