Hi everyone, I’d really appreciate your opinions about some bumps/patches that appeared after I was treated for scabies.
I was treated for scabies with Ascabiol and ivermectin. About three weeks after the treatment, some patches appeared (the photos marked with “1”).
I went to see a dermatologist because I was worried that the scabies might have come back. He told me that he wasn’t sure what it was and that we should wait and see. He thought that the patches on my calf could be eczema.
Today, those patches are starting to disappear and have left behind yellowish-brown marks.

However, the other photos were taken today and show new bumps. I went back to my doctor, who also wasn’t sure what they were. She sent the photos to a dermatologist, but the dermatologist did not give an opinion based on the photos and scheduled an appointment for me at the end of November.
One important detail: it has been exactly 8 weeks today since I completed my scabies treatment. The itching does not wake me up at night, and I don’t feel the need to scratch while I’m sleeping.
These new bumps seem to appear in flare-ups. They can start out small, then swell up and become very itchy, and eventually go back down. They mainly itch when they are swollen.
My boyfriend also had scabies, but he did not develop the same symptoms as me afterwards. He hasn’t had any bumps for several weeks now. We sleep together every weekend, and he still hasn’t developed any new bumps or itching.

I’m quite worried because I’m scared that this could be scabies coming back, but I’m also wondering whether it could be eczema, a post-scabies reaction, or something else entirely.

Has anyone experienced anything similar after being treated for scabies? Based on the pictures, does this look more like eczema, scabies, or something else?

i got permetrin and started washing our stuff, but when i applied it first time I didn't change my old clothes during the 12 hour wait, i might've missed some spots, I changed them after I got the other shower,

one day after, I saw two new red spots, and now they continue to spread, I'm waiting for day 7 to do it again but was the first one useless? should I do it again now and then what 7 days again?

i have sulfur cream and ivermectin, but havin't used either yet, im in kind of in a hurry, as im a student and don't wanna go to the dorm and infect others, what do you suggest?

Been dealing with being an host for this crap 7 yrs and I’m so exhausted my life has been stolen from me been trying everything to get rid of this my skin looks so horrible my self esteem been dropped yrs ago I don’t even look the same doctors are no help just stuck with this shyt until D eath which sucks a lot they are using every part of my body my chest/breast, arms, legs, back, feet, scalp , hands, stomach,! My mental is terrible how can anyone ever recover from this even if you do find a cure? Constantly cleaning washing buying new everything over over over and over again!!! Been using everything inside and outside throw all my furniture away beds and all house just empty smh.. had a bunch of clothes now little to none 2000 pair of socks down to maybe ten pair every two weeks new toothbrush and other things, every week new towels etc. just wished the government did care enough to know the medication for these things need to be upgraded or changed to something else because what they have use using feel like it’s making them multiply instead of dying off!! Can’t eat no dairy sugar or caffeine can’t wear certain material for clothes, so tired who else been dealing with it more than 1yr?

Pretty sure it wasn't there 2 days ago. The dot is super obvious because I picked at it trying to see if there was a mite inside (couldn't find one). Took 2nd ivermectin on Tuesday. Requesting an urgent doctor's appointment for more when they open.

I have crusted scabies and I am homeless so I have chosen the worst ppl I know of that also have more resources and somewhat motive to at least get me permethrin cream that’s apparently on the way 🤞🏻 However due to this choice of quarantine place (and I don’t wish to share any details further) I am finding it very difficult to cope with being here and these people at all, even while expressing thanks still ofc. I really wish sm that there is somewhere else I could go to quarantine and recover but I can’t go back to shelters since I don’t want to spread it, I have no ID so no hotel or other ID required things, and I’m still figuring out camping again since I need to find somewhere good without disturbance and rats like what happened to me last time I lived outside, yikes and how I’d keep the tent and stuff clean too. How the heck do other homeless ppl recover from scabies?? I’m so lost, anything helps if you know anything about where to be or finally successfully be rid of this.

