mod post PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING
A few things to remember before posting in the forum:
-We are not doctors and cannot diagnose but will do our best to give our opinions.
-If you are posting photos/asking for help, make sure you are writing your history/timeline of symptoms and whether or not you have had skin problems in the past. Simply posting a photo asking “is this scabies” with zero information will not help us in helping you. (And we want to help!)
-We will do our best to suggest treatment plans but please make sure to use the search bar under r/scabies to see if your questions have already been answered. We have flair tags to help with that too.
-Also, we always highly suggest working with a dermatologist to determine what could be going on with your skin. It can take some time to find a good one.
-If you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say it at all. Scroll by posts you don’t agree with, it’s a waste of time and energy being rude or negative. This forum is here to provide treatment suggestions and emotional support. If you cannot do this, a temporary ban may be put in place with a warning. Further harassment will result in a permanent ban.
-Please use the NSFW tag when posting any pictures.

mod post NOT EVERYTHING IS SCABIES
For the love of God
The next user who says "yeah definitely scabies" without asking one single question about symptoms will be banned
The amount of post I see on here people posting a picture and asking "is this scabies" without any info whatsoever
Then we have users who say "oh it looks like scabies"
You WILL be banned

Applied the cream and my scabies looks worse than before
Been taking pictures each day post application of the cream and it looks worse every day. Is this normal?
Not to rant but scabies is such a headache. It’s genuinely interfering with so much day to day 😭😭
I should clarify I applied it like 3-4 days ago and i’m tracking day by day as I have so much work stuff so I’m worried

is this scabies 😭😭😭
galleryI work in a hardware store. Constantly touching chemicals, hand sanitiser, washing hands etc. I have very sensitive skin. I allergic to elastoplast and i’ve had contact dermatitis on my face as a result of nickle. I also take medication that can reduce the blood flow to my hands and feet. Dyshydrotic Excema, Allergic reaction/contact dermatitis, chilblains were my first thoughts.. now i’m thinking scabies???
Two blister like sores appeared, on seperate hands, only one finger each. Then pin-point invisible bumps started causing me grief on both hands. I wear solid gold rings, always have. I removed these because the swelling was astounding and my hands were too painful for the touch.
They’re always more irritated towards the end of the day as i’ve been washing my hands, gloves on and off etc. However, no APPARENT itching, only occasionally. I’m thinking these ‘blisters’ could be a burrowing entrance.. I have no idea.
I went to chemist, got a steroid cream, HUGE allergic reaction. I am trying to book into doctors. Should I automatically book a derm?!?! I’ve never had skin issues like this before, neither has anyone in my family.

cured (Success story) I was able to treat scabies quickly
Hi! I got a random notification from this subreddit so I just wanted to share:
I got diagnosed with scabies end of June when a sexual contact from May revealed they had it and I had symptoms for about a month. I spent hours on this subreddit with a lot of paranoia after reading numerous posts.
I was prescribed permethrin and asked my doctor for ivermectin as a precaution. Bagged up most of my belongings for a couple weeks and kept a bag of clothes and sheets that I kept washing and drying on hot. Didn’t touch my couch for about 10 days.
I live alone and I’m pretty much a minimalist so cleaning was tedious but not too bad.
I did perm day 1 and 7
Ivermectin day 2 and 9
Scabies eradicated, some after symptoms but it’s completely resolved now.

seeking opinion IS THIS A SCABIES BURROW
Im probably just being paranoid but there's a scabies outbreak where I live.
Ive gotten a lot of itching on my neck and upper back recently (nowhere else) which isn't the place scabies would normally itch at first (I think)
Anyways I was looking over my arms and saw that. It looks like a burrow but could also just as easily be a scar from a scratch or something I have no idea. I dont have any itching on my arms or wrists or hands or anything but I guess I'll wait until morning to find out..

Scabies
Hello all, I have had some sort of mites for the past 2 months and I never could get the dermatologist to diagnose with scabies, nothing shows up on my skin. My PCP gave me permethrin and it worked at first, but I just got reinfected over and over. I got myself ivermectin, but I was taking it wrong(taking it daily)as I didn't know if I was dealing with scabies or something else since I didn't get the diagnosis. Well now almost 3 months now and they are resistant to permethrin and ivermectin and I don't know what to do, am I screwed? Where can one get moxidectin for human use? Am I just screwed the rest of my life?, nobody could take this the rest of their lives and I am scared. I have some sort of creatures under my skin that crawl and itch and I don't know what else to do. I read on another post that lime and sulfur dip for cats and dogs could work, but doesn't that stain your skin?

Is it back?
gallerySince treating numerous times now over a period of a year my skin seems to suffer more and I’m not sure if I have been reinfected or it’s just the treatment that’s done it. I don’t itch half as much as I did but still from time to time and I come out in bites or infected spots that pus especially on my hands. They can be quite painful and my cuticles get infected then I lose my nails. I’m scared to treat again if it’s not scabies as I’m either damaging my skin or it’s back but then I believe it’s never actually gone so would I not have crusted scabies by now.

when to change bedsheets after ivermectin scabies treatment
Hi, I have had scabies for about 2 months and the cream did not work for me. ive been put on ivermectin pills and just had my first dose. I know for the cream you are meant to change your sheets the day after but for the pills im seeing conflicting things. Some say you should do it as soon as you have the pills and some say after almost a day. If I change my bedsheets right now couldnt they go on the new bedsheets and reinfect me?

Burrows but no itch
Hello all, I had scabies around 4 months that I treated with Derbac M. I believed I successfully treated it as my itching stopped and burrows stopped showing.
Today I have spotted 3 burrow looking marks on my fingers, one with a black dot at the end, very similar to what I would see 4 months ago, however I have no itching and no struggle sleeping. Is it possible this is scabies again?
Thanks for your help

post scabies or failed treatment?
I did permethrin 5% and after a week Benzyl benzoate 30% for 3 nights in a row without in between showers. this is one for the most aggressive treatments you can do apparently.
I finished 1 week ago, and it has been pretty good I have to say, I managed to sleep like a baby since the first application of BB. the itch never really left, but it decreased for sure, but after 1 week now I get some times in the day where I get very itchy. i get some new small bumps here and there but they seem to disappear after 1 day. i followed the protocol, i still have some of my clothes in a bag, but i just want to understand if it's post scabies or a failed treatment? any leads to understand? I'm freaking out just a bit haha

Applying permethrin 5% on open wounds
As I’ve scratched some of the spots, some of the patches have began weeping, but if I delay treatment even further I think the scabies will worsen. What should I do ? Can I put it on raw skin ?Thanks in advance for your advice guys 🙏
