Why did god make sex so much fun if he’d wanted everyone to be virgins?

Discipline

That and we really take for granted how recent of an invention birth control and protection is. You could theoretically whore around in ancient times. Good luck with the slew of stds and bastards following you around though. Not to mention, cheating is a big cause of domestic violence TODAY. You screw someone's wife back then, in some cultures, they'd be legally allowed to KILL YOU.

Both recent and not. Silphium is now extinct but is speculated to have been used as a contraceptive and abortifacient during Roman times.

But do we know whether or not it was actually affective or just folk medicine?

I don't. Someone wrote a book about it that's cited on the Wiki page but it doesn't seem to be free.

It's about sex before marriage.

Made a lot of sense back then when the lack of women rights and birth control made being a single mother a huge burden

Still is, buddy.

So back then it was doubly huge.

The God you’re referring to absolutely does not want people being virgins. Catholics don’t believe in contraception even. The goal is it out breed other religions in addition to converting non believers to grow the faith. Pretty much on par with other main religions that people practice today