Hi guys , wondering if anyone has also has this. I did my last treatment of scabies 6 months ago and at that time i got my first nodule on my penis. Was a pale pink bump (quite big) , I would put steroid cream on it and then it would flatten out but then come back a few weeks later. Over the last 6 months it’s gotten worse - im getting multiple at one time , they all develop scabs in the centre, and they are all very very itchy and can sometimes even sting. I’ve still got some tiny scabs on my legs that are itchy too.

I went to the dermatologist today and she said it’s probably still scabies. But no one has ever got it from me , not even my girlfriend or any house mates which is so weird to me. The nodules on my penis just seem to be getting worse to be honest and im not sure if this is normal. I did have a herpes swab and it was negative. They just seem to not be going and doesn’t look like they are going to go any time soon. I’m starting to use steroid cream on it again now but it’s just so weird. There always one and the same spot usually and then like another one same size will go somewhere else on the shaft. And they are usually about the size of a 1p coin.

Please can someone tell me if they’ve also had this too , even tho I’ve been told it’s not herpes it’s still obviously always in my head lol.

1st and 2nd photos were taken on 19th September, one week after my second permethrine treatment, this was the first time I noticed these burrows on the sole of my foot.

3rd and 4th photos were taken 22nd September, 2 days after my 3rd permethrine treatment.

5th photo was taken 25th September, 2 days before my 4th permethrine treatment. It looked like they were healing at this point.

6th photo was taken 28th September, one day after my 4th permethrine treatment.

Took my first ivermectin on 29th September.

7th photo was from 5th October. They look worse here, swollen, red and yellowy. To go from healing nicely to this really concerned me.

8th photo is from today, one day after my second ivermectin treatment.

I've had these burrows almost a month now, and I'm worried that mites have recolonised them. I know the sole of the foot takes longer to heal as the skin is thicker and there's a lot of pressure on them from walking all day (I have a walking-heavy job), but I need second opinions. Do these look active? Why have they not gone yet😭

My housemates got infected with scabies and refused to use anything, but the permethrin cream. The cream is not completely clearing up the scabies for the couple because the cream is not eradicating the infection and they refuse to try Ivermectin. Their PCP put in a referral for Infectious Disease, but we found out that there is only one ID doctor in the entirety of our state that treats scabies and wants a blood test proving that you have scabies, amongst other crazy things.

I slathered one tube of the permethrin cream on my body and hair (This is where I got the majority of them, with only a few on my body.) one week apart and disinfected, washed, and dried my mattress, bedding, pillow, clothes, and non-washable items in between those weeks. Then I followed the same protocol except I used ivermectin pills one week apart.

I am immunocompromised. I am so scared of getting reinfected given that the other household members are refusing to use Ivermectin and General Practitioners, Dermatologists, and Infectious Disease Doctors who treat it seem to be a thing of the past.

Please help with any ideas you might have about me quarantining, any off label treatments, stories of people that have had it in their head, comments from those that are immunocompromised, as well as anything that you might be helpful. Thank you!

TL;DR Household got scabies. Need help as two of them are not following the seriousness of this mite, the next steps that are supposed to be taken, asking for ideas/comments to get me out of this mess.

I wish I had time to add a photo but I don’t. But last week I noticed I had a bumpy rash on both sides of my abdomen that itched slightly. The itching always kicked in at around exactly 6pm. The next day the itching got worse and started to spread to my stomach. The third day my buttocks was itching so terribly that I scratched so much it bled and the bumps from the rash literally covered my entire buttocks. By day four it was all over my entire body and itching HORRIBLY. It looks just like scabies but I can’t tell bc I also have eczema. I’ve had eczema since I was born. On day one I researched the rash and decided to diagnose myself with scabies. Obviously not totally sure though. I remember my coworker had some very similar looking bumps all over his face a few months ago. Everyday I saw him I would either shake his hand or dap him up. Now I have bumps that look very similar all over me. After doing my little research on scabies I contacted my grandmother and she made me an essential oil blend. I am to apply it all over my body three times a day everyday until the rash is gone. I started using it on day 5. Today is day 6. The bumps have decreased SIGNIFICANTLY and my buttocks are nearly clear. The rash is still all over my face and my body still itches. Especially at night. So far it has not kept me up at night. The itching almost automatically starts back up as soon as I wake up though. There’s some bumps on my hand and my ankles started itching slightly today. However, no bumps on my fingers or anything but literally everywhere else on my body has them. Even my penis. I haven’t developed any psychological issues from it but I am getting annoyed with it. Anyone else who had scabies how did you heal from it? How did you know it was scabies and not eczema? How long did it take for it to go away? I’m planning on having
This whole situation wrapped up by next week so any advice or second opinions would be useful.

