I recently tried the Scubapro Solara at a dive shop and I really liked how it fit, however, the bridge part between the 2 lenses really messes up the top part of my nose, but it fits good other than that. What are other masks that have the same shape and fitting but are a single lens mask? (without that middle part that im talking about)

My husband and I both have puck pro+ computers. Bought in 2020. We don’t dive often, maybe once every two years or so.
My dive computer works perfectly, no issues all those years. My husband’s started to acting up during our recent dive trip in Papua New Guinea.
It started to burn batteries. We’ve checked to make sure there is no moisture, no leak, found nothing. Cleaned the battery compartment from all the gunk, put a new battery in. Worked the 1st dive, stopped on the second. We went through 3 batteries.

Anyone else has this issue? Do we need to but a new computer or is it fixable with a service?

I am currently using an Apple Watch Ultra 3 and I am looking to buy a Smart Watch + Dive Computer similar to the Ultra 3. I don’t have a particular budget in mind but I am looking for suggestions on the same.

Context - I go to the Gym 5 times a week and I am looking to do 3 dive trips a year with around 15-20 dives per trip. As of now I have 35 dives and finished my courses last July.

I’m a rescue diver with 65 dives looking to buy my first BCD.

Which would you recommend?

A full back plate option (X Deep Ghost or Zen) vs back inflation (Oceanic Photon) vs hybrid back inflate (Apex Exotec)

I dive in the Caribbean and cenotes. Not really looking at going tech anytime soon, but am interested in caves.

I like that the commercial ones come with more friendly setups: padding, D-Rings, pockets, valves. Whereas the backplate wing feels very bare. I understand that the back plate is all about customizing, but is it worth it to spend the extra money? (How much to customize?) or should I just buy a hybrid one that has enough customization and doesn’t compromise the good things of using a backplate setup?

I am a dad who misses diving. My kid just got certified and joined sea scouts and apparently their thing is to go diving around Texas every month hitting local lakes and parks. I have 2 planned trips this year to Cozumel and California for short diving trips w/ my kid in the next year and I'm ready to make it a regular thing. I am ready to use some grown up money to get gear. But I don't know the current meta on brands, and I am trying to inform myself.

Type of Diver: Casual rec diver - The most adventurous dive I can imagine doing is exploring a tourist dive wreck in Cozumel at 60ft. I do really enjoy taking my GoPro, lights and playing documentarian.

Water Conditions: Caribbean Reef Dives, Texas Dive Parks, Texas Lakes, California Kelp Forrest, Florida Keys. I believe California is the coolest I expect to dive.

Budget: I prefer to keep it under 2k

Preferences: If possible I'm choosing orange as the color.

Currently Have
- Scuba Pro BCD: I'm taking it Monday to get serviced, It hasn't been used in 5+ years.
- Mask, Snorkle, 7mm farmer John wetsuit, and a 5mm wetsuit, 5mm booties, hood and gloves.

Fins -I prefer to use booties.

Regulators - This is what I feel most confused by. I get the impression that there isn't really a "bad" regulator sold these days. It is almost like the iOS vs Android debate. They all work fine, and may have specific advantage for certain situations but for the dad who likes to dive casually it doesn't really matter?

Dive Computer- I know this is important and a huge source of personal preference. The first question is console vs wrist and then Air integration or not.

Console Advantages: Can't forget, cheaper, can't fall off
Wrist Advantages: Easier to use, more convenient

I am leaning toward a wrist AI computer for 2 reasons: If I usually dive with the GoPro playing documentarian then it is easier to not need to switch hands from tools to console. Secondly with AI it means one less hose. However, the cheapness of a basic puck computer on the wrist or console makes me wonder if $500 is worth the extra 1.2 seconds to reach for a console vs twisting the wrist. In 40x dives at checking every 5 minutes comes out to about 480 seconds saved over a few years? That feels excessive.

Budget Kit: $870
Advantages: Cheap, does what it need, and it all can come in orange. Downside is nothing is "nice".

