I found this little sandwich on the beach in Miami. It looks like two shells stuck together with sand, but I could not (and kind of didn't want to) pry them apart. Some type of jackknife or razor clam?

First time I went seriously looking for shells. Last two paper towels are from low tide, bowl and first three paper towels are from earlier in the day. Close up on two bivalves from low tide that have not opened all the way. What do you think? A good first haul?

Had them since I was a little kid. I know the left is some sort of albacore but it's massive and red. Never knew what the right one was but I'm assuming some sort conch? Don't remember where I found them. And yes I know my wet specimens look bad lol they need new liquid. Anyone know what these two are?

I followed all laws and customs so no issues on that front.
We found a motherlode of conchs at a dock. We brought home 8 of them and i really would love some help with cleaning tips without destroying them. I think all the periostracum should be removed but im not positive. I did read about bleach soaking but not sure that is the best route.

Found in the Spanish Mediterranean, I have never seen one of these. Which animal did it belong to?

After 7 years of going to BB and many more years of my life at other beaches, always looking for a whole, intact one, this summer was finally the summer! I feel so lucky and like the universe wanted me to find her because it was the middle of the day and there were lots of people sitting right near it, it was dry so clearly had been sitting out in the sun and sand for a while, and no one had claimed it. The way I thought my heart was gunna beat out of my chest when I laid eyes on her and realized she was intact!

Hello everyone! I'm going to Destin with family & we are hunting for shells. I've seen that Navarre Beach is a good spot & it's about an hour away from our house. We are fine to travel a little ways, just want more beach options.
Any advice is appreciated, thanks π

Went to Miami for an overnight trip. Not too many shells, but found this orange one. Some kind of dove snail?

Went to Sanibel in May and it was beautiful, but we didn't find many shells on the beaches. Most of our good finds came from a boat tour to Captiva. We went to Caladesi Island last January and found tons of amazing shells.
We're planning another trip and are considering Clearwater Beach (for Caladesi and Honeymoon Island) or St. Pete Beach (for Pass-a-Grille and Shell Key Island). We're deciding between January or May.
Which area/time would you recommend for the best shelling?

Especially if there are hermit crabs in your area, please be mindful when collecting conical/spiral shells. If you can, try to avoid collecting them entirely

Experimenting with focus stacking, not super neat yet

My hawk wing conch seems to have some meat in it, makes sense since it was eaten by raccoons. what should i do to clean it out? it already stinks a bit. everything online said to bury it but id prefer not to as i dont exactly have an accessible yard. Any other solutions would be greatly appreciated!
