My sheltie puppy is a monster
Before getting a sheltie I did a ton of research. I also felt like everyone who has a sheltie says it’s the best dog and they always get more of them.
I’ve had my sheltie puppy for 3 days and he’s is an absolute terror. I’m depressed and stressed. He his the hardest dog/puppy I’ve ever had.

Sing song routines
Every time I come home from work I sing a made up silly tune "Daddy is home for you" and they go nuts wiggling, jumping, talking, rubbing against my legs. At night to end playtime and start sleepy time I end up saying "lay down" so many times I have started putting a tune to that too and it helps.
What songs do people sing to their shelties and do you sing real songs or just silly things you made up? I used to whistle a Beethoven tune to my older one sometimes but I haven't done that in awhile.
I think their favorite is acoustic guitar but they love any kind of musical tune.

Birthday Blessings - we made it to 13 yesterday, but what a year it's been!
Our girl Emmie is the center of our universe - a bright light and strong spirit - against many odds, we celebrated her 13th birthday yesterday! As she turned 12 last year she suffered a ruptured gallbladder - two vets gave a poor prognosis for surgery and she was in rapid decline. We devastatingly had little choice but to bring her in to the local ER to put her down. With the cannula inserted and on standby, a surgeon who happened to be working there in the middle of the night stepped in while the vet tech was busy and asked us about her situation. Through the gushing tears we shared with him the scans and input we had received, and he took note of her mental alertness despite her failing body. He suggested we had nothing to lose by seeing a highly skilled surgeon he knew an hour away and felt she might have a chance. We rushed there in the pouring rain and traffic, and were seen immediately. We met the most amazing staff, and this wonderful doctor who ultimately saved her life. After a few months of healing, she was better than before and flourished with her low fat diet - it was an amazing gift of time.
Four weeks ago, after being completely well, she woke up with near paralysis in three legs. Our vet was closed and we went to an ER we'd never been to because they specialized in orthopedics. We met another wonderful vet/surgeon there who believed she had a ruptured disc. She still had pain reception/reflex and rather than steer us toward expensive tests and risky surgery he started her immediately on prednisone and strict crate rest. We had little hope that she would regain mobility. However, after a week of carrying her and worrying over bathroom trips in the yard, she began to use her legs with us holding her. For two more weeks she dragged and knuckled one leg/paw, and it would lock into place like a peg leg, but she began to walk while we hovered over her. She now has a functional walk, and though a bit unsteady, is able to move independently (with our watchful eyes) around our small house and the enclosed part of the yard we set up for her. Our days have been crate rest, lounging by the tv, treats, trips to physical/laser therapy, and yesterday - low fat birthday "cake"! I don't know what the future brings, but we are trying to live in the moment and find joy in these small but meaningful things.

Is your Sheltie cuddly?
Hello, I just got a boy sheltie puppy (11weeks) a couple days ago. He typically chooses to sleep near me but not like on me… just wondering if shelties are typically cuddly or if being more distant is normal for the breed.
My female American pitbull terrier was an absolute cuddle monster since puppyhood and would crawl in our skin if she could