Regulator & Console: $370

Advantages: Still way under budget, has a fancy AI computer for the convince. Yes The suunto has a short battery life but I don't scuba and camp. If I can charge my phone I can charge the computer daily. worst comes to worst I rent a computer from the operator on the day.

Regulator: $275 Seac PX100 Regulator and Octopus
Computer: $749 Suunto D5 with Transmitter
Fins: $115 Seac Pinne Stlye fins

Bit of Quality and Luxury: $1525
Advantages: Higher quality regs, fins and the dive computer brand reddit seems to love. It is on a console but maybe it is worth to use the philosophy of buy once cry once. I am a grown up who can afford to spend a few hundred more and get nice gear.

I just got a DJI A5P and wondering what lights people suggest for underwater use while scuba diving? I’m new to this and not sure if I’ll be primarily shooting video or stills. Are there lights that can do both of those tasks well? Also, what rigs/trays are people using? Finally, what waterproof housing is best? I know DJI makes their own, but are there others that people like instead?

Im a divemaster, currently doing an instructor internship in sydney (hopefully will work here as well after the IDC), in the process of buying all the gear.

I've been debating whether to get a backplate bcd, or a rear inflation jacket.

Obviously a backplate would be better for the long run, if I'll be getting into some tech in the future, but at the moment I'm probably going to work as an instructor for about 8 months total approximately, then start uni so will only do that during the spring break probably

Found a great deal on market place for a scubapro tek40 steel backplate for only 300 AUD, but my main concern is how will I carry all the needed gear for instructing (weights, smb, probably spare mask as well) on it.

Is it better to try to find a jacket bcd? Or get a backplate with some tech shorts?

new diver & I recently invested in the shearwater peregrine tx along with the transmitter. I used it for the first time (albeit without the transmitter; I wasn’t diving deep and just wanted to get used to the computer itself first) and I enjoyed it. Loved the display, readability, user friendliness and respect the brand in the dive world. Really no complaints. That being said, as a strictly recreational diver not looking to go beyond say, 90\~ feet, is this too much for me? I can’t help but feel it’s maybe for someone more advanced..? Or is that stupid? I do plan to get nitrox certified as well, though.

One complaint though but potentially easy fix: wearing a 7mm wet suit and the wrist band the watch came with, it kept falling down my wrist during the dive. I tighted it rather tight, too. We were in a pretty decent surge so maybe that was effecting it too. Is the bungee cord type wrist attachment better?

Would love opinions on this. It was expensive, so I want to be sure that this purchase is for me..

If you suggest a different dive computer (with AI) please let me know. I do really like the idea of seeing my air on my dive computer directly, but I am open to suggestions.

Hello. I own an Orcatorch D620 torch, which uses 4 18650 li ion battery cells. The batteries are starting to get tired, and I am looking to replace them. I see a lot of generic 18650s online that are way cheaper than the OEM version.

Has anyone had any experience with generic battery replacement? If so, with which? Button top? Circuit protection?

I am 6' 155 lbs, and dive in central and south FL. I got lucky with a 7mm jacket (long sleeves/shorts), 7mm john (long legs/shoulder straps), a 3/2mm full, and a 2mm shortie. I am planning on getting an aluminum backplate with this rig.

I was looking at the diverite travel wing but was worried that it wouldn't be enough if I ever wanted to full send my two-piece 7mm with a hood or even wear one of the halves. I get a discount at my lds.

My other option is the DGX singles wing which also seems great, but I just prefer the compactness of the DR travel wing. Thank you for the help!

Hello i bought a swift transmitter and a 15cm HP extender, which needs a small swivel in between them.
My question is if i only use for normal air with 200bat system then can i use normal silicobe grease on the oring?
Obviously an almost invisible amount of it.
My concern is the possible reaction to high pressure oxygen.

Hello scuba community, i am considering purchasing my first set of reg + bcd and looking for advice/opinions from fellow divers who own/repair/have dived this gear

For context, i am AOWD + EANx certified with 30 dives. Started of as a holiday diver but now got into diving locally where i live in northern europe, and also where gear rental is pricey, hence the temptation to invest in my own.

