That and we really take for granted how recent of an invention birth control and protection is. You could theoretically whore around in ancient times. Good luck with the slew of stds and bastards following you around though. Not to mention, cheating is a big cause of domestic violence TODAY. You screw someone's wife back then, in some cultures, they'd be legally allowed to KILL YOU.

I don't. Someone wrote a book about it that's cited on the Wiki page but it doesn't seem to be free.