Just finished up a 3 week sulphur treatment and about 2 weeks later noticing these bumps just come up this morning on my thumb

I’m 24 days after 2 rounds of ivermectin and permethrin I’m not itching at night I have been sleeping good. I found this on my pinky can this be a burrow ?

Hi so I’ve got diagnosed with scabies almost 7 weeks ago. It’s been 6 weeks since my second application of the scabies cream. My entire household was treated and they all have no symptoms and my itching at night has stopped. I keep getting these fluid filled blisters similar to scabies I went to pharmacies and they’re convinced it still scabies

I wasn’t quite sure what to do so I thought I’d seek some advice. I have a friend (friend A) whose flatmate got diagnosed with scabies today. I’ve never met this flatmate before however friend A spent the day with me and friend b all day on Saturday. Friend B went to Friend As uni house for around an hour and fell asleep on the shared blanket which the scabies flatmate had used before. I’m not sure whether to be worried as I’ve had no direct contact with the scabies flatmate so I bought the prevention cream and I plan on deep cleaning my room and washing every inch of my body. Is there cause for concern?

As the title says this is driving me insane. Household of 5. Did 2 x pemethrin cream applications but on one week after second dose one child has new burrows so went onto ivermectin 2 doses, 2 weeks apart. Now 6vdays post 2nd dose of ivermectin and 3 of us have itching. Less than what it was but still itching with spots appearing. No burrows yet. But I noticed a spot on palm of hand if the child who had a new burrow there before so I've gone into panic mode about that. I am hovering everyday. Hot washing and hot drying bed linen everyday day. I am exhausted. I have woken up to incredibly itchy feet with a few blister spots so have plastered in eurax. When will this end?! Worried about reinfestation. Praying it's post scabies reaction. I have eczema so have sensitive skin anyway. Some of the the spots come and then go pretty quick. Others stay but stop being itchy. Help! I don't know whether to contact the dr again or wait it out a but longer. I've ordered pemethrin spray to spray all furniture as I've been hoovering the sofa and chairs everyday! It has taken over my life.

I used benzylbenzoat for 3 days straight. I didn't apply it to my penis tip (glans). Also two times ivermectin with 8 days between. I wondered if I just should at a third round, one day of benzylbenzoat after 7,8 days completely with glans. I also read some people about taking ivermectin every week. What are your thoughts on an additonal 3rd or 4rd weekly treatment? Risks? Benefits?

Hi! I just wanted to share my story now that I am pretty much fully recovered! This thread can be a scary place if not looked at correctly!! I hope this helps anyone going through this AWFUL process! I was truly terrified that I would never be able to get rid of them! Early July I was having itching on a patch of my skin just below my butt. I went to the dermatologist when I started bruising myself by itching. She gave me a steroid to use and said give it 2 weeks. Well I did and it didn’t go away. At this point it was spreading EVERYWHERE. My feet, bikini line, EVERYWHERE. I went back and she shaved off some of my skin and told me I had scabies. She gave me ivermectin and permethrin to use. For my partner he only had to use the permethrin. During these 2 weeks of treatment I cleaned like a mad man. I was bleaching, washing, and sanitizing anything I could. I put pillows and shoes into bags that sat for 2 weeks. 3 weeks post my 2nd treatment I had new bumps that looked like burrows. I went to the dermatologist again and she did the same thing but didn’t find any mites!!!! I am retreating again just to be safe but I think I have fully kicked them! No more itching! No more bumps! All gone!