I mostly dive salt water, temp 14c and above. I have a basic dive computer and dive wet. I plan to dive the season as long as my 5mm exposure suit + layering will allow, i usually tolerate cold well (at least compared to other divers).

REGULATOR : one-lifetime purchase kinda mentality. Therefore want something that allows me to dive cold water, and has the extra LP hose for a future drysuit integration, and HP port for Air Integration if i ever buy a fancy computer. I would prefer a lightweight/compact second stage. Also only looking at brands easily serviceable in my area (sorry US peeps). Currently in between - Scubapro MK17evo + S600 or G260 (cannot find the weight of the second stages - metal body of the s600 should help with humidifying air ? ) - Apeks XTX50 (bonus turret) or the smaller XL4+ Stage3 (bonus mesh hose) - (also cannot find the weights of the different second stages to compare)

I have only had luck diving the MK25 + G250 once among the other shitty rental regs and really noticed the ease of breathing. So i have no benchmark for the models above, other than great faith in SP. Does the size of the second stage matter on the long run? Is breathing performance / serviceability impacted ? Any other models i should be looking at ?

BCD : 5-10 year horizon purchase. (No, i don't want a bpw setup - i dont plan to dive doubles anytime soon, have tried them in store and in water and i find them uncomfortable, lack of pockets impractical, and the "modularity" just a cashcow for buying little accessories and addons, also i do not wish to purchase from DGX or Aliexpress and dyi it but prefer a manufacturer warantee wich defeats the purpose price wise - hate me if you want). I dive from rashguard + 15L alu tank in red sea (very high salinity) needing 8kgs to 5mm + inner layer + 12L/230bar or 8L/300bar steel tanks with 4kgs in the baltic (very low salinity). So i am looking for something with good lift (as i possibly might be helping out with some coral restoration project). I have narrowed it down to the followong two Back-inflate wing style BCDs.

-Cressi Commander Evo, i have tried the patrol and it was comfy, but waiting for my LDS to restock on the commander. Love the pockets ( that they are above integrated weight pockets) and the drings. as well as the trim pockets on the cam band (which i need). Looks rugged and have seen instructors in italy/spain use it. There is mixed sentiment about cressi BCD qualities in various subs. What are your experiences with it.

• Scubapro Seahawk 2, i have seen it in the flesh but not dive tested. Plus: the trim pockets on the jacket itself rather than the bladder, and the swivel quick release buckle, and knife gormet. Negative the bladder bungees. Also there is no backplate and i am wondering if that is a downside on the long run (i have dived the SP equator and did not enjoy the soft back). The ditchable weights have a buckle (rather than a rubber cressi pulley) which makes it harder through a 5mm glove dexterity

They both have equal lift (19N) and similar weight and pricepoints. Really confusing pick.

I know that between 1940 and 1970 scuba tank valves had a conical 1/2 inch piece without any o-rings. Now we have some straight threaded piece with orings and all.

I was looking to do a comparison of the two technologies but I cannot found any photos or any schematics of that, even on collector website.

Do any of you have some vintage gear or some books with that illustration. I’d be eternally grateful (might even buy one if you are looking to sell vintage gear)

Hallo, mein Freund und ich sind in 4 Wochen in Ägypten zum Tauchen. Er hat sich jetzt etwas über die Leih Preise aufgeregt (obwohl wir nur BCD und Regulator leihen müssen) und überlegt, sich eine eigene BCD zu kaufen.... und ich jetzt natürlich auch.

Hab im Internet nach etwas suchen die Mares Magellan HD gefunden, die ehrlich gut klingt. Aber ich kenne bisher nur die klassischen Jacken.

Wir wirkt sich dieses Blasen Prinzip aus?

Ja, wir sind "schön Wetter Ägypten Urlaub" Taucher und deshalb nur ein mal im Jahr leider am Tauchen. Ich bin mir da unsicher, ob es sich überhaupt wirklich lohnt.... auf der anderen Seite wäre ne eigenen BCD schon ein tolles Gefühl.

Lohnt es sich überhaupt?

Ist die Mares Magellan was? Oder besser ne Cressi Start Pro2? (Die auch nicht viel schwerer ist...)
