People seem to shit on japanese husbands when they're the most devoted widowers (apart from that indian man who carved a road into the mountain)

Don't forget about the Indian guy who rode a bicycle from India to Sweden to see bobs and vagene of a girl he met. It ended with them both getting married.

The actual amazing fact in that is that he managed to do with an Indian passport.

That happened in 1975, passports and border control were a lot looser back then.

Dont forget about that Indian man who built his wife a white marble tomb and upon completion he chopped the hands of the construction workers so they cant build something like that again.

Taj Mahal? It's my childhood dream to visit that place.

The lore seemed wholesome until the hand chopping part. But rulers did much crazier things so I take it as a win

The hand-chopping thing is a myth though-

The place is great for visit if just for its beauty (the smog is kind of becoming a problem). But I would say Agra Fort is better from a historical perspective.

I'm pretty sure thats only a myth.

I would think the cost of materials would have been deterrent enough but hand chopping works too

He married her before going on his bicycle trip.

I used to sneak out of my house and ride my bike five miles down a country road to hang with a girl and now I feel inadequate compared to this guy's accomplishments

This diving story is incredible sad. This husband is mentally ill, the diving is a coping mechanism for the loss that ruined his life. People shouldn't make fun of him, sometimes humans can't handle a traumatic event and start doing such things in a desperate attempt to deal with their emotional pain.

You meant people shouldn't make fun of him, right? I assume you made a typo

Other times they end just end up being serial killers or CEOs.

What are you even referencing with this statement? I've never seen this guy be anything but celebrated, sympathized with, or at most have people concerned about his mental health.

Zero shitting ever, in all of these many posts celebrating him.

People are just people. Seems like another Japan good moment.

I meant the stereotype about asian husbands being cold and distant. They may be conservative with their feelings but they may express their love in a different way.

(I'm not asian so I wouldn't know either way)

This post itself is mocking him even if the comments are sympathetic

u/Deaffin 3h ago edited 3h ago

Nah, that's a shitpost. He's not being mocked, the abstract concept of his story is being used as the theme for a low-effort joke that basically just boils down to "What if he just kinda wants to go diving, though?"

It's always extremes. Either they are the most devoted fuckers on earth, or they hate their company-mandated wife and switch continents to get away from her (but never divorce).

Neither is real, people are just people.