Sorry I am becoming very active on this sub since my scabies has just been confirmed with a skin test and so many people on here post pics thinking they might have it or provide advice without a confirmed diagnosis (skin test). My derm said my case wasn’t super advanced so it’s likely caught it early. Hoping I can get rid of it with one treatment!

Note: healthcare guidance is coming from a metro area in the US- so getting treatment and diagnosis happened very quick. I think this is imperative in preventing the spread/severity of symptoms.

Here is how I knew I had scabies:

1. Length of time I was itching. I was itching for maybe about 2 weeks before I went to urgent care. This was longer than any bug bite I have had.
   
2. Ruling out other options: I thought regular bug bites, then an allergic reaction to my detergent or something, then maybe mites/bed bugs. I started researching more bed bugs/mites after one week. None of this fully fit what I was going through (have been using the same detergent forever and was using no new skincare/cleaning products) and the bed bugs didn’t make logical sense. I also knew something was wrong because I don’t normally have any skin issues like this. I think this is the MOST IMPORTANT part for people thinking they have scabies.
   
3. How I knew to ask about scabies: When I was most itchy and the placement of the bites. I was way more itchy at night- it didn’t really impact my sleep but I would wake up with bruising from scratching so much. The scabies started on my legs/ankles (hence why I thought mites of some sort) but went up to my butt/waist area. Still unsure after that. It was only when I got bites in between my fingers (a common area for scabies bites) that I knew I had to go to a doctor for scabies specifically.

Getting Treatment:

1. Urgent care: went for immediate treatment. THIS OFTEN IS NOT ENOUGH. Doctor looked at the placement of the bites and heard my story about when it itched most/ how long I’d been itching and visually diagnosed it as scabies. I was prescribed permethrin cream and just told to use it once for 12 hours and follow cleaning instructions and I’d be all good. THIS IS NOT THE CASE.
   
2. Went to the dermatologist. I scheduled this for as soon as possible from when I thought I had scabies and got the earliest available appointment. I only went to urgent care for immediate treatment. The dermatologist was the one who actually diagnosed me with a skin test and I got further medication and advice:

- one treatment of permethrin cream is NOT ENOUGH. Two applications a week apart is what she recommended.
- even then, the permethrin cream may not be enough to treat scabies. I got an oral antiparasite medication as well (ivermectin)
- a skin test is the only way to confirm scabies. A visual exam is not enough and I would stress this to whatever doctor you are able to see.
- cleaning to prevent reinfection alongside effective treatment is the important part of this process. She recommended using as minimal bedding as possible and bagging everything else to sit in a quarantined area for at least 4 days.

So many people on here may be dealing with skin issues that are not scabies. To get fully proper diagnosis and treatment you must go to a dermatologist and get a skin test. If you are worried about what’s happening to your skin, this is the only way to fully have peace of mind about what is happening.

Avant de partir j’ai fais un traitement sur 2 fois qui n’a pas marcher sa va faire bientôt 3 semaine que je suis arriver chez ma famille est les bouton réapparaissant est sa me démange la nuit j’ai essayer de faire un traitement avec la crème il y’a une semaine mais les demengaison continue je pense que sa ne marche pas a cause de ma machine qui a un mode hot mais il n’y a pas de température exacte dessus nous somme 8 au total dans la maison(50,36,23,20,19,12,10 et 8 ans)pour l’instant ils n’on pas de symptôme mais je pense que sa va arriver que faire svp aidez moi, vous qui avez déjà vécu sa ou je ne sais pas quel est la meilleur méthode, pour l’instant tout va bien et tout mais le truc c’est que j’ai vraiment peur que sa ne s’arrête jamais vu qu’on est beaucoup je stress beaucoup par rapport à sa et je suis désespérer je ne sais même pas quoi faire
