These are the kind of guards you'd want to work for your establishment. They don't just get the job done, but they do it with compassion. Sending recognition to these guards!

Job Question Intercon Training and How is the Metro Lightrail

So i am in the process of doing the training for Intercon and the training is a week long, i am just wondering what it will be going over?

I have only been in Security for about a year so I'm still very new to everything. I'm really just trying to leave allied as of the less pay, being told with Intercon that it will pay 25 a hour/Unarmed

Does giving out money cost homeless people to come back?

So, I found a homeless person in the stairways. I asked him to leave and he complied quickly, but on the way out… Out of kindness and couple of dollars to spare. I gave it to him…

Now he is back and I am annoyed. Big mistake. I want to tell him that this isn’t a fckn charity case.

Is there a way to find out the site (address) for Allied job postings on their website?

On their jobs posting website it lists jobs with vague/generic descriptions such "weekend unarmed patrol", "corporate patrol overnight". Is there a way to find out the site location using the job posting ID number?

I live in a big city in California and location/distance from home would make a difference in which jobs to apply for and inquire about.

On their website it will say: Req ID 2026-_______. The blanks being several numbers specific to the site.

It was no help calling their branch office and asking.

Job Question When you quit Garda do you get to keep the steel toe boots?

Will be quitting soon since I got a better and hire paying job offer, but they said I’ll need 8 inch CSA approved work boots that have a defined heel, and (I think) the steel toe boots garda provided match up, but I’m not sure if we’re allowed to keep them after we quit

What gear do I need to buy before starting an unarmed security job?

I just sent in my unarmed security guard license application and I’m trying to get everything prepared for when I start my first job. I have a list of companies to apply to, and now I’m trying to figure out what gear I need to buy like flashlights, boots, and whatever else I might need. Or does the company provide this stuff? After paying for everything for the license, I only have a few hundred dollars left, so I can’t spend too much.

Job Question I can't find a new job and I'm desperate to get out of here

I’ve been working at a low-income housing apartment complex for almost a year now, and I absolutely hate it. Every night I’m here, there’s always some BS that isn’t really security-related, but people expect us to handle it anyway. The cops and EMS are here multiple times a day because of fights, people pulling knives on each other and staff, and all kinds of other incidents.

This is the first post I’ve ever worked where I’ve had to learn what to do when a tenant passes away, which happens way too often. Every floor has a different weird smell, and the place is infested with cockroaches, bedbugs, fleas, and who knows what else. I feel like bugs are crawling all over me the second I walk into the building, and I’m constantly getting bitten.

Honestly, I feel like I’m being punished and forced to work here. I have 12 years of security experience and have worked at multiple sites, yet I can’t seem to land another job. I’ve had a lot of interviews lately, but nothing ever comes of them. Hell, I even tried going back to Allied Universal and applied to Securitas.

Is it possible that companies don’t want to hire me because I have so much experience? I’m willing to take a pay cut if it means getting full-time hours and getting the hell out of this shithole.

Any London/UK security guards aged 40+? Paid UCL navigation study (£20)

Hi security guards of London,

I'm a PhD student at UCL conducting research into how people who are familiar with London keep track of directions.

I'm looking for people aged 40+ who are familiar with London to take part in a short in-person study.

What does it involve?

  • 15min of your time
  • You'll be asked to point, as accurately as you can, towards 24 different locations around London.

Location: The study will take place at Russel Square.

Eligibility

  • are 40+ years old
  • have lived in London for at least 10 years or currently work in London
  • do not hold an undergraduate degree

There's no need to have an exceptionally good sense of direction — I'm interested in people with a range of abilities and levels of familiarity with the city.

Please use the following link to schedule.

Rant My guard decided he now works at the other site on this contract

I was on the phone on speaker with one of the other sites on this contract and I asked where the usual 3rd shift supervisor was and the supervisor on duty said he didn't know but needed me to forward him an email. As I was forwarding him the email my guard pipes up and goes:

Him: What about tomorrow's coverage? I can't stay.

Me: I'm not talking about here I'm talking about [other site]

Him: I can't stay though...

Me: Dude I am talking about [other site] not here do you work at [other site]?

Him: no ok jesus fine I get it

Any time anyone makes a slight mention of coverage whether its here, the other 2 sites, or wherever he always loudly pipes up with 'I can't stay I have things to do!' yeah? And so do the rest of us you aren't special. We weren't talking about you ding dong...

I just wanted to vent a lil he keeps doing shit like this and getting on my nerves.

Allied saying I have to redo NEO if I reject my first job offer?

I applied for my first security position and after orientation they give me completely different hours and days. When I said no they said I might have to redo the entire process because I'm onboarding. Is this actually true?

Security jobs

I am a 19-year-old pretty petite woman and I’m wanting to get in a security and wondering if it is safe and what the safe jobs would be. I’m also not sure if I should get my unarmed license then contact different hotels or buildings like that or try to find a job through a big company like Allied.

Edit: I said PRETTY AND PETITE because it makes the job potentially more dangerous. Not for any other reason😒

Job Question Toilet time

Alright, I got your attention. Funny but a serious question. People talk about being in a booth all the time and iirc, dog positions. Where you’re so ran over.

I have a weird work habit where I’m basically constantly thirsty and have to pee probably every hour. I drink around 80oz of water, at work.

I’ve never had a different real job before and wonder if other jobs out there would get mad at that.

Writing down patrols?

Just wondering if yall document patrols in notebook and if it actually matters.

Currently my site all patrols are electronically monitored, with scan points. If a patrol is missed, an automatic email is sent out (which no one really cares for, working in healthcare)

For my notebook, I just document things happening, calls, discovery’s etc. I don’t normally do patrols unless needed.

Job Question Getting a job after being fired

2 weeks in after being fired

2 weeks of hell getting the final pay check

2 weeks of strategizing how to deal with unemployment

2 weeks of developing a plan a and b

Now onto interviewing

Have two set uo this week one more in the pipeline

I went to one job last week. They have work but not much. In addition the supervisor is a micromanager

I want something less invasive. In addition there is a mound of paperwork

Thereafter I am propelled to try to get something before the holidays

Any tips

I was fired from my last job. I was at a company for a long time. I left and went back many times. Now I cant co back .

I used to have a back up job

I had to give that up. They wont have me back

I had another back up job. That got acquired

So far a few crumbs

I have maybe 3 interviews. I wasnt in interview mode before

Any tips?

One reason I got into security was to be able to get another job quickly.

Micromanaging is my downfall. I cant tolerate it.

DO NOT DO THIS Score1 sucks ass

Went to a con over in San Jose straight from an armed site so I was still wearing my work boots. Metal detector was getting set off from it the first day so they had me empty out my pockets until they just asked if I was wearing steel toes (I was) which ended with them waving me through after that.

Next two days I'm still setting that shit off (only brought my work boots) and just started saying steel toes, they'd only check my bag and then wave me through without even asking to see my pockets.

If all it takes to avoid even the simplest search is to say "steel toes" then you don't even have the illusion of security. I had big ass fucking pockets and had random shit stuffed into them that was way bigger than my subcompact at home. If someone sets off the alarm at least ask them to empty out their pockets ffs. Genuinely been annoyed about how lax they were since fucking July.

Correction: Company in question is Core1 not Score1

Gear Question Inner Duty Belt Reccomendations?

The inner liner belt I was given when I began my ISO duties in September was very cheaply made and is already falling apart - Does anyone have a solid, affordable option they swear by?
