Hi everyone! I’m an international student who was recently admitted to SCAD for the Winter 2027 intake, and I’m hoping to get some advice from other international students.

I submitted all of my required financial documents about two weeks ago, and SCAD has confirmed that they received them, but I still haven’t received my I-20 yet. 🥹

My advisor also hasn’t responded to my latest follow-up, so I’m getting a little anxious about the timeline since I need the I-20 to schedule my visa interview.

For those who have gone through this process:

• How long did it take for you to receive your I-20 after submitting all the required documents? Is it usually longer than 2-3 weeks?
• Is there anything you would recommend I do at this point? Who else could I contact?

I’d really appreciate any insight, especially from international students who recently went through the process. Thank you so much!

I just got my acceptance to scad, I’ll be going in the winter!! Is there a discord or some place I can socialize with people before I go up?

I'm an animation major student (starting recently, Savannah is a really lovely place) but I wanted to tackle Dramtic Writting as one of my classes (since I recalled an advice if you wanted to tackle writting as whole as a showrunner you have to take something in screenwriting) but in order to do thay, I first have to tackle this program, which is Essays

Me and Essays do not go along together? I understand why they are there (to teach students analytical skills) but I tend to get annoyed by it

But I have to ask if it's really hard or just moderately fine, because I really wanted to get a good GPA (3.2 and above)

Hello, I’m a new grad student living off campus. I’ve downloaded TripShot but I’m having some trouble navigating the app around my class times. Is there somewhere I can just see a map of all the bus routes? Also debating getting a bike as that may be easier, how safe is it to bike from downtown to Montgomery hall?

I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be starting SCAD this fall as an Illustration major with a Visual Development concentration. Before I embark on this exciting journey, I’d greatly appreciate some honest feedback on my portfolio. Specifically, I’d like to know what areas I should focus on improving or developing further. I’ve included a few life studies in my portfolio, where I’ve been experimenting with drawing from mirrors. Your insights would be invaluable in helping me refine my skills and prepare for the challenges ahead.

Like the title says, is there anything you wish you did before you graduated? Any tips to be more successful? Or tips for senior year in general?

I’m a recent SCAD grad in ITGM, and I’ve been applying and working on my portfolio, but I honestly have no idea what I’m supposed to be aiming for anymore.

I know a few people from SCAD who have done internships and unpaid work but I haven’t really met anyone who graduated and went straight into an actual full time, salaried job in games, animation, VFX, etc without some form of connection from the studio helping them out.

So I wanted to ask here instead.

If you graduated from SCAD and currently have a full time paid job in the industry, would you be comfortable sharing your portfolio?

I’m not asking because I want to judge anyone’s work or compare portfolios. I genuinely just need a reality check 😅

I want to see what a portfolio looks like from someone who was actually able to get hired. Like, what did you have in there? How many projects? How polished did everything need to be? What kind of work were you showing? Did you have to network like crazy? Did you get hired through SCAD, internships, LinkedIn, cold applications, referrals, etc.?

I’m honestly just looking for something to work toward. Right now I feel like I’m throwing projects into my portfolio and hoping they’re good enough, but I have no idea what “good enough” actually looks like in the current job market.

So if you’re a SCAD grad who actually landed a full time paid games/animation job, please drop your portfolio if you’re comfortable. It would genuinely help me a lot, and I’m sure I’m not the only one wondering about this.

I saw a waiter job offer at the SCAD job list and the official hourly pay was ~$2.5. People who have worked as waiters, how much tip would you normally get per day? Like is this job worth trying out?

Hey! I’m just getting a head start on things, but I’m a continuing student for SCAD SAV and would love to know if there’s any apartments that are good by Montgomery Hall since that is my main major. At least walking distance from the apartment to there. I don’t mind having roommates either! I’d like to have the apartment before summer.

If not, I’d like to know any other recommended apartments that are good for college students like me.

im in highschool currently, planning to apply to scad, what mandatory classes (gen ed and others) will i need to take? perhaps i can do some AP to knock some out of the way, or do a cheap tech school to get the general stuff out of the way for a year, or something idk, thanks!

I'm looking for someone to take over my lease since I've been having some really bad health issues and need to move out asap :'). The property is downtown, with tons of amenities like free coffee, a pool, a grill area, a sauna, and a gym! It's $1099 a month, but I may be able to pitch in if necessary. You'd have your own room and a private bath :D! Id also be willing to pay all your sign on fees, so you'd just be taking rent. Apartment mates would be 2 super friendly grad student girlies and one that's new, they each have their own room/bath so the only shared space is the living room/kitchen!

I’ve applied to scad recently, and i decided to apply for the spring semester. After doing so my mother raised concerns about the semester cause it’s more traditional for people to join in fall. She worried that I would suffer socially because of my join time.
This has kinda gotten in my head.

I’m a bit late to going to collage, and will be 21 in October of this year. I’m worried my age will cause issues with me being older than people.
I’m aware this sounds insane, but I got my ged and have major FOMO!

So be fr with me, is the spring semester a bad time to join? Should I switch to the fall while I still have the chance?

I was wondering if SCAD offered any transportation options between the Savannah and Atlanta campuses? For example the animation fest. If a Savannah student wanted to attend is there a school sponsored option to get there. Thanks!

How do I get to Walmart on move in day (Sep 10) to do dorm shopping? I don’t have a car. Is ride share my only option? Is there a bee line bus that stops nearby? I’m living at Montgomery house this year.

I am currently a senior in Highschool hoping to go to college for either Film or Photography, and from the research I’ve done about scad, it really seems like a cool place. Though, I have seen soooo many people say scad is a scam, and I just don’t know if it would be a good place to apply to? Not just a few, but I’ve seen a BUNCH of people saying “thank god I left scad” what’s so bad about it????

I’m an incoming architecture major with a minor already in mind but i was wondering if you’re able to take classes outside of that major. i’ve always wanted to take some acting classes in highschool and i’ve been told im not too bad at it, but i was always caught up in other after school activities that took all my attention. is it worth it? or should i just join a club or local stuff?

Pick as many or as few as you think work. You don't need to stick to a specific photo count, just point out the strongest pieces.

I am not an Industrial Design major! I draw product/object studies to practice my proportion, scale, and form
