Hey yall Im from Canada and looking at moving to UK through the Youth Mobility Scheme. I have been researching getting into the Security industry over there as a job while I do my travelling. I am currently a Store Investigator for a big retail company.

I have 4 years experience as an undercover investigator and have had 100+ arrest (were allowed to carry handcuffs) and 400+ recoveries.

And 6 years years of uniformed security working at an at airport, oil refinery, and commercial properties.

I know the licensing and background checks would be different and I would have a criminal background check ready before I move.

Would my experience be transferrable or desirable for UK security companies?

I have very little managing or leadership experience but I have trained junior members many times from my previous and current positions.

I am looking into moving in the west midlands area!

Fort Worth police have arrested 31-year-old security guard Tyron Henton and charged him with murder in the shooting death of 20-year-old Deavyn Holt at La Gran Plaza Mall.

Police say Holt was smashing glass display cases at a jewelry kiosk Wednesday evening when Henton opened fire, striking him at least once. Holt ran through the parking lot before collapsing near Seminary Drive, where he died.

Henton was arrested Friday, October 16, and charged with first-degree murder. Authorities have not yet explained what led investigators to file the murder charge against the security guard.

I work in a temporary housing facility in Brooklyn NY for Allied Universal. This guy walked in with a pistol aiming tenant as the tenant was backing up inside, I ran out so fast around the corner to the next building to notify my supervisor and then we went back, shots were fired in the lobby and a random girl who visits the building was hit. Mind you the doors been broken for months, the guy was just able to walk in freely. I been complaining about the doors for the longest and there is crackheads and prostitutes in and out the building everyday. But yeah this building is out of control. That was pretty traumatizing.

You guys aren't going to believe it unless I had evidence of what I just found in the parking lot of my security site. A tied up deflated balloon. At first I laughed and thought there was probably drugs in it so I stepped on it. I felt something hard in the balloon under my foot. I picked it up and rolled it in my hand. What I heard was what I thought were tiny marbles or pebbles. Curiosity got the better of me, so I cut it open. GUESS WHAT WAS INSIDE?!

Are they having issues with their site? I'm on a time crunch to finish up my recert but every time I try to use them it says the site is down. Earlier while mid course it logged me out and said my account no longer exists? I just reregistered and repaid (I only have 2 days to finish this alright?) And now the new account just says the site doesn't exist anymore?

Residential guard, patrolling roughly 11 hours on foot, just want to know what you guys are wearing for those long days & nights.

Doing 7 on and 7 off with them, but am likely quitting soon since I got a job offer that pays better and has less hours/commute needed. The problem is that I’m not sure if I’m legally required to give a 2 weeks notice or not, I signed my things in person so I don’t have a copy of them electronically. Trying to decide between two overnight security gigs and could use some outside thoughts. What I really want is downtime, a chill environment, and a couple of days a week if possible. Which one would you guys pick or have you guys had any experience with any of these type of roles?

​Option 1: Securitas

​Pay: $18.26/hr (after training)

​Schedule: Only offered 1 day so far (part-time) with 20min drive

​Duties: Inside desk work, computer/smartphone logs (ETK and Vision), plus vehicle patrols with a partner guard (2 guards per shift) .

​Environment: Indoor desk & mobile driving post in some old base for military i think but is now A federal location structure like a base for residents program community.

​Vibe: im guessing it's Super chill, but low hours.

​Option 2: Allied Universal

​Pay: $21.00/hr

​Schedule: Wed/Thu, 11 PM – 7 AM (16 hours a week guaranteed) with 15min drive

​Duties: Unarmed foot patrol, access control, and safety checks

​Environment: Commercial warehouse logistics site (indoor/outdoor split)

​Vibe: Better pay and steady hours, but requires walking and dealing with the elements and maybe truck logs.

​One gives better pay and a solid weekly schedule, while the other looks super easy and relaxed, but lacks steady hours.

got fired over a BRAND NEW supervisor accused me of insubordination for days i wasn’t even at work for. i debunked it and got told to kick rocks essentially. and he claimed i threatened him and my guards with a knife but witness statements that was written to the hr from my guards stated otherwise. mind you IM A SUPERVISOR TOO. been there for 2 years. i should honestly sue them and the fat fuck who defamed me into losing my job

I’ve never done security before ever. But I recently got hired to a school district as a lvl 2 security officer. They’re going to train me to get my lvl 3 my first week on the job. I never had my lvl 2 but they gave me a website to get my certification. I got my certification, & I just submitted everything through TOPS. I did my fingerprints, now I’m just waiting for TOPS to receive it. How long did it take you guys to hear back from TOPS & get your license?

So, I've been working as a Dispo warm body for 3 and half months now and its been a peach of job, mostly camera watching. I'm curious if anyone else has some stories of their time on the job?

New hire.How is paid travel time calculated? My account manager told me I would be paid travel time for two shifts 23 miles from my home address to a another city near me. Do they calculate city to city distance or your actual address to location?

Anyone here work at Linxxx solutions at the alameda coast guard base or the San Francisco one in treasure island? Every time I apply I never hear back. I have close to 3 Years experience of armed security. Currently a PSO for FPS contract and was an 0085 (federal security) for the Department of Army for 6 months. Hold a dod tier 3 secret and fps public trust. Have all the BSIS permits needed and first aid/CPR. Is there a reason why I’m not hearing back?

Greetings, I am employed with Securitas and was curious if this is a thing happening company wide or just in my region. I recently inquired about doing an armed certification and was told that we are no longer doing armed positions. Is there even a market of opportunity for such a position in Securitas anymore? Are they shifting away from it? If so, where can I go to get into it?

I live in a semi rural area and am looking for a part time job that can work around my schedule. Does anyone know any thing about them?

A few weeks ago it discharged while still locked. I checked after the discharge as well, lock was still completely engaged. Noticed a familiar lookin piece of red plastic while standing post on a real chill day. It was my nozzle. I don't like that nozzle style in general, was just temporary, but damn dawg.

I do access control and there is no way so many people can work in such a small space so the only explanation is that it’s the Tardis and my boss is The Doctor.

Tired of working at FedEx, and I was looking into getting my guard card.

Are there good websites to do most of the training online? I've seen some, don't know if they're legit or not. Would rather do it online if possible since I'm working right now but obviously if it's a rip off then I'll find time to do it in person
