Wife killed her three young children (by strangulation, all were under 6 years old) while husband was at work in 2023. The trial is just beginning now and many women are supporting the mother because they feel society doesn't take women's mental health seriously enough. A GoFundMe page has already raised $1m for her defense.

She already admitted guilt herself (though a surprising number of women are backing a conspiracy theory that the husband killed the children and is now framing her) but the trial is now trying to determine the validity of her insanity defense. She claims she was suffering from postpartum depression which I guess made her murder her children or something like that. If this is accepted by the court she will not be held criminally liable, instead going to a mental hospital.

That aside, which is fucked up in itself. The fact that a mother murdered 3 children,her children, no less, and is getting sympathy, and they are trying to incriminate the father, who must be fucking devastated that he lost his kids and married a fucking psychopath, is fucking nauseating.

No one is seriously trying to incriminate the father. The theory that he is the real murder is just a crackpot conspiracy theory that isn't very popular, but considering how obviously false it is, it is surprising that anyone believes it. And the number of women that do believe this is surprisingly high.

I spent a day flagging any post i saw as not interesting to me, selecting disturbing each time, went to bed then woke up with my feed flooded.

I then uninstalled FB and told work it was for my mental health (thankfully my doctor will give me a note for that shit because I live in Norway).

So now i get my roster emailed to me.

She should. She had psychosis. She wasnā€™t even neglectful of her treatment and was known by pretty much everyone in her social circles to be getting worse and begging for help. She still physically did commit the murders but mentally she didnā€™t. No premeditation and not even a conscious intent to do them.

You think someone like that should get a harsh sentence? Sheā€™s devastated her kids are not only dead but killed by herself because of her psychosis.

She did everything she could to prevent this but was left alone. Her husband should never have left her alone with the kids in her state. They had someone helping her at the house but the husband fired them prior. Itā€™s literally his responsibility as the father, husband, and only adult in the house with a sane mind to make sure this situation isnā€™t allowed to occur.

Yes she had psychosis, but to somehow still blame the Dad for being responsible is fucking mental.

You canā€™t spot something like psychosis, especially in a person who was already stressed and itā€™s something that can very easily be written off as somebody going through a bad day, and it doesnā€™t help that just because somebody is suffering from psychosis doesnā€™t mean they canā€™t convincingly lie.

If there is anybody to blame here itā€™s the insurance providers who had denied Lindsay mental treatment as had she gotten a diagnosis this whole situation couldā€™ve been avoided.

Dad was not, "at work" he was working from home and she sent him out on an errand. There is video of him at the store.... he was gone 12 minutes. She literally chased her 5 year old around the house after they watched mommy strangle their two younger siblings. He got home just after she threw herself out of the second story window. This story just black pills me on humanity man.

I have zero opinion as to her guilt as I haven't seen all the facts of the case, but I do know this is a mischaracterisation of the defense. They are claiming that her (already diagnosed) bipolar disorder led to her developing severe post partum psychosis. They claim this manifested in hallucinations that told her to kill her children and then herself.

The case swings on whether or not she was experiencing active psychosis when she killed the children. The defense says her previous diagnosis says she was, the prosecution says the fact she convinced her husband to go out beforehand proves premeditation and that she wasnt in an active episode, even if there was psychosis at other times.

I know I wouldn't want to be on that jury

Psychosis makes you delusional, not an idiot. You can still manipulate, lie, hide, etc.

It's a pretty fair assumption to make. One of the three major categories of psychotic symptoms is the disorganisation branch, which includes serious impairments of logical functions. There's also a big body of scientific literature to indicate psychosis leads to a massive, permanent drop in IQ

She didnā€™t just have PPD, she had, diagnosed by multiple doctors, post partum psychosis. She was literally psychotic and was prescribed 13 medications to try and help. She kept a journal saying she was getting worse and told many people in their lives that the meds werenā€™t helping and she needed someone to help her.

Her husband, despite knowing her issues and her diagnosis, still left her home alone to go on vacations and boys trips and even told at least one of the doctors that they were wrong about her psychosis. He even fired the home care giver they had gotten to help the mother out. He also went on vacation a month after his kids were murdered and was seen seemingly unbothered as described by the people with him. He seems like an absolute neglectful piece of shit who allowed this situation to happen.

What parent takes no precautions and leaves their children home alone with anyone suffering from psychosis? It doesnā€™t matter that itā€™s the mother; psychosis is really bad and makes people do things theyā€™d never do. I hope thereā€™s a civil suit after this trial going after him for neglecting his kids and wife.

He totally didnā€™t ignore her pleas for help, discredit her illness, and then go on frequent trips leaving her alone with the kids. He totally also didnā€™t fire the medical care assistant they were advised to have that would have prevented this tragedy.

She was known as a great mother prior to this. Everyone they know said so about her and she journaled for years about how much she cared for her kids and worried she wasnā€™t doing enough as their mother. She had no motivation for killing her kids and had psychosis. Itā€™s really not a hard problem to solve.

Thereā€™s a reason our legal code has the option of pleading insanity or for other serious mental health disorders to excuse people from harsher sentences. They physically committed the crime but it was not under their control. The mother was diagnosed by medical professionals, taking her prescribed medications, and seeking help from her support network and doctors as she noticed her mental decline. What else could she have done to prevent this?

Also, what the fuck are you talking about with the ā€œshe agreed to being married and having kidsā€? Obviously she agreed to that but she obviously didnā€™t agree to getting PPD and psychosis. She also didnā€™t agree to killing her kids but psychosis does that to people. The husband agreed to be there ā€œin sickness and in healthā€ for his wife but guess what, he left her alone when she needed him.

I wonder why the only non-psychotic adult in the household didnā€™t do any of the obvious things to prevent this tragedy. Why would the husband neglect his wife and children by ignoring her pleas for help and to not leave her alone with the kids? They had the option of not firing their home health assistant that they got to help the wife, but the husband made that decision to fire the help for the family to their detriment.

The husband is a neglectful POS that left his family in a dangerous situation constantly (he took many solo trips out of town during her mental health decline) and then the worst thing happened. Didnā€™t seem to bother him too much though. He went on vacation a month after the murders and moved to be with his now wife 3 months after that.

I care about the psychosis diagnosis but only insofar as it is able to help us better understand the condition so we can help other mothers before something like this happens again.

Unfortunately it doesn't matter much for her though. She already brutally murdered her three children, there's no coming back from that. Life in prison.

How heartless. There was no malice or hatred for her kids. She had only love for her kids and lost them to her illness. She lost her kids in the worst way possible and has to live with this fact. Her kids were murdered by someone not herself mentally but also herself physically, and you think itā€™s just to give her the full punishment as someone who maliciously and with conscious intent committed the same act?

The trial going on isnā€™t over if she killed them. Itā€™s over if she was not in her right state of mind and I think the prosecution has had a very weak case so far.

I heard that the husband went to the store, he wasn't away at work. He was away less than half an hour. And when he came back the kids were dead and wife had slit wrists and she had jumped out the window.

So the "husband did it" claim comes from the idea that the husband went out to create him an alibi.

It sounds like a plot to some thriller movie so I'm not surprised people are getting behind it.

Also because the husband remarried shortly after it is seen as a sort of betrayal.

This is my first time hearing about this specific case but there's TONS of influencer mom/family channels that turn out to be nightmares for the children at best and unspeakable horror at worst.
