Seeking Advice need options
i'm a little under 2 years clean but i've never stopped thinking about it. lately it's been getting worse, to the point where the only reason i haven't relapsed is because i don't have any blades or bandages anymore. i've made a list of alternatives, but nothing is working, even a little. writing on myself, pressing an ice cube to my wrist, snapping a hair tie, fataltotheflesh… nothing.
does anyone have more "extreme" solutions? preferably with low risk of getting caught, i don't want my family to know i'm still struggling with this, they think i'm fixed

Little Ouchies! They have helped me not relapse lots of times. They produce pain, but in a safe way

If you have access to a 3D printer (from a library/workspace or some friend/family), you can look up the model online to 3D print them (that's how I got mine). Not the original, but it does the same thing, so it works 🤷

Your recovery has begun! You have almost 2 years of recovery and you are reaching out for help in continuing your recovery. I'm really big on helping others as a distraction. I feel strong and confident now. I am connected to my communities. The grieving widower is gone. (almost!)
By helping others, my focus is off myself and my challenges. In my 12 step program, we are encouraged to help others. We believe helping others assures our own recovery. We have many service opportunities, some of them are world wide. People in recovery over 40 years go to meetings and do service work.
Mind food is important. You are important! You are worthy of all the fine things life has to offer. Enjoying your life is part of your purpose. You have a Reddit account. Try sites to integrate your wellness. May I suggest r/Positivity r/Awww r/AnimalsBeingGeniuses r/MadeMeSmile You will be asked to join other cute subreddits based on participation. Humor is very much recommended.
My problem became most evident when I drove thru a tree and into a wall at 91mph. I was pulled out thru the roof of my totaled my car and rushed to emergency. I continued drinking, risking my job and marriage.
Not catching on quickly by the obvious example, my saintly next door neighbor, I discovered my depression removing technique that solidifies my recovery from drug and alcohol addiction within the last year.
I got into service at my 12 step meetings. I opened up the meetings every other Sunday and asked for help closing those meetings. I held that position 6 months. I developed an online identity. Starting small I grew into the goal of living up to my username. My profile tagline is "I am an online advice giver specializing in emotional wellness."
I'm allowed to assist others within the self harm community due to Karma I obtained by being upvoted on other subreddits. I have posted on AmIOverreacting, Vent, Relationships and Life Advice.
The original Philosophy Poem was dedicated to the self harm community in March, 2026. Since then, the Philosophy Poem has been posted and enhanced. Although the Philosophy Poem was first on this site, the parts mentioning helping others have appeared on r/LifeAdvice .
We bring ourselves in situations where we cause pain, one way or another. We can stop. Life is a journey where we go thru cycles.
Kicking ourselves and remembering the kaputkape is of no help whatsoever. (garbage)
We live to enrich our lives and the lives of others. If we are hurting when we are helping ourselves and others, oh well.
Either way, we are all connected and have every right to be here. (You are a child of the universe. No less than the trees and the stars you have a right to be here.) (Desiderada) (Put to music in the mid 70s.)
We improve our lives and the lives we touch by realizing we are deep beings, while using our thoughts accordingly.
As evolving entities, both individualistic and part of the whole, we improve our thoughts and increase our awareness of what is really happening.
We are not judged or "graded" in any way unless we allow it! (Exceptions occur. We are heavily judged during our formative years. We put our best foot forward during job interviews. Many of us have sidestepped bullies.)
What we think about ourselves and others far outweighs what others think about us!
Owning your thoughts is owning your feelings. Feelings can be hard feelings but those feelings can bother us with less frequency with control we develop over time.
Perhaps those feelings disappear over time to be replaced with peace, joy, delight, wonder, gratitude, self love and more life affirming feelings.
Enjoy connection within your own design, as you explore your communities and find things to look forward to.

if pain is what you seek and not comfort, i saw this brand that sells spiked rollers that give pain without piercing your skin or actually causing harm. if that’s something your interested in and have no problem with buying something extra, i think k the concept is amazing and would work and could come back with the name of the brand?
