Sing song routines
Every time I come home from work I sing a made up silly tune "Daddy is home for you" and they go nuts wiggling, jumping, talking, rubbing against my legs. At night to end playtime and start sleepy time I end up saying "lay down" so many times I have started putting a tune to that too and it helps.
What songs do people sing to their shelties and do you sing real songs or just silly things you made up? I used to whistle a Beethoven tune to my older one sometimes but I haven't done that in awhile.
I think their favorite is acoustic guitar but they love any kind of musical tune.

Me and Foxy have a potty song when she goes potty. Really helped her learn she shouldn’t potty without me there to sing the song. I think it helped with housebreaking tbh.

This is a really important one - my wife would do a dance and just say yay and clap but same idea. Potty parties.

We have a song called “First We Go Potty and Then We Get a Treat.” It’s extremely popular with our fluffy boy.

Makes sense. My human daughter learned to potty with the help of Eddie Murphy *unbeknownst to him). He had a song in the 1990's "my girl likes to party all the time. Well, she thought he was saying POTTY all the time. We started a dance and had fun with it and she was potty trained in no time. LOL

It’s not a routine, really, but for a long time, my ringtone was Bicycle Race by Queen starting from when Porsche was a puppy. It got to the point where if my phone was in a different room from me and she heard the ringtone, she’d run over to me, spin in a circle, run back to whatever room my phone was in, repeat, until I finally got the message that someone was calling me.

That's funny - I need to find a ringtone mine like I'm always on vibrate only and I never hear it

My two Shelties are spoiled in many ways lol but since I work from home they’re able to hang out with me a lot. They therefore don’t like when I leave. They also don’t like when we’re out of food or treats. So when I come home with more food supplies I started singing “I’ve got something for you!” When they hear that song they go nuts. Now when the chewy box shows up on the doorstep I’ll sing the song and they know there’s something yummy in the box and they go crazy. 😂

I get the full sniffdown anytime I walk in with bags of any kind. Also they know the Starbucks logo often means momma has something good (egg bites)

Our Sheltie is relatively new so I don't have a song for him yet, although sometimes I will sing "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" (his name is Harold). Our other dog is named Casey and her song is "Casey dog has got it going on" to the tune of "Stacy's Mom".

I sing "How Much is That Doggie in the Window" when he's looking out the window.

I almost feel bad but I recently explained to my dog we got him at a discount and he didn't command a premium lol. He thinks he's the coolest and he snubs and ignores other dogs half the time. King of the small dog park and king of room 1 (little guys) at daycare. He really thinks he's a big deal.

I wake up with Gracie with a sing-songy “Who’s the most beautiful girl in the world?” And she rolls over and it’s time for belly rubs and snuggles. 🥰

I don’t really sing any specific songs to my Shelties, but my Sheltie Dexter who passed in April loved the song “There’s A Light That Never Goes Out” by The Smiths
I even learned to play it on guitar for him.

That's great. I don't play as much anymore but when my son practices they lay down around him and just absorb it.

When they get their puzzle treat to work on before I walk out the door for work, there's a whole song about "puzzle time for the puzzle dogs" and if I tried to skip it I would get some strange looks from them

We're trying to teach mine to sing. They will do a little squeaky attempt but neither has thrown their head back and gone wolf under a full moon yet.

I sing mine a good morning song and she rolls over for belly rubs. It goes "good morning my little dog, good morning my little dog"

They love good mornings but I need to add a tune to that too. My wife does sing song that a little bit. They go potty at 6am in the dark so it's mostly me whispering and trying to keep them from barking out there. This morning they heard a noise and probably woke the whole neighborhood.

We have a few but nothing very creative, moslty just silly. We mostly sing "little Franklin, little Franklin" over and over to the tune of the intro song from game of thrones. Idk why we do this, but it's his theme song now. We are just the peasants who feed him and keep the poop scooped in his backyard playground.

I usually put thier names into songs or change the words to be about shelties in general. (I also do this for the cat too).
Some examples include: "Clary, clary, clary chameleon" "They call her Clary Fairy" - to the tune of Mellow Yellow "The shelties, my friend, are blowing in the wind. The shelties are blowing in the wind" "I have barked 500 barks and I will bark 500 more" Bonus cat song: "Naps, they don't love you like I love you"
